Read today's (2.14.09) Herald. Catanzaro admits that he committed yet another ethics violation at the 2.11.09 Council meeting by discussing and then voting against the Ethics Board's recommendation that he be reprimanded for his ethical lapses. Even the self-proclaimed NB ethics czar Phil Sherwack said he doesn't know why Catanzaro voted against his own reprimand. Did Catanzaro think nobody would notice? What a bad joke against New Britain citizens!! If Catanzaro doesn't resign, he should be impeached.
Section 4.7 of the City Charter, however, specifically disallows a vote by a member when there is a monetary or personal interest.
According to the section, “No member of the Common Council shall be heard to speak upon, nor shall be allowed to vote upon, nor shall be appointed a member of any committee to consider, any matter in which the member has a direct pecuniary interest. Any violation of this provision shall be grounds for expulsion of any member violating the same.”
IMPEACH! Here is your authority to begin immediate impeachment proceedings Mr. Mayor.
Frank: Catanzaro admits in today's Herald that he himself voted against a reprimand recommended by the NB Ethics Commission against him (Catanzaro). Catanzaro has committed yet another Ethics violation. It follows then that his 12 Democratic colleagues on the Council are complicit in this latest violation! Shouldn't all 13 of them be impeached?!! What a bunch of dolts!!
Dumbocrats on the NB Common Council really show their mettle once again. It seems that their repeated attacks on one Republican alderman have backfired. The Council Democrats' 13 - 2 voting majority showed once againthat might (numbers) doesn't always conquer right nor is might a substitute for honesty. Too bad for the 60% + or so of Council democrats don't seem to know what it is they're voting on most of the time. Hate to see people used like that.

JUST LOOK AT ALL THE NASTY COMMENTS ADAM PLATOZ RECEIVED FROM HIS FELLOW LIBERALS FOR ASKING A SIMPLE, BUT LEGITIMATE QUESTION. I WOULDN'T BLAME HIM IF HE WENT BACK TO BEING ONE OF THE 13 MUSHROOMS ON THE COUNCIL, WHICH MEANS THE OTHER 12 MUSHROOMS WIN. ADAM, DON'T LET THESE SOCIALIST LOONS WIN, KEEP ASKING YOUR QUESTIONS!
Shouldn't Alderman Sherwood be leading the charge to remove this miscreant from office? Isn't Sherwood supposed to be the champion of ethical behavior?
I want to know why tim stewart wont take action with his own dept heads who rip off the city. The Fairview fence?Willow street park clean up cover up?Why does he cover for Mr Malinowski? We need a probe investigation like we had in 1977

THIS IS A GOOD QUESTION, Maybe we need an investigative unit like an inspector general who can investigate corruption in any level of the city government, but if we create such a position, we need to make sure that the inspector is empowered to investigate sleazeballs on the council too, so maybe he should answer directly to the mayor and have the authority to initiate impeachment proceedings against any corrupt or unethical practices by any elected officials? What do you think?
Good point on the insptector general. The cities of Chicago, New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Kansas City, Newark, Jacksonville, Yonkers, and New Orleans all employ inspector general's to root out corruption and unethical practices by city government officials. Why not New Britain?
I know the Republican state committee just moved to New Britain. Why are they remaining so silent and letting the Democrats in their new hometown get away with such disgusting behavior?

Sounds like these Dumbocrats on the council are ready to send to Congress. Those fools just voted on a 1075 page bill that they never read.
