Typical liberal shakedown of non-government businesses. I think Larry Tanner has more "friends" than DeFronzo, Tercyak, Geragosian, and O'Brien combined.
When are the New Britain voters going to wake up and do something about these guys?
When will the Republicans run credible candidates to defeat these guys?
The status quo is fat, dumb, happy and CORRUPT and isn't WORKING. How's the stimulus working? How's the Connecticut budget? How's the Connecticut economy?
SHERWOOD IS LYING ON PURPOSE TO TRY TO ENRAGE NEW BRITAIN CITIZENS. NEW BRITAIN CANNOT SELL WHAT IT DOESN'T OWN. THE CITY DOES NOT OWN THE HOSPITAL GARAGE. THE HOSPITAL DOES. ALSO, WHICH OF OUR USELESS 5 STATE LEGISLATORS IS GOING TO STAND UP AND SAY, WE'RE GOING TO MAKE YOU DO WHAT WE WANT. WHAT ARROGANCE AND STUPIDITY FROM SHERWOOD!
The mayor is trying to generate cash in difficult times. Everything is on the table including water, garages and yes people land. The city has an agreement to turn their rights to utilize this garage over to THOCC in 2013, then the income stream is gone forever. You cannot legislate a change to an existing lease, but I'll bet you DeFronzo and his lackey O(I want to be mayor)Brien will try to get some press at the expense of the hospital. They have added more than 300 jobs to this community over the past 3 years and continue to get embarassed by these elected officials with socialist agendas. I say kudos to the Mayor for trying to plug a projected deficit, at least he is doing something positive not criticizing those that are not.
On it’s Wednesday Night 06/24/09 Council agenda the NB Common Council voted to refer three Resolutions pertaining to the sale of City Property to it’s Planning, Zoning and Housing Subcommittee for a Public hearing.
Resolution No. 7 deals with the sale of 60-acre Pinnacle Heights property to developer Tartagalia Associates for $5 million dollars.
Resolution No. 8 is for the sale of property at 121-131 Main St. to ArĂȘte Development Group for $2 million dollars.
And...Resolution No. 13 is a proposal to terminate the ground lease for the George A. Quigley Parking Garage with the Hospital of Central Connecticut.
The Planning, Zoning and Housing Subcommittee public hearing - July 7, 2009 at 7:00pm Council Chambers City Hall.
NOTE: Alderman Phil Sherwood, the strongest advocate for renegotiation of the George Quigley Parking Garage at the Hospital, said he would be willing to use the POWER of the New Britain Legislative Delegation to move NB Hospital Administrators in the right Political direction?
We are in the position of POWER, Alderman Sherwood said after the Council meeting of 06/24/09. We can make them do what we want?
Let me get this straight "anonymous", you want government to run everything? Even businesses it doesn't own? Ya. Right.
How's that TARP working out? How'd that "stimulus" work out? Unemployment reaching 15% under Pres Obama. I can only image the howling from the democrats and their mouth pieces the "fair and balanced" main stream media (ya right again) if Pres Bush was still in office.
Bernanke and Grithner (too important to indict for tax FRAUD) are printing money so fast this country will look like the South American economy (hyper inflation) of the 1970's.
Yup anonymous. THIS democrat controlled federal, state, and local government deserves to take over everything!
Everyone logging into this blog should attend the Planning, Zoning and Housing Subcommittee public hearing on July 7, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Speak up and show them who REALLY has the power...we the people!!
This is the voice of the people. We are tired of leaders looking out for only themselves in action while proclaiming lofty goals that are only empty rhetoric.
It appears that New Britain's state legislative contingent is willing to allow Alderman Sherwood to use their names to threaten the Hospital of Central Connecticut not to complete their tentative agreement with The City of New Britain to terminate the lease of the hospital parking garage. Evidently they are of the same mind as Sherwood, warped!
Sounds like the Mayor is trying to dump this garage before Obama gets his way and this hospital is seized by the federal government and we are all waiting 3 to 5 years for a hospital admission--just like in Canada, and the UK.
“We are in the position of power,” Sherwood said after the meeting. “We can make them do what we want.”
ReplyDeleteYou think so??? You just lost my vote!!
I can see why our founding fathers put an age restriction in our constitution to run for higher office.

To NB Voter:
ReplyDeleteI agree, let's forfeit any leverage we have and handover the candystore to a private entity like republicans seem to do too often.
He also lost our vote?
ReplyDeleteisn't POWER all these Democrats are about? POWER over the rest of us and our daily lives?

George W. didn't have the arrogance this guy has.
sounds like someone believes he is as untouchable as Elliott Ness?
ReplyDeleteThis group of non representing scum needs to be voted out!

ReplyDeleteHere's a novel idea, why don't we trust the mayor to do the job he was elected to do and make a deal he thinks is in the best interest of the city?

I agree!
