NEW BRITAIN DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP: TAX DELINQUINCIES ABOUND!

Democratic Town Committee Tax Delinquent Hall of Shame:

Town Committee Member: Delinquent Amount as of March 4, 2009:

Alton Brooks $82.52
George Gay $2,102.22
Nicholas Jakubowski $410.77
Margaret L. (Peggy) Shorey $96.37
Peter Spano-committee secretary 542.28

As most of my readers are aware, On April 15th I originally exposed that 4 Democratic members of the city council were delinquent for a total of $1,927.94 worth of motor vehicle taxes to the City of New Britain.

Thanks to one of my readers posting information on the current members of the Democratic Town Committee, I took the liberty of checking those elected committee members against the same tax delinquency list I used on April 15th. I chose not to seek an updated list from the tax collector, as I felt that it wouldn’t be fair to the 4 aldermen I exposed in my previous reports, to not hold these committee members to the same standards. To my surprise, I found that 5 Town Committee members were listed as being delinquent as of March 4th-- owing the city a total of $3,234.16

The New Britain Herald quoted Committee Chairman John McNamara as having said “As Democrats, we believe that elected officials should act in the public’s interest,” so I wonder how he is going to respond when he finds out that 5 members of his own town committee (one of them his own committee secretary) don’t believe in paying their taxes either?

Frank, it is apparent it would be easier for you to report the Democrats who paid their taxes.

Frank: Why not check the RTC as well as well as the two R members of the Council?

But, you have yet to check our state legislative contingent.

Good job!

I have already checked the Mayor, the two Republican members of the council, and all members of the Board of Education (Democrat and Republican alike), our State Senator, and all New Britain State Representatives, and found that they are current with their motor vehicle taxes as of March 4th.

It is only because one of my readers supplied the list of the DTC members that I was able to check that list. If someone can provide me with the list of the RTC members, I would be happy to check them against the list in fairness.

One thing is certain, Death and Taxes.

In many states motor vehicle property taxes do not exist. Cars
are a primary necessity for most people to get to work. The state of CT cannot reverse this because they need to keep the FAT goverment
payroll, retirement program and gross benefits running.

In the state of Florida real estate
taxes are kept in check with re-evaluation annually. What a great concept instead of paying over-inflated property taxes and forever
increasing property taxes. Florida, along with several other states have a homestead exemption protecting long time homeowners from increases as they retire. What a novel idea! They also offer
incentives for paying your property
taxes on-time and a 120 day grace period to make your payment before
any interest fees of late charges are incurred.

It is un-favorable to be on the un-paid tax list especially if you are involved politically however I don't believe that this makes one a bad person. Some of those may have no financial reason to be late and some may have financial burdens. To that end this information should remain confidential.

SOUNDS LIKE A DEMOCRAT WHO IS UPSET OVER HIS FELLOW DEMOCRATS BEING EXPOSED FOR WHAT THEY REALLY ARE!

PEOPLE WHO LEAD THE CITY AND ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CAUSING ALL OF OUR TAXES TO BE SO RIDICULOUSLY HIGH ARE THE ONES THAT ARE NOT PAYING THEIR TAXES, NOW THAT IS NEWS!

THESE DEMOCRATS DO NOTHING BUT FIND WAYS TO SEIZE OUR INCOME TO GIVE IT TO OTHERS THEY BELIEVE DESERVE OUR HARD EARNED MONEY MORE THAN WE DO, AND THEN THEY DON'T PAY THEIR OWN TAXES? JUST MORE PROOF THAT DEMOCRATS DO NOTHING BETTER THAN SPEND OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY.

SOUNDS LIKE THIS GUY PLANS TO VOTE FOR THE ALDERMAN WHO SAYS IT IS NOBODY'S BUSINESS THAT HE DOESN'T PAY HIS TAXES.

IF YOU WANT TO RUN FOR OFFICE, AND THE TOWN COMMITTEE MEMBERS ARE ELECTED, THEN YOU BETTER PLAN TO PLAY BY THE RULES AND PAY YOUR TAXES.

TO EVERYONE ELSE, REMEMBER ON ELECTION DAY THAT THESE ARE THE SAME PEOPLE THAT ARE FORCING YOU TO PAY YOUR TAXES, AND THEY DON'T WANT TO PAY THEIRS?

THIS IS DISGRACEFUL!

SHAME, SHAME, SHAME, DEMOCRATS!

The guy who is complaining about the unpaid taxes being public information should remember at election time that Alderman Phil Sherwood passed an ordinance not only making the information public, but making it free to get photocopies of the information. Due to Alderman Sherwood's new FOI ordinance, the city can no longer charge anyone for copies of this information, so in effect, he paid for the copies of the information to be released through his taxes!

5 more candidates for Obama's cabinet full of tax cheats!

Maybe Spano could be appointed to the Federal Reserve. Doesn't Obama need help printing all that free money? Since he also doesn't pay his taxes, he would fit right in with the other tax cheats on the cabinet.

why should any of us pay, when our so-called leaders don't?

It was just a few years ago that a list of all delinquent taxpayers was published in the newspaper. As far as anyone knows, that was discontinued because it became expensive to do so.

Yes, the practice of publishing the list of delinquent taxpayers was stopped because of (primarily) the expense. There were other reasons as well. The last time it was done the Herald was a larger size. In these economic down times, it is doubtful that the practice of publishing the list of delinquents will resume.

Many scofflaws use the law to escape - after a certain number of years and difficulty finding the property owners, some taxes are deemed uncollectable.

Mr. Smith, I just wanted you to know that I HAVE fulfilled my duty as a citizen of New Britain and paid my taxes....I am sure that you will be happy to know that, since you took the time to place me on your delinquent list....On behalf of all New Britain taxpayers, thank you for being such an honorable, investigative, community taxpayer watchdog....It truly is amazing that this city is able to finacially function without a man of your principle, integrity and desire to thwart all that is Democrat and Delinquent in New Britain........You are the most amazing community watchdog I have ever seen, and, call me crazy, but I was elated to see my name on your list.... I mean to be on the prestigous "tax delinquent list", WOW!!! You must have worked tireless hours, slaving over the data, making sure that your facts, figures and names all matched up....That is impressive...

And, unlike most people who post on this, I have no issue with you knowing who wrote this....Before today, I didn't even know who you were, nor did I care, nor did I think you even knew me and after this I could care less about you and your silly agendas...
But since you threw my name in here let me give you 4 other facts about me, just in case you need to attack or lead a crusade against something again:

I have voted, and have had my friends vote, for Mayor Stewart twice, and like him both Professionaly and Personally (does that surprise you cause im a 'dem'??)

I volunteer hundreds of hours a year from June til November coaching 16-19 yr olds in baseball FOR the city

I don't know you, and now I don't like you

Partisian Politics is why this City goes nowhere, ever!!!....BOTH sides of the aisle are at fault, and BOTH sides need to realize they must push aside political biases and do what is right and needed for this city....Put your egos aside....

Have a nice day, and again, thank you for assuming your superhero role as Community Tax Aveneger....I will be sure to stay tuned for your next heroic battle.....

PEACE

Mr. Nick Jakubowski:

Relative to your recent comments you have placed on my blog, whereby you stated that I have treated the Democrats unfairly.

Basically, it appears that is so however the Two Republican Alderman showed no record of late tax payments however the Democratic Common Council membership had their share of tardiness with their method of paying their own taxes.

I subsequently went after those belonging to the DTC as well.

The main reason for not doing the RTC membership was due to the fact the RTC membership list was only made available to me a few days ago.

I have addressed the RTC membership's late payments just recently.

I can understand your frustration but that delay was beyond my control.

I bear no ill feelings toward you and please feel free to communicate with me on any issue.

You mentioned the time you are spending working with our city’s youths with the baseball program.

You really should be commended for you’re undertaking this hard task of working with our youths.

Sincerely,

Frank Smith
