MURPHY NEW BRTAIN HEALTH CARE MEETING A SHAM!

CONGRESSMAN PROPOSES ONE HEALTH CARE FOR ALL!

Today’s New Britain Herald reported that Congressman Chris Murphy opened his office doors on Tuesday to “anyone wanting to talk about the problems facing those with too little or no health insurance.” This meeting was a slap in the face to all of you who have been trying to schedule a town hall type meeting with the Congressman to talk about the President’s plan to take over control of health care in this nation. (Murphy listens to local health care woes by James Craven The Herald August 25, 2009).

I personally have faxed, e-mailed and called Congressman Murphy’s New Britain office several times in an effort to set up a town hall meeting for a group of New Britain seniors. The only response I have received are several empty promises made by his staff that someone would get back to me, but no one ever does.

The article quotes 7 people who came to the office, all who have hardship cases that left them without any health insurance. While I sympathize with the situations these individuals face, the article gives the impression (possibly unintentionally) that only 7 people cared enough to attend. I believe that they are the only people invited to the meeting. I know that I was not invited, and I also know several other people who would have been happy to attend, if invited. Since I could find no public posting for the meeting, I can only conclude that the Congressman handpicked only those he wanted to attend who support for the President’s plan for government take-over of health care.

Congressman Murphy is quoted as saying: “We shouldn’t have a two-tier system” and “Poor people shouldn’t get one price attached to their care and rich people another.” I can’t see any way to interpret these two statements to mean anything other than the Congressman supports one nationalized, single-payer system for all—similar to Canada and the United Kingdom.

The article also quotes the Congressman as saying: “Despite some people against it, the majority of people that I represent want something to happen” and “We will pass a bill through the House and with Obama’s help, we’ll get the Senate to go along.”

To make such statements, clearly Congressman Murphy did not listen to the people who confronted him in Simsbury, or he just doesn’t care what the majority of people have to say on the subject. The latest national poll shows people are overwhelmingly against this government run health care with 57% against the President’s plan and only 34% supporting the plan (Think Progress August 19th). Rasmussen, Zogby and Gallup also show that the majority are against this plan, so I wonder where the Congressman gets his polling data?

Perhaps Congressman Murphy would have a better handle on what the people really want if he would accept some of the invitations for town hall meetings, and actually allow the public to attend? Why is he continuing to hide from his constituents?

  2. I have also called Murphy's office asking when the Congressman will be holding additional Town Hall meetings. I was told by his staff that he was still considering whether or not to have additional meetings. I too was told be his office that they would get back to me with a schedule, but no calls.

Yesterday the Congressman was speaking on talk radio. He was told that under his house health care plan, that Private Health Care Insurance would no longer be an option once a Public Health Care plan is passed. His response …. Well if we made a mistake, we made a mistake. How disingenuous was that statement.

It’s obvious that he is not going to listen to his constituents, but to Nancy Pelosi. I can only hope that all of you see the type of Representative we have and vote him out of office in the next election. He puts the priority of his party before his constituents!

  3. Chris Murphy is not holding any public town hall meetings because he is scared for his own safety.
People are angry and that anger is
    escalating to potential violence.
If national healthcare is pushed through, I hate to see the civil war that erupts.

  4. It is clear that Murphy cares not what we think.

He is only interested in pleasing radicals like Pelosi, and fringe groups like ACORN, HEALTHCARE FOR AMERICA NOW, CCAG, WORKING FAMILIES PARTY and so on.

Unless you are in the less than 5% of America that is a left wing extremist, he is obviously not interested in your interests or your opinion.

Like Pelosi keeps saying, your opposition to government take-over of health care is phony and you are a Nazi.

What is he afraid of. All of the violence has been committed by members of the fringe groups he is aligned with, so isn't it the regular Americans who are risking their safety by meeting with him?

  6. So the next time that you get to see Congressman Murphy, just picture Nancy Pelosi in a man’s suit!

  7. Any Congressman who is afraid to meet with you as one of his constituents should make you afraid to vote for him next election.

  8. I will work hard to campaign for anyone who is willing to challenge Murphy in the next election!

    Congressman Tim Stewart anyone?

  9. Could it be that Murphy is saying he is afraid for his safety because the only way he would hold another town meeting would be to follow Obama's instructions and load the meeting with bused in members of those radical groups that Murphy seems to like so much so that they can make their phony demands for a single payer system that Murphy already said he is in favor of and he is afraid his radical supporters will get violent?

  10. Mr. Congressman:
The latest poll released today says that only 24% of DEMOCRATS support the government health care plan you intend to ram through. Perhaps you should start listening to your voters, unless you are looking forward to saying "bye bye" in 2010 when you are replaced by a REPUBLICAN. What else would you expect when even 3/4 of your own party are opposed to what you plan to do??????

  11. The screamers in Simsbury were an organized group of wackos. They represent a tiny sliver of the population -- the haters and screamers.

Congressman Murphy supports a health care system where people can keep their existing plan, or get another plan through a private insurer, or get a plan run by the government. (Check out his web site before making false statements of what he supports.)

Private insurers are scared of the public plan choice, because it would be cheaper than theirs for the same coverage. (The government doesn't need to make a profit. Corporations do.)

Today, one third of all health care spending is by the federal government -- Medicare, Medicaid, and the insurance plan for federal employees, their families and federal retirees. These plans work just fine.

THIS POSTING MUST HAVE COME FROM SOMEONE IN MURPHY'S OFFICE OR THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY ITSELF BECAUSE IT IS SO FULL OF LIES AND PROPAGANDA, I HAVE NEVER READ SUCH B.S. BEFORE:

To start out with, the people in Simsbury were the "real deal" unlike the 1,000 phony protests the Democrats are staging with the use of paid agitators from ACORN, SEUI and other radical organizations over the next 2 weeks across the country.

Try reading the bill, which I have right in front of me, and Murphy clearly hasn't read it from his ignorance on the subject, or he is intentionally lying to the public--you decide.

HR3200 creates a government control of all health care in this nation that is so massive and controlling, that any dictator in the world would be jealous of it.

Did Murphy comment on the sections that control how much a doctor can make, how much property he can own, or the fact that he can never buy property again without permission of an Obama Czar?

Did Murphy comment on the section that is in fact in the bill that was named a "death panel" that requires an analysis of the cost effectiveness based on how many years you may be expected to live, and you must be expected to live long enough for the government to justify spending any money on your care based on your productiveness to society? In other words severe rationing for the elderly???

Did Murphy comment on how the entire bill is designed to put all private insurance out of business and force everyone into the "government option"?

Did Murphy explain that it is not free and that everyone must pay whatever a government bureaucrat decides to charge you, otherwise why do they mandate that you grant them access to all your banking accounts so that they can automatically withdraw funds from your accounts?

Did Murphy explain that only a private insurance company approved by an Obama Czar can be acceptible and that the resrictions are designed to eliminate any competition with the government and force everyone into their plan and that any private insurance that was not in effect on day 1 of the plan can never be added as "acceptable"?

Did Murphy outline the sections which specifically state that anyone who is eligible for Medicare or Medicaid is MANDATED to be enrolled in the government "option" and that all Medicare supplemental plans become illegal on passage of the plan that supposedly allows you to keep the insurance you want?

Did Murphy comment on the fact that this is not really about health care, as Ronald Reagan explained in 1961, but about transforming this entire country into socialism through the power of one man to control all of our lives like a dictator?

If it were really about providing health care for the needy 5 to 7 million who are in need of coverage, we could do that easily without disrupting the coverage of 90 to 95% of Americans who are happy with what they have, but it is clearly about POWER. Some of the unspent trillion dollars in stimulus money that isn't stimulating to anyone bu government could provide free health care to everyone who needs it tomorrow, but that would avoid creating a huge government bureaucracy that could control our lives, and the left is not about to give up on ruling everyone's life, are they?

  13. If your socialist plan is so good, why is it that the latest poll shows only 24% of Democrats support it. Why do 3/4 of your own party oppose your health care takeover????????

    Please spare me.

The costs of Medicare doubled every four years between 1966 and 1980. According to the 2004 "Green Book" of the House Ways and Means Committee, Medicare expenditures from the American government were $256.8 billion in fiscal year 2002. Beneficiary premiums are highly subsidized, and net outlays for the program, accounting for the premiums paid by subscribers, were $230.9 billion. Medicare spending is growing steadily in both absolute terms and as a percentage of the federal budget. Total Medicare spending reached $440 billion for fiscal year 2007, or 16%of all federal spending. Given the current pattern of spending growth, maintaining Medicare's financing over the long-term may well require significant changes. According to the 2008 report by the board of trustees for Medicare and Social Security, Medicare spent more than it brought in from taxes. The Medicare hospital insurance trust fund will become insolvent by 2019. The 10-year cost of Medicare drug benefit is 37% lower than originally projected in 2003, and 17% percent lower than last year's projections. Spending on Medicare and Medicaid is projected to grow dramatically in coming decades. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has indicated that: "Future growth in spending per beneficiary for Medicare and Medicaid—the federal government’s major health care programs—will be the most important determinant of long-term trends in federal spending. The CBO also projects that "total federal Medicare and Medicaid outlays will rise from 4 percent of GDP in 2007 to 12 percent in 2050 and 19 percent in 2082—which, as a share of the economy, is roughly equivalent to the total amount that the federal government spends today. The bulk of that projected increase in health care spending reflects higher costs per beneficiary rather than an increase in the number of beneficiaries associated with an aging population.

Also as far as federal employees go

Health insurance premiums for federal employees are expected to rise by an average of 7 percent in 2009, three times the 2008 increase of 2.1 percent.

Federal employees’ premiums will climb an additional 13% next year for enrollees in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans. Sixty percent of federal workers are enrolled in one of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans.

This doesn't sound like it is "working just fine" to me.

If the government run "option" that isn't an option for us little people is such a wonderful utopia, then why don't Congressmen like Murphy enroll their families into it instead of protecting them from government rule by exempting themselves?

  16. Don't forget that HR3200 provides everything for free to illegal aliens, while charging Americans for the same service. We pay, but the people who don't even belong here get everything free.

  17. Rush Limbaugh suggested the best eulogy possible to remember Senator Kennedy: to guarantee every citizen the right to purchase the same elitist private insurance and private health care that Kennedy had at our expense by keeping government out of our health care.

If his proposed plan was so wonderful, why did his bill exempt himself and his family and allow him to keep receiving better insurance (at our expense) than he would force the rest of us to have?

  18. Did Murphy happen to comment on the $1.8 billion pork that is hidden in HR3200 to build jungle gyms and farmer's markets?

Or the fact that it creates "federal health police" to visit school cafeterias and restaurants to make sure they are serving "healthy food?"

  19. For those who believe the Democratic talking points Congressman Murphy is offering you, try reading the bill (*HR3200) for yourself (even if he hasn't):

Sec. 123, Pg. 30: A GOVERNMENT COMMMITTEE will decide what treatments and benefits you get.

Sec. 142, Pg. 42, the HEALTH CHOICES COMMISSIONER determines your benefits for you.

For whoever is lying and claiming that illegal aliens will not be covered: Sec. 152, Pg. 50-51: Health care is provided to ALL NON-US CITIZENS.

For those who believe everything will be free: Sec. 163, Pg 59, Lines 21-24: Government will have direct access to your bank accounts for electronic funds transfer (unless you are a "NON-US CITIZEN).

For whoever keeps lying to you and telling you if you like your current plan, you are free to keep it (I wonder who that is?): Sec. 201, Pg. 72, Lines 8-14: Government is creating a Health Care Exchange to bring private plans under government control. read on:

Sec. 203, Pg 84: Government mandates ALL benefit packages for private health care in the exchange. (insurance is not allowed unless it is in the "exchange").

Sec. 203, Pg. 85, Line 7: Specifications of benefit levels for plans (means that the government will define your health care plan and has the ability to ration your care!

Sec. 205, Pg. 102, Lines 12-18: Medicaid-eligible individuals will be automatically enrolled--you have no choice--it is required by law!

For you doctors: Sec. 225, Pg. 127, Lines 1-16: The government will determine how much doctors are allowed to make. Even better for you doctors: Sec. 1156, Pg. 317, Lines 13-20: PROHIBITION on physician ownership or investment. (government tells doctors what/how much property they can or can not own! (sounds like Russia, doesn't it?

Sec. 1162, Pg. 335-339, Lines 16-25: Government mandates establishment of outcome-based measures (in plain language: rationing!)

For you elderly citizens: Sec. 1162, Pg. 341, Lines 3-9: The government has the authority to disqualify Medicare Advantage Plans (Part B), HMOS, etc. This will force people into the government plan. ("The secretary may determine not to identify a Medicare Advantage plan if the Secretary has identified deficiencies in the plan's compliance with rules for such plans under this part") Remember this is the same secretary who has broad powers to make whatever rules he/she wants. Who was it that told you if you like your current plan, you can keep it?

    Do you believe him?

  22. CONGRESSMAN ASKS FOR ID FROM CONSTITUENTS BEFORE ALLOWING QUESTION AT TOWN HALL MEETING

We should all be very concerned about the current leadership within congress. Recently while surfing the internet news sites I came across a link to this video of a Congressman asking a constituent for ID before he would allow him to ask a question at a town hall style meeting. I am not kidding. A member of the Party that advocates for ID not being required to cast votes in elections has the gall to ask this guy for ID. Check it out for your selves because I too couldn't believe it before I saw it with my own eyes!
