Alderman Catanzaro: The Ultimate Hypocrite, Only Opposed To Some Wars?
FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:
In April, 2007, by another gang of 13 (13-2 vote) The New Britain City Council passed a resolution condemning the Iraq War. Speaking on this resolution, Alderman Paul Catanzaro was quoted in The Herald as saying: "An abomination is when you send [soldiers} into war ill-equipped. And when they come home and have benefits cut, that's an abomination." ("Angry approval goes to firefighter OT, vote on war" April 23, 2008, by Rick Guinness).
But why is Alderman Catanzaro and the other 12 members of his gang on the council so quiet now? General Stanley McChrystal, the Afghan Troop Commander who was hand picked by President Obama, asked the President for 40,000 more troops, warning that the U.S. could face defeat, and that many of our soldiers might be killed unnecessarily if the general didn't get the extra assistance he needs. That was more than 5 weeks ago, and President Obama is still trying to make a decision on what to do?
Where is Alderman Catanzaro and the rest of his liberal gang on the council to condemn President Obama for putting our men and women in jeopardy through his inaction? Alderman Catanzaro doesn't see this indecision, even incompetence by President Obama as an "abomination," even though he is endangering our troops by sitting on his hands?
Some of you may wonder what business the New Britain City Council has sticking their noses into international affairs, but they chose to make it their business by ramming through a resolution against the previous President, now this President can apparently do no wrong in their eyes, even when risking the lives of America's service men and women.
Now that's hypocrisy you can believe in!
Frank: Your story here is typical of what this Council Baker's Dozen of Democrats does all the time. Catanzaro especially loves to bring up issues such as this; Eva Mugnazewski also does this - she wanted to take time at every Council meeting to have a moment of appreciation/ support for our troops. Does she want that now that Obama is president?
ReplyDeleteSherwood and the other Dems also prevented the Hospital of Central Conn. from terminating their Parking Garage Lease with the City two years early. This would have netted over $2million for the City, NOW! Now, Sherwood complains that the City lost $1 million on that deal. The taxpayers of New Britain don't need two more years of these kinds of behaviors. The Dems need to be voted out of the Council. Vote for the Multiparty Slate of The Stewart Team!
Frank you have touched on my biggest pet peeve with the democrats on the common council.
ReplyDeleteConsidering the laundry list of issues facing citizens of New Britain it just burns me up that these "CITY" aldermen and women think that they were voted into office to make proclamations on national security decisions on behalf of the residents of New Britain.
Instead of wasting their time on issues that
(a) They have no authority
(b) Were not elected to address
(c) for the most part have no competence discussing,
They should be working on things that they were voted into office to address.
Maybe if they took more time figuring out what committees and commissions they belong to (e.g. alderman Trueworthy) they might be able to represent their constituents in a more informed capacity.
It is long past time that the democrats on New Britain common council learn that they were voted into office to represent their constituents’ in the legislative branch of "THE CITY OF NEW BRITAIN".
That brings me to the issue of Tim O'Brien and his buddy's within the WFP/ACORN and all of the alderpersons within the McNamara wing of the DTC.
PAC money from "NEW YORK"?
Answering to Bertha Lewis?
Canvassers who are not from town or even aware of its current issues.
John McNamara, Tim O'Brien and his slate do not and cannot represent the interest of New Britain because they have a bigger agenda.
Their agenda is a socialist one and their goal is Big City Government that is dependent on Big State Government that is dependent on Big Federal Government and ultimately dependent on them (the ultra liberal socialist wing of the democratic party.
Conflicts Catanazaro is apparently only against "Republican Wars"
ReplyDeleteWhat a hypocrite!
What about Eva M's ridiculous statement about the Iraq War?
ReplyDeleteMagnuszewski's resolution amended to cast equal blame on President Bush and Congress for starting and funding the war estimated the city,s portion of paying for the war at $204 million. All politics is local, Magnuszewski said, quoting former U.S. Speaker of the House Thomas P. Tip O'Neill. The war is unraveling in money, international relations and human lives.
A City Garbage Picker is an expert on foreign policy? How did Obama miss appointing this highly qualified person to Secretary of State instead of Hillary?
ReplyDeleteIsn't this the same council that can't agree on how to solve blight in New Britain, but they have the time to devote to solving the Iraq War?
ReplyDeleteAlderman Sherwood stated on Tuesday evebing that he wants us to hire an "independent, internal city auditor! The last one we had was hired by Trueworthy and Bielinski. She ended up resigning in a huff and blamed it all on Lou Salvio. By digging out the truth Salvio found that this person bilked the city out of thousands of dollars in benefits to which she wasn't entitled. Did you forget that one, Alderman Sherwood??
ReplyDeleteAlso, are you saying Alderman Sherwood that you would create another department with more city employees receiving more union negotiated benefits at taxpayers expense? Typical liberal Democrat response to anything, throw money at a situation and raise taxes. We already have enough people leaving the state and NB because of exorbitant "Connectitaxes!!!"
The City already pays an independent auditor that has an impeccable reputation, one who audits the financial books for the majority of CT municipalities. And the city doesn't have to give them benefits!
Cheney: Obama a Scared Waffler Who’s Endangering Our Troops:
ReplyDeleteWhere's Catanzaro's blistering condemnation of this President for his historic incompetence?
Doesn't the world deserve to hear the opinion of a garbage picker on the progress of this war too?
Maybe if the dirty bakers dozen spent less time thinking of ways to trash President Bush, and more time focusing on the job they were originally elected to do, the city wouldn't face as many problems as it does.
ReplyDeleteObviously, no one can think for themselves, as almost every vote is 13-2.
I wonder who is the puppeteer pulling the strings for the 13 puppets?
Maybe Eva M. is trying to annex Afghanistan as part of New Britain?
ReplyDeleteThe unreported story is the loss of troop morale under Obama because of his apology tour et al.. Ever wonder why Obama declared returning troops as "possible domestic terrorists"? Remember that?
ReplyDeleteFrank, Did Obama send a limousine to pick up Catanzaro for the funraiser today, so he could get Catanzaro's updates on how to respond to world arrairs, or were Catanzaro's garbage picking duties to valuable for the city to spare him for world peace today
