Let's get this straight; four years ago HUD provided a loan through the city for Arete Development. Minutes of a meeting with CCND show they approved the loan. Unfortunately the development did not come to completion. HUD never asked for the funding to be returned by the city. Fast forward four years later our current mayor is caught up lying to the public, this paper, council members about the hiring of a community organizer for $47,000 per year through a HUD funded grant. We find out this was an outright lie. Alderman David DeFronzo is made to look like a liar too when his mayor watches him tell the public that the position is HUD funded when in fact it is not. There is an investigation of the mayor's lies and it is proven that HUD denied his request to fund this job. Now, the city, not HUD tells HUD I think we should pay you this money back, there may have been mis-steps with this development loan four years ago. Timothy Stewart was mayor. Let's take the heat off of this administration and find something from four years ago and just to prove something let's put us in a position to pay this money back that HUD apparently didn't take issue with? I am not saying we should get away with federal funds if we shouldn't but then HUD is remiss in it's actions. This administration is so stupid. So now we are paying $47,000 per year that is not approved through the general fund and we have to pay back $100,000 that nobody was looking for and was all public knowledge? I almost feel bad for O'Brien being directed by Phil Sherwood. Phil makes a mess of things wherever he goes. "

The City of New Britain is suffering with it's own Structural Budget Deficit and a cash-flow problem that the O'Brien administration must bring under control by reducing and controlling deficit spending and by raising revenue through taxation.
Sally says: I almost feel bad for O'Brien being directed by Phil Sherwood.
I believe that O'Brien is too ignorant to even realize what a mess Phil is making of everything because he is apparently too incompetent to do the job without Phil telling him when to crap and exactly what color to make it when he does.
Once again the Hartford Courant newspaper prepares to look the other way as the Governor of Connecticut and Legislature defy the Connecticut Constitution which requires a balanced state budget. Borrowed money is NOT revenue.

After focusing intensely on gun control for the past three months, The CT State Legislators are now turning their attention to another major issue; solving a state budget deficit that is projected to be near $1 billion in each of the next two years.
Lawmakers will debate Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's proposals to eliminate the property tax on most cars, eliminate the state sales tax on clothing and footwear up to $25, borrow money to balance the books, increase spending by about 10 percent over two years, and eliminate minimum pricing on bottles of alcohol.
Good job Sally. You are right on target!!

The Connecticut Constitution also guarantees each resident of Connecticut "the right to keep and bear arms in defense of himself or the state"
