Just before the 2008 elections, the conservative economist and commentator Thomas Sowell warned that a Barack Obama presidency would prove a "point of no return" for America.
Why? Because once in power, Dr. Sowell explained, President Obama and the Democratic majorities in Congress would effect such radical changes in our nation's economy, legal structure and social fabric that there would be no rolling them back.
WE ARE ON THE BRINK of a government takeover of the health care industry that will empower federal bureaucrats to make life-and-death decisions about your medical care -- a system certain to favor the politically well-connected over ordinary citizens, as it does in Canada -- and that will put all your private medical records in a government database (don't worry, they promise never to use them against you)
The problem is really not the politicians and their ideas the problem lies with the voter. The voters, the American citizens chose this. They go like lambs to the slaughter. Many are still excited about "change". They are going to get healthcare, mortgage assistance they are waiting on line with their hands out. They want the easy road. Be careful what you wish for.
How do those of us who know better fight it and come out on top? Can we get a handle on this before the road to no return. Stand up and be heard.
What was a terrible week for Barack Obama likely worsened Sunday when the Washington Post editorial board accused the President of withholding from the public the true costs of the healthcare reform he so eagerly seeks.
1) President Obama's argument that our choice is between a) his bill right now and b) no reform for another forty years is fallacious.
2) His refusal to answer basic questions about how we are going to pay for his bill (refusing to take off the table the massive surtax option while also refusing to say he plans on using it if he can) is not fair.
3) Independent budgetary analysts disagree with the President about what this reform bill will do to minimize overall government health expenditures (the president says we "can't afford" not to pass his bill) and about the impact of the 1 trillion dollar cost on other parts of our economy.
Euthanasia is not explicitly excluded from the category of basic health care either. If it is not excluded, eventually it will be demanded, and we will pay for it.
The working slobs won't have any choice in the matter either. Don't believe what they are telling us. Only the truly wealthy will be able to pay for the best health care available. The rest of us will be told what can and can't be done for us within the goverment guidelines.
Every American would like an HONEST healthcare reform bill for the legal American citizens of this country - for EVERY legal American citizen INCLUDING our politicians. Therein lies the problem. WE THE PEOPLE do NOT want THIS bill. There are parts of this bill which contain unnecessary waste, parts which invite further corruption AND parts which many of us believe go beyond the bounds of human decency. Too much of our money is already being wasted - too much of our money is going to deals for politicians and their cronies who cover each others backs, and if we call them on these aspects we're either ignored or insulted. It's OUR money. They work for US. In third world nations dictators destroy the food supply to control the people - while here the president and congress are deliberately destroying our economy to control us - while they build up their own personal wealth thru new investments. We want it stopped. We want congress cleaned out. WE THE PEOPLE are taking back control of our country. Give us a "CLEAN" bill. And sign up your OWN selves and your OWN families Congress!
. . . a socialist policy is abhorrent to the ... ideas of freedom. Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the object worship of the state. It will prescribe for every one where they are to work, what they are to work at, where they may go and what they may say. Socialism is an attack on the right to breathe freely. No socialist system can be established without a political police. They would have to fall back on some form of Gestapo, no doubt very humanely directed in the first instance.
Winston Churchill in an electoral broadcast prior to the British general election of 1945:
Conservatives are used to hearing liberals gloat about how the island paradise that is Cuba provides free health care to its fortunate denizens. Apparently there's now yet another country that we have to look up to: Rwanda.
On her MSNBC show this afternoon, Dr. Nancy Snyderman proclaimed herself "jealous" of Rwanda, which reportedly provides health insurance coverage to 90% of its citizens.
Snyderman's guest was Mary Robinson. The former President of Ireland is now in charge of "the Ethical Globalization Initiative" at the hoity-toity Aspen Institute. Snyderman seemed intent on drawing her guest into making invidious comparisons between the US and the rest of the world.
Negotiators trying to find ways to fund a $1 trillion health care overhaul on Capitol Hill have floated a tax on plastic surgery as a possible revenue raiser, a senior Republican aide told FOX News.
When Blue Dog Democrats revolted over the cost of ObamaCare 10 days ago, the White House quickly came up with a plan to give them political cover: a government board that would tell Congress how to restrain costs. Well, so much for that, as the Congressional Budget Office has now exposed this idea as another false economy.

Looks like they finally found a way to require every US citizen to carry his "papers," just like Nazi Germany!
