NB-RTC Chaiman's comments Fits the Council's Inactions

Paul Carver has put into words, in today's New Britain Herald, what I have been citing for some time and he has described the Council's inaction very well!

"Appropriate money, but take no action on legislation. Criticize the mayor's budget, but take no action on offering alternatives or improvements. Propose ethics rules, but take no action when Violations occur. Tax, but take no action to pay your own taxes."

  2. The Democrats are so full of themselves, they won't get the message behind Paul Carvers words. Maybe they'll get it in November, when they're voted off the council.

  3. In an older post here at FSSNB the
council voted for the Plate Finder to catch those with un-paid parking tickets. This equipment it stated can be uploaded to also
find and impound vehicles with over-due motor vehicle taxes. The same people that are making decisions regarding keeping the rest of us in line obviously have no fear that their rules will apply
to them. Mr. Cantanzaro is an employee at the Park & Rec department and does receive compensation for his time on the council. He can't keep current with with his taxes? How embarrassing.
    ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
You have another one of the tax cheat aldermen who is retired from the state, collecting a sizeable state pension and both he and his wife now work for the board of education and of course he too gets compensated for serving on the council, but they say that it is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS if they don't pay their taxes!!!!!

on election day, maybe you can MAKE IT YOUR BUSINESS!

  4. Maybe our eminent alderman is learning from the high ranking leaders of his own party?

When questioned by a member of the media about the pending investigations into 4 separate allegations of ethics violations, Congressman Charlie Wrangell replied on camera: "Why don't you mind your own God damn business."

So it follows that if the ethics violations of a Congressman are none of our business, then non-payment of taxes by our local elected officials is none of our business either.

    Way to go Democrats!

    CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN!!!!!

  6. Aren't some of these Council Members the same that accused Tom Bozek of double dipping? Only difference is, what he was fighting for, he worked for!! It's a case of the pot calling the kettle black!

    Frank:
Current NB Council Dems are pathetic. At least six of them don't have a clue as to what is going on in New Britain. Trueworthy, Bielinski,Sherwood, pompous ass, Gerrantana is following his genetic pedigree, Hermaowski is just an arrogant oaf and Catanzorro is cluless. Does anybody what Gerrantana drives, where he lives and what he does for a living? All the Dems know is that they have 13 votes - they don't realize that the "law" trumps that idea.
Unpaid taxes, questionable registration of cars, questionable domicile addresses, etc. How can one trust these bunglers? You can thank a former Dem Mayor and a current carpetbagger, NB state legislator for giving us our current Common Council makeup. Most of the current Council members couldn't be elected on the pre 2002 voting regulations. Who do you thank for that?
These Council Dems care about nobody but themselves. Counct on it! Stay tuned, more to come.

Centeno has three sources of income and won't pay his taxes - his wife says, "it's none of your business!" Collins and Cruz are still nowhere to be found.

  8. leave poor Catanzaro alone. He's not rich and couldn't afford to pay $200 in car taxes. He may have multiple incomes, but he needs them all to pay his restaurant tabs!

  9. We will be glad when the drive-by media get their collective lips off Obamas butt and cover him as they have other presidents...

...They are so scared of Jessie Jackson and others pulling out the daily race card... when will they actually toss him hard questions ... now that the 100 days love-fest of President Obama is ending.

  10. Obama's TV Ratings Slide: Press Conference Down 29%.

The TV Audience interest in Barack Obama’s recent news tel-e-promp-ter conferences seems to be falling, with Wednesday’s 04/29/09 press event drawing the president’s smallest prime time audience since his inauguration.

No mule... no 20 collective acres.

  11. It wasn’t the big salaries that GM execs got that drove the company to the brink of bankruptcy and an effective nationalization: it was the the overly generous pensions and free medical care for GM retirees that broke the camel’s back.

  12. Reading the reports on our current council members would make one wonder how it is possible for this to continue. It is simple. There are only a handful of taxpaying residents that pay any attention to the elected officials, their crimes and ethics violations. You would think that with an upcoming election this fall that these idiots will without question be replaced. I doubt it. Have we heard from the RTC that they have strong viable candidates to oppose
these democrats? No. Have we heard from strong viable democrats that would be interested in turning their party around and bring respect back to the DTC, NO.
Most taxpayers are too busy trying to work to pay their taxes and have
little time left over for city service. Other intelligent residents wouldn't want to engage in this circle of people. It's like thinking about jumping into
a lion pit? would you be interested. City politics remains
    predictable. And the idiots just
    laugh same old, same old.

Frank, do you believe the front page of the Herald today? Herald reporter, Craven wrote that the Dems are setting up their slate for the upcoming Municipal election. Probable candidates are listed for Mayor (ding dong O'Brien), tax collector (O'Brien's aide "I don't pay NB taxes Gerratona"), treasurer, town clerk and some candidates for Common Council. The list of incumbents probably running for common council includes: Sherwack, Eva M., tax scofflaw Centeno, Cruz, Black, Mike "the babbler" and Larry H. I guess the other Council incumbents haven't made up their minds yet.

They also mentioned non incumbent, Frank Smith! Frank, have you changed nationality from American to Puerto Rican? I guess you'll have to stop blogging against the Dems too! Maybe this is the Dems way of getting you to stop - it's a well used tactic for them.

You'll have to agree to join them in blasting the Mayor and the two Rs on the Council.

I can assure you I will blast anyone that deserves it whether he or she be a democrat or a republican.

Your are forgetting the endorsement process.

  15. Why doesn't John McNamara run for Mayor? He's such a great leader of the Democratic Town Committee (Tongue in Cheek)! Michael Trustworthy can then become Chairman of the Town Committee, with Bielinski as co-chairman (they do so well together on the Council). Phil Sherwood can be chairman of the Ethics Committee. The list can go on and on!!

Frank, I hope you force a primary for the alderman position...The city needs more people with political savvy than what's in that ward now. You've been around for a few years, and know what's what. We can barely understand one of the council members from that district..it would be a pleasure to have an experienced person on the ticket.

  17. From many of the previous posts, you are assuming that Frank Smith would run for council on the Democratic ticket, but what if he were to run on the Republican ticket in his ward?

NOW THAT IS CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN!

Why doesn't John McNamara run for Mayor?

Wake up New Britain! The only reason this city isn't in the toilet like the state and virtually all other cities in Connecticut is because of the responsible management of Mayor Timothy Stewart. If you lose his leadership, you might as well get ready for the flush, especially if the lunatics on the city council get their way. You know, the same ones who don't pay their taxes, while raising yours!

Obviously the president feels that the Supreme Court has the same membership requirements that Phony Phil supports for the New Britain City council!

  21. Maybe we need an ordinance that prohibits you from running if you owe taxes, but then there wouldn't be any Democrats qualified to run!

Did anyone follow up to make sure his taxes for both his car and his house were paid, or was that really none of our business as he insists?
