A NEW NEWSPAPER FOR NEW BRITAIN AND ITS FREE!
It started its circulation on October 16th. and promises to cover the city's news and events.
THE HARDWARE CITY JOURNAL IS A WELCOME NEW ENTRANCE TO THE NEED OF LOCAL NEWS FOR NEW BRITAIN.
Its Editor and owner, Ms Robin Vinci, a lifelong native of this city and a former editor of a Farmington Valley weekly newspaper. She is also a former reporter of the New Britain Herald covering the Berlin area news and has over twenty years of experience as a journalist.
Hopefully, future issues will be made available on line for the neighboring town residents to be afforded the luxury of reading this new newspaper by gaining an insight of great our city.
Hopefully they will keep their reporting "FAIR AND BALANCED" and if they do, the paper should prove to be very successful!
ReplyDeleteThat is very good news! The Herald's reporting is biased politically. Their idea of news is the soft issues that you would read in a woman's magazine! It is a real turn off for people who want to know the truth and the whole story and not The Herald's viewpoint!
ReplyDeleteWill this new newspaper be available by subscription? If so, how do we subscribe?

ReplyDeleteFrank. The Herald now calls itself the New Britain Herald. When Craven's not around all we get is Bristol News. When Craven is around someone edits his copy and we get liberally biased articles. What's up with that?
Yes, the Hardware City Journal is a good new newspaper. Politically, she is not looking to stir the pot, just give her readers useful local news. In addition to being well written, it's also quite attractive.
ReplyDeleteAnd while I don't appreciate the Herald's liberal slant and generally poorly constructed stories, I do appreciate having a local daily and now this great new weekly. Many communities across this nation and around the globe wish they were like us in that regard.
I believe those two publications with the addition of online bloggers/publications like Frank Smith, the Bizy Bee, and Debaser will make us a better community. Local governments and community organization always seem to operate better and more efficiently under the light of journalistic scrutiny.

ReplyDeleteIt's too bad that The NB Herald has no place today to comment (on line) regarding the Page 16 article, "Q&A WUTH THE NEW BRITAIN MAYORAL CANDIDATES." The "ELECTION 2009" article shows quickly and decisively why O'Brien has no business being Mayor of anywhere, especially New Britain.
Stewart is a lifelong resident of NB, was educated in our schools has raised a family here and has a vast and solid record of numerous positive accomplishments in NB that have benefitted all of its citizens. Owns real property here and pays taxes.
The article shows clearly that O'Brien has done nothing for the poeple of New Britain, not in his years as an alderman nor his 7 years as a State Rep. One thing at which he is good; he makes empty promises - never kept- about issues over which he has no control and about which he has contributed nothing, not in the way of action or results!!! NOTHING! Only empty talk (BS).
O'Brien attended CCSU; did he graduate?; he owns no "real"property, does he pay taxes here?; look at his civic and service affiliations, all political and no service-types.
The only jobs O'Brien has ever held are political. What job is it that O'Brien can do? The article tells you he is trained to do nothing and he has proven that he does that well. He is Mayor material? Only if his campaign contributors from out of town can buy the election for him.
The Herald continues to show their liberal slant. O'Brien made some phony promises for plans to reduce property taxes, which the Herald ran as the headlines on Page one. When Mayor Stewart pointed out they were nothing but false promises, basically smoke and mirrors, the Herald did report the story, but they put the article inside and online it was only on the lower list of articles. Does that sound like "Fair and Balanced?"
ReplyDeleteJim Smith seems to be more interested in talking up and talking about Bristol. Don't blame Jim Craven if his articles seem slanted toward the liberals. Like most jounaists, he is a liberal. But, also like other journalists, Mike Schroeder and Jim Smith control the headlines and what Jim reports.
