I don't understand why people do notlisten. The golf course will only be out of use for 2 seasons not 2 years. It was clearly explained at the P&Z meeting. If you are going to report, report facts not hearsay.
I wonder if the owners of Costco know that they are no doubt setting themselves up for one radical protest after another sponsored by the very people elected to represent them as taxpayers?
If they doubt me, tell them to ask Walmart why they fled the city.
It is also interesting that Alderman Mike Trueworthy chooses to say he is against blight when he actively opposed the sale of the blighted Aquinas property.
Now, instead of active development of that site it will continue to sit, blighted and vacant. Trueworthy's justification? That they city didn't receive multiple proposals for the site, claiming “Something wasn’t done right".
"The plan is not right or it was not put out right.” So just more excuses and justifications for Trueworthy's own failings.
The New Britain Common Council's meeting tonight 10/12/11, with a few pro-Costco speakers , several anti-Costco folks and betting line is that the Council will vote "yes".
Yes, the New Britain Common Council votes 11-3 to approve Costco. The political spotlight now moves to Newington: Will that town try to block the deal?
Yes, Newington's Council Member Maureen Klett delivers some threatening news to New Britain's Costco "B" Plan. She states that Her town isn't ready to simply turn over land that the city needs for Costco's development plan?
And yes, Nutmeg TV blows it too? Losing their broadcasting signal from New Britain City Hall and then broadcasting canned political pitches by candidate Alderman David DeFronzo ?
Yes, The New Britain Herald blew it too on the 12-3 vote in their lead story. The numbers 12 and 3 add up to 15.... 15 votes and/or 14 votes, since Alderman Hermanowski was absent,

That just means that the socialists on the council will find another way to stop this evil rich business from making money.

Does anyone know which 3 communists voted against the Costco plan?
It was 3 of the most radical extremists I have ever seen:
DeFronzo Jr., Truewrothy, and Mushbrain Eva.
Alderman Trueworthy, Majority Leader Eva Magnuszewski and David DeFronzo — all Democrats — voted "no" against the Costco sale.

What possible excuse could the 3 commies have for voting no except that they believe that evil rich corporations must be stopped.
