Last Night's proposed resolution # 4 proposal:
Alderman David DeFronzo proposal that all payment made by or on the behalf of the city to any or private either own or operated by the Mayor or any council members purpose: for the fiancé department to issue a written report for inclusion on agenda at each council regular meeting of the common council.
Alderman Willie Pabon asked DeFronzo do you think that Mark and I are taking money from the city without bids? DeFronzo offered little for an answer by just repeating the language in his proposal. Unfortunately, Defronzo’s answer was a non-answer to Pabon’s direct question.
Then Alderman Mark Bernacki chimed in stating that this is just a remake of former ALDERMAN SHERWOOD’S ORIGINAL MOTION THAT FAILED A YEAR OR SO AGO.
WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID A MOTION TO AMEND TO INCLUDE ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL IN FILLING THEIR SOURCES OF INCOME AS PROPOSED BY ALERMAN SALVIO FAILED. THEN THE MOTION WAS PASSED BY THE DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY OF THE COUNCIL SENDING IT TO THE LAW COMMITTEE FOR FURTHER REVIEW.
If this resolution sees council approval at a subseuent meeting then most business owners will not wish to serve the city in any capacity.

NBConservative : We remember when in the old South, the Democrats instituted a reading test for potential voters. They knew that most blacks couldn’t read (because they had been prohibited from attending school) so the law only affected blacks. We also remember when the Nazi started making laws, it seemed they only affected Jews.
The bottom line is if an ordinance in New Britain only affects one specific group, then there is an inherent problem with it. Why are city workers and non-profit employees exempt? They do business with and get income from the City. The answer: that’s where the Democrats and their family members exist in the NB income cash voter plantation system?.
The issue is fairness; it's not that Bernacki, Pabon or any other Republicans have anything to hide. They have never hidden the fact that their New Britain businesses are some times awarded New Britain City contracts?
According to the latest Quinnipiac University Poll, one out of every ten Connecticut residents might very likely be picking up and moving out if Governor Malloy’s tax package passes and becomes law.
Although the impact on the Connecticut economy would be “bad”, there would be a lot more jobs for the rest of us and one might pick up a house cheap.
What is even more interesting is that there is no statistical difference in attitude due to political party, age or income.
11 percent of all voters are say there are likely to leave if Malloy’s plan becomes law:
13 percent of Republicans
11 percent of Democrats
10 percent of Unaffiliated
If I were these men, I would refuse to do business with the city, especially in the case of Mr. Bernacki.
Let the city hall employees have to travel out of town every time they need copying instead of the convenience of getting the work done just down the block, and from everything I have read the city will pay much higher prices to get the work done in another city.
Everybody loses except the game playing childish Democrats.
4.) RESOLUTION RE: Report from the Finance Department regarding payments made to for-profit companies owned by the Mayor or any member of the City Council.
To His Honor, the Mayor, and the Common Council of the City of New Britain: the undersigned beg leave to recommend the adoption of the following:
WHEREAS, elected and appointed officials of the City of New Britain must be held to the highest ethical
standards; and,
WHEREAS, the ethical hallmark of any democratic government is transparency; and,
WHEREAS, under Connecticut FOI laws, all payments made by the City of New Britain are a matter of
public record; now therefore be it.
RESOLVED, that at each regular meeting of the Common Council, the Finance Department shall submit a written report for inclusion on the agenda that cumulatively lists (beginning January 1, 2010) any and all payments made by or on behalf of the City to any private for-profit entity that is either owned or operated by the Mayor or by any member of the Common Council.
