CITY COMMISSIONERS: TAX DELINQUENCIES

The following city Commissioners or elected officials are listed on the delinquent tax list for motor vehicle taxes as of March 4, 2009. This same list was used to report the delinquent taxes for members of the city council and both the Democratic and Republican Town Committees, so in fairness to those individuals, I am reporting anyone who was listed as delinquent on that same date.

Fairview Cemetery Commission:
Harry S. Plaut $66.61 (also a member of the RTC)
(Harry S. Plaut is also listed as the owner/manager of the H.S. Plaut Cemetery Co. which is shown as owing the city $689.32 in delinquent taxes for two separate vehicles.)

Veteran’s Commission:
Chester S. Pietras $ 100.65

Human Rights & Opportunities:
Gladys Navedo $187.15

Housing Authority:
Gary V. Riley $370.37

Civil Service Commission:
Commissioner Homer Q. White $453.03
Appointee Michael T. Yagmin $574.64

Plan Commission:
John P. Evelth Jr. $197.74

Commission of Community & Neighborhood Development:
Peter Spano $542.28 (also Secretary of the DTC)
Alphonse Wright $ 371.90 (Chair of the commission and also a member of the RTC)

Housing Code Board of Appeals:
Nicholas J. Paonessa $84.09 (also a member of the RTC)
Peter Oshana $73.46

Board of Fire Commissioners:
Donald R. Gregory $448.09 (also a member of the RTC) (Commissioner Gregory has reported that he paid this bill on 4/29 and issued a public apology for his late payment)

Constables:
Alton Brooks $82.52 (also a member of the DTC)

Board of Assessment Appeals:
Nicholas J. Paonessa $84.09 (also a member of the RTC)

  2. where's the right wing partisan outcry? Where is the statement from carver calling for mayor to reprimand HIS APPOINTED commissioners.
personally none of this is a big deal to me but it has been to the republicans, so where is there outcry...

  3. The Democrats keep posting nasty comments about frank smith being anti-democrat, which doesn't even make sense since he is an elected democrat.

I think he has given just as much attention to the republican town committee and commissioners as he has to the democrats.

The only reason it may appear that he has given more attention to the Democrats is because of the list of the Democratic Aldermen that were tax delinquents. I believe he would have given equal attention to Republican elected officials that were tax delinquents, but unfortunately for the Democrats there were no elected Republicans who didn't pay their taxes on time, so instead of accepting responsibility for their own bad behavior, they as usual blame everyone else for their delinquencies!

  4. Paonessa was an interim assessment appeals member - and not a good one I hear.

  5. it must be tough hearing appeals on taxes when you haven't paid your own?

  6. Exactly.

Ever have the dis-pleasure of speaking with Mr. Paonessa you would have thought he was the tax
    board of appeals.

THE OUTSRY WAS NOT FROM THE RIGHT WING IT WAS FROM TAX PAYING CITIZENS. PLEASE GET A GRIP OF YOURSELF. THE ATTITUDE OF THE LIKES OF FOLKS LIKE YOU IS DISMAYING TO SAY THE LEAST. IT IS AMAZING HOW MEMBERS OF THE SOCIALIST LEFT (YES I KNOW THAT IS A ASSUMTION) CAN TURN A LIST ISSUED BY A MEMBER OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY INTO A RIGHT WING REPUBLICAN CONSPIRICY. (TRULY AMAZING).

I FOR ONE WILL BE VOTING FOR FRANK SMITH THE DEMOCRATIC CANIDATE BECAUSE THE ARROGANT AND DEMEANING ATTITUDE OF THE CURRENT PARTY LEADERS IS AN EMBARRASMENT TO HARD WORKING DEMOCRATS IN TOWN.

I WILL BE CAMPAINING FOR A CONPLETE SWEEP FROM THE COUNCIL OF ALL DEMOCRATS REMOTLY ASSOCIATED WITH THE LIKES OF DTC CHAIRMAN MACNAMARA AND HIS GROUP OF HOOLAGINS ON THE COUNCIL LED BY THE (BORDERING ON COMMUNIST) SOCIALIST ALDERMAN SHERWOOD.

    LET THE GAMES BEGIN

It sounds like the public is catching on to the socialist games of you and your band of merry men, Mr. McNamara.

There was no need for the party chairman or the mayor to reprimand anyone, because not one elected Republican official was late with his/her taxes. Too bad you can't say the same for your group of misfits, Mr McNamara.

This time, the joke is on you!

  9. The message is now quite clear...members of both the Democratic and Republican parties, from elected officials, commissioners and board members are or were delinquent on their taxes. Wouldn't it be just as practical to list all delinquent taxpayers? It happens...let's get over it!!

  10. While we are talking about our taxes, check this story out. Doris Kurtz and Fran Wolski always scream the loudest and complain the most about the children being hurt because of the cuts in their outrageous school board budget.

Wolski is being honored at a Women in Leadership YWCA luncheon to be held at the Aqua Turf. She, undoubtedly, was nominated by her close friend, Doris Kurtz. Rumor has it that that Wolski is not going to seek another term on the BOE.

Kurtz has invited the BOE members and the administrators to attend on the taxpayer's dime!

Since Wolski was instrumental in hiring Kurtz and defending her ad infinatum over all these years, inspite of plumenting test scores and low morale amongst the teachers and principals, one would think that Kurtz would pay for everyone out of her own pocket!

  11. Frank, you have done a good job !

If you choose to accept it here is another research project for you.

Other than car taxes you should be looking taxes OTHER than cars. ie Home, boats, planes. Properties owned by the individuals but registered in another state or town. Maybe like cars registered in Wisconsin that are driven on our streets. Kurtz pulled this stunt when she first arrived and did not register her car or pay taxes.( I am not sure about her husbands car )

This could be a never ending job.

    Good Hunting

Gleanings from Frank's blog: from "the tax man cometh"; this person spelled "remotely" incorrectly as "remotly." I like his spelling better even though again, incorrect - Council democrats are a "motley" bunch.

Someone suggested looking at all types of scofflaws; can't wait for the city's new tracking device starts being used.

About Wolski: yes, she is joined at the hip with Kurtz, a misguided soul. Taxpers should not be paying for dinners honoring anyone! Let Kurtz pay for them out of her bloated salary. Wolski not running again? One can only hope. Maybe she can take Sanders with her. Despite Kurtz's annual whining about the Ed. Budget, she and the BOE alwaysmake sure there is enough money for food.

  13. Yup, stuffing their faces off the backs of the tax payers!

    Pigs.

  14. Whoever wrote Wolski should take Sanders with her when she goes certainly does not read or have followed Sanders career.

He is probably the most honest and hard working person on the Board of Education. He has hammered the unholy threesome (Kurtz, Kochol and Wolski) consistently over the years.

  15. I agree. Mr. Sanders serves both the children and the taxpayers well.
