I see the story doesn't credit Mayor Stewart for playing a part in negotiating this give back with the union? To read the article, the union walked into city hall and said "we want to give back our wages because we see it as the thing to do."

The 52.2% Unemployment Rate - Age 16 to 24 Years Old...The U.S.A. Dead End Kids - No Jobds...

...The unemployment rate for young Americans has exploded to 52.2 percent -- a post-World War II high, according to the Labor Dept. -- meaning millions of Americans are staring at the likelihood that their lifetime earning potential will be diminished and, combined with the predicted slow economic recovery, their transition into productive members of society could be put on hold for an extended period of time.

And worse, without a clear economic recovery plan aimed at creating entry-level jobs, the odds of many of these young adults -- aged 16 to 24, excluding students -- getting a job and moving out of their parents' houses are long.

Young workers have been among the hardest hit during the current recession -- in which a total of 9.5 million jobs have been lost.

Dear Frank,
It took longer than it should have because of the lack of information passed to the employees from their union representatives. If this did not pass then 12-14 people would have been laid off within two weeks after the voting took place. Unfortunately the "mob" mentality took over at the first meeting but cooler heads prevailed after some of the members petitioned for a new vote. All I was seeking was a deferral in the wage increments for a six month period of time, not a significant ask to avoid layoffs. Glad it finally worked out to a successful conclusion. Thanks to all of the members who voted in favor of the proposal.
