Boot Finder Number Two For Mayor Stewart

I have received numerous emails as well as phone calls as what the boot looks like.

Therefore, making it the reason for adding the new blog in order to present to our readers what the mechanical Boot Finder looks like. Please remember that they do place two of these bootfinders one on each side of the vehicle so it can read the plates parked on both sides of the street as this vehicle passes by.

A computer is controlling what the bootfinder is reading and it is assumed that a new down load of current information from the motor vehicles department and the local tax department is completed on a routine basis in order to keep the information stored in the bootfinders's computer up to date and accurate.

Be reminded that the city of New Haven after installing the boot system in August of last year reported that they collected $3,000,000 last year of unpaid taxes and expects to collect and additional $4,500,000 of uncollected taxes.
It is hoped that the city of New Britain’s administration will consider employing this system in order to lessen its taxpayers who do pay their taxes to see that this additional income realized as a method to lower the mill rate they are currently forced to pay because of the uncollected amounts owed by the dead beat scoffers.

The New Haven Register, reported by Angela Carter, Hundreds turn out to pay delinquent tax bills waiting line for at least an hour in order to prevent their cars from being impounded. Resulting in added towing and storage cost.

One headline reported by the New Have Register read as follows:
BYE-bye to the Boot; Hello Plate Hunter; by William Kaempffer of the Register who reported that the cost for this electronic doohickey was a sum of $78,000 and that this High Tech Italian made optical character recognition technology. It not only finds those that owe past tax bills but also targets parking ticket scofflaws as well.

West Haven and Bridgeport have evaluated this system for their own use.

Why not employing this system in New Britain?

  1. Frank Smith... Where do we sign up for all the election goodies here in New Britain?

This has been a "what's in it for us " vote. When are they going to give us our health care? When are you (Frank Smith)going to make sure our working poor jobs are guaranteed?

When are they going to help cover our child care costs? You aren't going to make us the working poor pay taxes, are you ... Frank Smith?

And how about all those evil rich people? When are you going to take some of their money away from them and give it to Us ... the working poor ... and share the wealth?

After all ... we worked for our money, they cheated and stole for theirs. Make them pay their fair share of taxes. We are tired of paying any sales taxes ?

We keep thinking about that woman at the Obama rally who said that with a Barack Obama presidency we "wouldn't have to worry about putting gas in our car and wouldn't have to worry about paying the mortgage." There are so many like her – people who sincerely believe that an Obama presidency is going to be a substitute for work.

When is the gravy train money and goodies coming ...

  2. In my attempt to reply to anonymous questions regarding not to have to work anymore— get gasoline for free- where do we apply for all the freebies? Like food ----clothing----and etc.

Sir or Madame All these questions should be directed to the man that is moving into the White House----President Obama.

  3. I heard Mayor Stewart talking yesterday at a poll to someone about how he is not going to run again on 2009, this would be a great opportunity for the D's in town to take back the top office!

  4. I heard that starting this morning all health care is free, One woman said she would no longer need to pay her mortgage or for gasoline for her car because whenever she is short of cash, all she needs to do is call Barrack and he is going to take care of things for her.

Can I get that number? My gas tank needs filling.

  5. Frank Smith... Where do we sign up for all those election goodies that we voted for here in New Britain on election day?

Wages are falling for most people - and the unemployment rate is rising fast. More poor people are without healthcare coverage, and even if you have it, paying for it is getting tougher and tougher.

Frank Smith...When will get our Obama government money checks with the free gas, free food, free coats, free housing? Where do we sign up?

The New Britain middle class is paying a larger share of the tax burden, and Gas is expensive, college is expensive, and even groceries like milk, bread and eggs are expensive.

If you measure our nation's wealth by the standard of living for most of the working poor, instead of by the GDP, we're clearly sliding in the wrong direction - and fast.

Where do we poor folks sign up for that Obama ...share the wealth... government Money checks??

  6. Anonymous wants to know where he or she can sign up for all the “Goodies” that was promise by the Obama campaign.

The only suggestions that can be made with regards to this question is going to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington DC and knock on the front door and ask for the “Goodies” that you feel you were promised and you feel that you are entitled too.

  8. If Mayor Stewart isn't running, maybe Salvio will take his place.

  9. Anonymous #1...you should first apply to the nearest welfare office for welfare checks. For free food, go to the nearest Food bank...Salvation Army, Spanish Center, etc. For free gasoline, ciphan gas from your neighbors gas tank. For further information, maybe you can contact State Rep. Tim O'Brian

  10. Obama campaign workers angry over unpaid wages...

Indianapolis - Lines were long and tempers flared not to vote but to get paid for canvassing for Barack Obama.

Several hundred people are still waiting to get their pay for last-minute campaigning. Police were called to the Obama campaign office downtown Indianapolis to control the crowd. "I want my money today! It's my money. I want it right now!" yelled one former campaign worker.

A former spokesman for the Obama campaign said 375 people were hired as part of the Vote Corps program and said people signed up to work three-hour shifts at a time.

Three hours of canvassing got workers a $30 pre-paid Visa card.
"Still that's not right. I'm disappointed. I'm glad for the president, but I'm disappointed in this system," said Diane Jefferson, temporary campaign worker. "It should have been $480. It's $230," said Imani Sankofa.

"They gave us $10 an hour. So we added it. I added up all the hours so it was supposed to be at least $120. All I get is $90," said Charles Martin. "I worked nine hours a day for 4 days and got paid half of what I should have earned," said Randall Waldon.

  11. I saw a report on the TV News recently where New Haven had the highest payment of car taxes in the state with roughly 98% payment rate because of this system. I don't know where New Britain is at, but I would be surprised if it is over 60% in comparison.

  12. I guess the mayor is not going to tell us how much in car taxes goes unpaid, so lets get together and start FOI'ing the information that should be available to the public in this free and open society of ours. It is time to put Alderman Sherwood's new freedom of information ordinance to work.

  13. It must be a really embarrassingly low percentage of the motor vehicle taxes getting paid, otherwise why would the mayor be trying to hide it?

  14. I requested this information directly from the tax department last week to put the "wonder" to rest. They didn't have an answer just off the top but promised to get back to me. I was told that most of he delingquents are hard to
find and have moved out of the city. Just waiting now for the answer.

  15. Anyone who is curious how the bootfinder system works, should watch "Parking Wars" on A&E, 10 PM, Wednesdays. This will give you a great inside look into the workings of the Philadelphia Parking Authority, which New Britain could learn a lot from.
