The Southington Water Problem!

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:
Alderman Daniel Salerno doesn’t understand The Southington Water problem at all: The Contamination arises from the two dumps called “the old Southington landfill and the Solvents recovery of New England indicating a super fund cleanup was needed for these two sites. That is why I indicated to our Mayor to not sell the Patton Brook Well but to raise the annual rental rate to this town “AS HIGH YOU FEEL APPROPIATE.”

New Britain City Alderman is a tax delinquent!

Alderman Daniel Salerno and or his wife Mariaane of 80 Jones Drive, New Britain has failed to pay their taxes due on a Honda owing $441.64 with additional interest of $13.24 coupled with a fee of $5.00 totaling $459.88 according to the city’s tax statement dated of August 22,2014.

The proposed lowering the lease of the Patton Brook Well a Common Council issue!

Subsequent to today’s New Britain Herald’s Editorial I have received emails from some Aldermen claiming that Southington doesn’t need us they just can dig a new well and say “Good Bye to us.” Because of the many contaminates according to Mr. Bligh, director of New Britain’s water department, that town rented the Patton Brook well from us because their drinking water has been exposed to toxics from two sites The old Southington landfill and solvents recovery of New England. Both sites became Superfund cleanup sites. With ten or so contaminants under the ground surface existing it would be very doubtful that the state would grant an approval for a new well site. Rather than our mayor negotiating lower rates with that town she should raising it many times more annually.

Greenberg wants his opponent to be more clear

POLL: MAJORITY SAYS OBAMA ‘NOT TOUGH ENOUGH’

President Obama and his team are working hard to lower public expectations for the U.S. response to both Islamist militants in the Middle East and the advance of Russian forces in Eastern Europe, but a new poll suggests expectations could hardly be any lower. In the latest survey from USA Today and the Pew Research Center, 54 percent of respondents said Obama is not tough enough on foreign policy and just 35 percent of respondents approved of his handling of Iraq, with an equally low number approving of his Russia response. Obama’s broadly panned remarks Thursday seemed designed to throw cold water on the dire warnings issued by his military team last week. Obama also ducked a question about whether Russian troops fighting in Ukraine constitutes “an invasion.” But the line that will certainly define this chaotic era of U.S. foreign policy – “we don’t have a strategy yet” – was the most obvious effort to demonstrate the president’s go slow approach.

Democrats fear Obama amnesty plan

Panicked Democrats locked in tight midterm races as the party tries desperately to hold onto control of the Senate fear President Obama's anticipated executive amnesty for about 5 million illegal immigrants may doom their re-election campaigns

Mexican president calls for US immigration reform

Mexico's president spoke of the need for U.S. immigration reform on a two-day visit to immigrant-friendly California, saying those who reject diversity and inclusion will ultimately be proven wrong. "We want to be a factor of cohesion, not division, with full respect for the sovereignty of the United States," President Enrique Pena Nieto said Monday. "This, at the end, is about - and only about - a matter of justice for those who contribute so much to the development of the American society."

Ferguson latest stop in a long career of hustle

Stepping to the pulpit at Greater Grace Church — minutes from where a suburban St. Louis police officer shot and killed an unarmed black 18-year-old — the Rev. Al Sharpton wielded the fiery words that have marked his long, often notorious career. "These parents are not going to cry alone," he preached to the crowd that packed the pews last Sunday in Ferguson, Missouri. "We have had enough!"

ISIS Threat to USA

The current threats posed by ISIS, or the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, to world stability in general and to the U.S. specifically are very real and extremely dangerous. However, the origins of the group and hence the threats are not to be believed “as advertised.” We are being subjected to more lies from the White House to Foggy Bottom, along with many elected leaders who know the real story but insist upon pushing a false narrative. OBAMA’S ISIS PRESSURE POINT IS DEMS WORST NIGHTMARE

As if the pressure of running under President Obama’s domestic policies wasn’t bad enough for vulnerable Democrats, the administration’s quandary over what to do about the ravages of the Islamist terror group ISIS is making the squeeze unbearable. Back in Washington from his two week vacation, the president hunkers down with senior advisors at the White House today. Among those meetings, a session with Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, who warned ISIS “is beyond anything that we’ve seen.” Republican hawks seized on the comments Sunday, hammering Obama to take more aggressive action and exhibit leadership in place of a “feckless” foreign policy. Meanwhile Democrats, who have been tepidly supportive or staying under the radar during the administration’s limited air strikes in Iraq, have another policy crisis to run away from as their chances of holding control of the Senate look increasingly remote. President Obama may be under pressure to act quickly, but he has already said a solution in Iraq is “a long term project.” That’s little consolation for those on the president’s team facing voters just 10 weeks from now, no matter which policy direction he chooses. [“The president has got to come forward with a cohesive, comprehensive strategy, not only in Iraq, but also in Ukraine, also in other parts of the world. This is an administration which the kindest word I can use is feckless, where they have not outlined a role that the United States of America has to play, and that’s a leadership role. No more leading from behind. No more don’t do stupid stuff.” –Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., on “Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace.” ]

Letter By The School Supt. for financial help to teach illegals in AZ schools

The Honorable Arne Duncan, Secretary United States Department of Education 400 Maryland Avenue SW Washington, DC 20202 Secretary Duncan: Arizona has an obligation to provide its students with the highest quality education possible. Despite tremendous socio-economic and education funding challenges facing our state, Arizonans have resolutely overcome those challenges and met that obligation. Arizona has taken great strides to ensure that its children are protected and educated. But now with too many Arizona families still suffering through the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, now with Arizona’s state legislature facing a tremendous future revenue shortfall, and with Arizona schools struggling to cover the costs of students’ needs, Arizona, its schools and its taxpayers are being asked to shoulder the increasing financial burden of illegal immigrants entering our school system. Having to pay for the tremendous educational costs associated with the federal government’s failure to secure the border is not new to Arizona taxpayers or Arizona schools. What is new, though, and what is unprecedented, is the federal government’s ac tions to relocate at least hundreds of unaccompanied minors, mostly school-aged teenagers, who have illegally crossed the border into other states, to Arizona’s cities and towns, where they will attend Arizona schools. It is with this unprecedented action by the federal government in mind that I am asking you and the U.S. Department of Education to provide solid information on the total number of children actually being placed in Arizona and where they are being placed, and to pay for the added educational expense of those school-aged illegal immigrants being relocated to Arizona. It is unreasonable to ask Arizona schools and Arizona taxpayers to pay for these expenses. These unaccompanied minors in question did not illegally cross into Arizona, but rather they were bussed into our state by the federal government.

LAW AND DISORDER: PENTAGON PUSHES BACK

Is the United States at war with the Sunni Islamist separatists in control of Iraq and Syria? It sure sounded that way when Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel addressed the subject at a press conference: “They’re beyond just a terrorist group. They marry ideology, a sophistication of strategic and tactical military prowess. They are tremendously well-funded.” Hagel said it was “beyond anything that we’ve seen.” He followed that with a grim warning: “So we must prepare for everything. And the only way you do that is that you take a cold, steely, hard look at it and get ready.” So what do you do about that? Gen. Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said it would require escalating the conflict and striking targets inside of Syria.

The Islamist State terrorist who beheaded James Wright Foley

That defining moment underlines in blood how Western leaders who allow the flow of terrorists across their borders have relinquished the safety of their own citizens for convenience, cowardice and political expediency. Western leaders like President Barack Hussein Obama and Britain’s Prime Minister David Cameron do not do the jobs they were sworn in to do in protecting their citizens. They only make speeches and go on vacations. The mainstream media doesn’t question negligent Western leaders about their cavalier attitudes toward radical Islamic terrorism, but their citizens know it, the watching world knows, and most importantly of all, the terrorists of the Islamic State count on it. Cameron, holidaying in Portugal in early August was as of yesterday vacationing during his annual Cornwall break. Update: David Cameron breaks off holiday after ‘British’ jihadist beheads kidnapped journalist (The Telegraph, Aug. 20, 2014) Obama, who spent less than 48 hours on his media-dubbed “mysterious” Washington break from his holiday, returned to Martha’s Vineyard last night. The Islamist State terrorist who beheaded James Wright Foley crowed at the world from the Middle East via graphic video. How long before the terrorists flowing in to the United States unhampered across its southern border get to crow over beheadings conducted right on American soil? CFP

Esty's Opposition Research Book Digs Deep --

Reveals Greenberg is Jewish Statement by Mark Greenberg: "If ever we needed an example of why Washington has been broken by polarizing politics and personal attacks, Elizabeth Esty's 99-page "personal attack playbook" about me, my family and my religion is the poster child. Have Elizabeth Esty or the DCCC ever researched or developed any 99-page public policy plan, bill, or other document that could better the lives of 5th District residents, improve our stalled economy or create the jobs that Elizabeth Esty has failed to create? "Maybe if my opponent spent less time researching my religion and more time on a plan to help the voters of the 5th Congressional District, our families and businesses would be in better shape. And maybe if all the career politicians like Esty in Washington spent as much time trying to fix our problems as they do trying to attack their opponents, America might be in better shape." -30-

Berlin resident be aware of the proposed Police Station cost

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:
Councilors Evans , Luddy and Paonessa Of the town of Berlin have been asking for the exact appraisal of the total cost for the new Police station on Farmington Ave. The existing problem is that the property that has been purchase included a factory that has contamination and remediation work that needs to be done and a Phase Two would provide a possible estimate that is being asked from the Town Manager’s Office by the Councilmen.

Israel Criminally responsible??

The illegitimate complaints against Israel are well known, that Israel is allegedly criminally responsible for the collateral damage causing fewer than 2,000 fatalities in less than a month of intensive fighting in one of the most concentrated areas of civilians in the world in the course of Israel’s attempts to root out the source of the projectiles, missiles, mortars, and/or rockets sent against Israel’s civilians, while the projectiles, missiles, mortars, and rockets intentionally aimed by Hamas in intended genocide and murder of millions of civilians in Israel (including hundreds of thousands of Arabs collaterally and most ironically) in the course of a number of years are somehow not to be mentioned.

A Local Newspaper’s head line “ GOP seeks Trueworthy’s Resignation From Council.”

With the alderman resigning his leadership role but retaining his council seat has the GOP members of the common council along with a few Democrats joining in with his ouster.
We all are aware of the newspaper accounting of his actions towards Mayor E. Stewart during his drunken rampage at her office and the subsequent incident attacking the “Gay community” at a local restaurant.   Many of the Gay community members have indicated to me, if Trueworthy doesn’t resign, they may march onto City Hall to Protest at a future Common Council meeting.

Statement of Alderman Naples to Common Council, August 13, 2014

Statement of Alderman Naples to Common Council, August 13, 2014

Your Honor and Council Members:

I rise to advise you of a pending action regarding a matter of significant importance to the Council.  I’m referring to the status of Alderman Trueworthy as a member of this Council.

Those who know me know that I am not a partisan person and am not a good politician, as I often speak my mind without considering the political implications of my statements.  When we learned of the unfortunate events of July 22nd, a number of us on the Council from both sides of the aisle called for Alderman Trueworthy to resign, not just as Mayor Pro Tempore, but as a Councilman as well.  Mr. Trueworthy has resigned as Mayor Pro Tem and he remains on the Council.

There has been mixed reaction from the people we serve, namely the residents of New Britain and employees of the City.  Some, recognizing that alcoholism is a disease, believe that Alderman Trueworthy should be given a chance to redeem himself and he should remain on the Council while doing that.  Others feel that his actions were so serious that he should not be allowed to remain on the Council.

After several days of weighing the pros and cons of this issue, I must side – reluctantly – with those who are calling for Alderman Trueworthy’s removal from the Council as soon as possible.  Two factors rise above all other considerations:  1) Primary emphasis should be placed on the conduct rather than the person, and 2) Elected officials are presumed to have a higher behavioral standard than those who are not in public office.

In this case, Alderman Trueworthy’s conduct reflected extremely poorly on himself, the Common Council and the City of New Britain.   Section 4-10 of the New Britain City Charter lists several reasons for removal of an elected official from the Common Council, including incapacity and malfeasance in office.  If Mr. Trueworthy’s actions on July 22nd didn’t cross the line of incapacity and malfeasance, I have to ask what would?  I believe this is a first for New Britain, and not a desirable one.  Because of conduct like this, people lose faith in the political system and their government.  How do we explain to the public that an elected official does something like that and keeps his job?

I present this statement now, to give Alderman Trueworthy a chance to step down on his own.  I believe this gives him the best chance for recovery and avoids a formal removal hearing, which would expose him and the City to further embarrassment.

Thank you.

New Britain Council To Consider Patton Brook Well Sale

10:48 AM EDT, August 13, 2014
Advertisement
NEW BRITAIN - The proposed sale of the Patton Brook Well is on the agenda for the common council at its Aug. 13 meeting.
Mayor Erin Stewart's administration wants to sell the well for $1.3 million to the town of Southington, which has leased it since 1977.
New Britain hasn't used it since then, the city's long-term water resource plan doesn't include using it, and the well and pumphouse need extensive and costly repairs, according to officials in her administration. Some residents and council members argue that the city shouldn't permanently sign away a water resource, and others suggest that Southington might make a higher offer if the proposal is rejected.
The council meeting begins at 7 p.m. at city hall.

AND NOW, A WORD FROM CHARLES…
“The problem is that bullets are bouncing off the armored vehicles that ISIS has that it captured from us. The reason we are not doing it the right way through the Pentagon with lots of weapons is because we think it would be impolite or against some kind of law or legalism because it’s not an independent state. Who cares about the legalism? We’re in the middle of a shooting war and the worst people on earth are winning it right now.” –Charles Krauthammer on “Special Report with Bret Baier.” Watch here.

There is much discussion these days of why the Media and liberals in general are so anti-Israel. It should be obvious to any casual but attentive observer that the media has a bias in favor of the Muslims and in opposition to Israel. In fact, a scan of the headlines suggest that Israel was and is the aggressor, while Hamas was minding is only defending itself.

James Brady's death ruled a homicide

The Monday death of former Reagan aide James S. Brady, who was wounded in an assassination attempt in 1981, has been ruled a homicide by the Va. medical examiner's office, the D.C. police department's chief spokeswoman says.

There was no immediate word on whether the shooter, John W. Hinckley, who has been treated at St. Elizabeth's psychiatric hospital, could face new criminal charges. He was found not guilty by reason of insanity after he shot Reagan and three others on March 30, 1981.
