Puerto Rico is not even a state, yet it received $5 billion in stimulus money from the federal government--more than twice what the State of Connecticut received.
When all this money was being doled out by the Democrats in Washington, where was State Representative Timothy O'Brien to seek some of this money for his district from the leadership of his own party? Waterbury secured $155 million, while New Britain received not one thin dime.
This is the type of representation you can expect from Mr. O'Brien in the future--absolutely nothing!
people are losoing their jobs in record numbers, and houses are being foreclosed like never before and all the council does is try to find ways to spend more money and raise everyone's taxes to pay for their increase in socialist programs under the Marxist leadership of Trueworthy and the little child sherwack.
Wasn't it the housing Authorities policies under the leadership of Don Defronzo as Mayor and chairman/director of the authority that brought us the decay of New Britain’s neighborhoods? I know while he was chairman of the authority that audits revealed lack of over site of section 8 tenants (tenants not being screened properly). Lack of proper records keeping, poor management of finances etc.
Tim O'Brien is popular in the 24th assembly diatrict only anyone else in the city hardly knows him.
Whoever runs for Mayor in New Britain (that is a democrat) will have a hard time getting support based on the reputation the common council has created for the democrats in this city.
I am a democrat but would not vote for anyone that is associated with the likes of Sherwood and Truthworthy!
Middletown got $900,000, but where was Tim O'Brien to get you one cent of the stimulus money? Ask Mr. O'Brien why he didn't fight for any money for New Britain??? You got nothing, New Britain!!!! Zero!!!!
MIDDLETOWN — - By the end of the month, the housing authority will receive money to begin making its housing developments safer and more energy-efficient.
The city will receive $900,000 as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, part of President Barack Obama's plan to jump-start the economy. The funds are expected to be delivered by March 23.
Whoever runs for Mayor in New Britain (that is a democrat) will have a hard time getting support based on the reputation the common council has created for the democrats in this city.
YOU CAN THANK LITTLE MAC (THE LESSER ONE) AND THE LIKES OF PHONY PHIL SHERWACK FOR DESTROYING THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY IN THIS TOWN. THEY ARE LEADING THE PARTY RIGHT DOWN THE CRAPPER.

We think that Rep. O'Brien being Irish recently married a New York City Irish Girl that he met on the internet!
Of course Tim O'Brien's wife and step son will be supporting him in the election...isn't that what families do? His New York City Irish wife might be the right touch for him to win the election.
Don't worry Mr. Mayor, by November, the Obama administration will have this country so screwed up with their Marxist socialism that the American people will be desperate to vote for any Republican for all offices including the council and the board of ed.
State Representative O'Brien had the foresight to lobby for the saving of the New Britain Herald and the Bristol Press together with three daily newspapers.
Efforts to Stop AIG Bonuses - Based on Obscure Connecticut Law...
Top CT Legislators called upon the CT General Assembly to change Connecticut State Law as a way to stop bonuses paid to AIG, the insurance giant that has received about $170 billion in federal bailout money.
The state of Connecticut should not be used as a scapegoat for AIG to pay these outrageous bonuses.
Also, Senator Barack Obama received a $101,332 bonus from American International Group (AIG) in the form of political contributions according to Opensecrets.org.
The two biggest Congressional recipients of bonuses from the A.I.G. are - Senators Chris Dodd (D) CT and Senator Barack Obama.
Frank lobbying for something to happen and actually getting the buyer to the table like Mayor Stewart did are two extremely different approaches. O'Brien was trying to commit state funds to a potential buyer, and I can recall you amongst others railing against the use of public finds for a mewspaper bailout.
Senator Dodd Blamed For Legislation Behind AIG Bonuses.
A mini-firestorm continued over U.S. Sen. Christopher Dodd's role in legislation regarding the huge bonuses at AIG, the highly controversial insurance giant that is receiving about $170 billion in federal bailout money.
CT Legislators and others are charging that Dodd was the main person behind the legislation that allowed the bonuses for the AIG employees.
But Dodd says he was never a member of the conference committee that inserted the legislation into the final version of the bill.
The bonuses have become a flash point over public anger regarding federal bailouts in general and AIG in particular. Everyone from President Barack Obama to CT State Legislators in Connecticut are decrying the bonuses.
Dodd's spokeswoman, Kate Szostak, is saying that the accusation that Dodd included the exemption for the bonuses is false, despite reports by Drudge.
Anonymous says... Frank: Which Herald did O'Brien lobby for, the "new", Schroeder version pursued by Bristol and New Britain - which is welcomed - or the old, "tabloid version" of Sherwack, Guinness snd Levy? Which do you prefer, Frank?
It is evident from most of the comments posted here that a large segment of the NB population is now paying attention to what is going on politically in New Britain; specifically at the common council level where Tim O'Brien once served as an alderman.
There are plenty of intelligent, ETHICAL, conservative business people who would make great council members but with New Britain being absolute democratic, why waste your time, money and talent running a campaign.
What has amazed the NB public is that Tim Stewart has succeeded to be mayor as a republican but the voters don't give him more republicans to work with on the common council.
Tim Stewart has attracted new business and has held the line on property taxes. He has done this despite the vigorous negative campaign voiced against him by the liberal and anti-business democratic common council aldermen.
Imagine where NB would be today if voters really paid close attention to who they were voting for and attended a couple of council meetings?
It's easy in a democracy to give people everything they need to get by but pretty soon however they don't know what it is to be independent anymore and slowly the middle class in this country and in New Britain is falling victim to socialism.
Senator Dodd, In Reversal, Admits Knowledge Of AIG Bonus Loophole....
Standing on solid cement that slowly turned into quick-sand when he changed his position, U.S. Senator Christopher Dodd (D) CT said Wednesday 03/18/09 that he was aware of changes in legislation for a loophole that allowed highly controversial bonuses for AIG , the embattled insurance company that has received federal bailout money.
Gov. M. Jodi Rell today 03-18-09 ordered the state's consumer protection agency to subpoena documents as part of an investigative effort aimed at voiding taxpayer-funded bonuses to executives of AIG Financial Products, based in Connecticut.
Rell ordered Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell Jr. to determine if the bonuses can be voided "as against public policy" under the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act.
She noted that AIG has cited a state law in justifying the use of federal bailout funds to pay the bonuses. "Since the company cited Connecticut law, they will have to live by Connecticut law," Rell said. "It is disgraceful that federal funds designed to prevent financial institutions from collapsing, and to make it possible for consumers to again borrow money, have instead been used to pay bonuses ...in the tens of millions of dollars."
Obviously Governor Rell is a product of the public school system, taught by union teachers, otherwise she would also know how to read and would understand the meaning of what is known as "the contract clause" of the US Constition found in Article I, section 10, clause 1, which prohibits the state from interfering in private contracts.
Maybe Rell should subpoena the records for all the bonuses paid to Coach Calhoun, a state employee with a $1.6 million salary, and a pension that is estimated to cost the State of Connecticut $1 million per year for the rest of his life, and then for the rest of his wife's life after he passes and leaves it to her.
Creating Green Jobs : The O'Brien fairy tale...He never worked a private Sector Job...
Introduced by: REP. O'BRIEN, 24th District: AN ACT CREATING GREEN JOBS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to establish a program to create jobs and promote green energy and conservation by establishing (1) a comprehensive program for public investment in clean energy, conservation, public transit and transit-oriented development, (2) a comprehensive program to create the manufacturing capability in Connecticut, primarily in the central cities, to supply this clean energy, conservation, public transit and transit-oriented development, and (3) a plan for state investment in this manufacturing.
Statement of Purpose: To create new manufacturing and other jobs in Connecticut by acting to move Connecticut into the green economy.
Over the years, as State Rep, Tim O'Brien's goal has been to make New Britain the "welfare city of Central Connecticut". This is in direct opposition to Mayor Tim Stewart, who's goal is to make New Britain a working class city again, with a combination of entry level to corporate officers as a work force...Give the welfare recipients a hand up instead of a handout, by helping to create good jobs in New Britain.
New Britain voters - Be careful, if Mr. O'Brien were elected mayor, property taxes will probably go up an average of 10% per year and completely drive out all business and the middle class.
O'Brien is clueless and has never had a private sector job in his life...
Apparently, O'Brien also represents a part of Newington, but is not well known in most of New Britain. He doesn't have a snowballs chance against Mayor Stewart.
Without Mayor Stewart, New Britain would be screwed.
If it weren't for Tim Stewart's business leadership, New Britain would be bankrupt and laying of 100's of employees like every other city in the state, like Hartford and its laying off of 250 teachers. Tim Mayor Stewart has managed the city of New Britain with a responsibility like no other leader, or it wouldn't be in such sound fiscal shape.
If you want to see your NB taxes skyrocket, just vote for a liberal Democrat and you will need to get another job just to pay your taxes. The average house in Hartford is over $10,000 a year in taxes. Is that what you really want with Mr. O'Brien?
FLAME?
