Trueworthy & Catanzaro Theatrical Co.

One Final Act of Staged Theater!

At the Council meeting Wednesday night, Alderman Paul Catanzaro made a motion to reappoint William Candelori, Edward Sasso and Louis Amodio, Jr. to the Mattabassett District for new terms beginning on November 1, 2009. These appointments would take effect 2 days before this current Council faces the public in an election and would "stick" the newly elected council with these three Directors for the duration of the new Council member's terms in office.

Alderman Louis Salvio made a motion for these appointments be tabled until the next Council meeting, which would have allowed these appointments to be delayed until the new Council takes office. The majority Democrats voted this motion down, and then Alderman Trueworthy continued with the effort to make these appointments, but the City Attorney kept shooting down Trueworthy's attempts at politcal wrangling. The attorney offered the opinion that the appointments could not be made until after their current terms expired, but Trueworthy was relentless in his efforts--having even suggested at one point that the appointments could be made last night, but post dated to November 1st--but of course the City Attorney found legal problems with that strategy as well.

After being unsuccessful at his several attempts to ram through these appointments, Alderman Trueworthy finally made a motion to table these appointments until the next Council meeting. The motion to table the appointments passed, with only one Alderman voting against it--Alderman Paul Catanzaro.

People who read this blog must understand that the resolution introduced at last night's NB Council meeting WAS INTRODUCED BY THE TRUEWORTHY LED DEMOCRATS! Yet, the Democrats, especially Trueworthy, Catanzaro and Sherwood tried to turn the whole scenario around and said that somehow the plan had been hatched by the Stewart administration.

First, Salvio's motion to table was summarily voted down by the 12 Democrats in attendance. After Trueworthy's machinations failed, then, the illustrious Catanzaro gets up and claims that this whole debacle WAS A REPUBLICAN PLOY!
I rose to speak and resented Catanzaro's ridiculously inane assertion. Guess what happened next!

Sherwood gets up and defends Catanzaro by insinuationg that it was a ploy. WHY? because Sherwood says, Corporation Councsel Bizzarro came to the meeting unusually prepared to opine that the Resolution was not legal.
    Now, hows that for stupidity!

End result, Trueworthy now moves to table and the motion passes. Even Holloywood can't top that one!

  2. N0vember 3, 2009 can't come soon enough so we can rid ourselves of these democratics jerks.
The surrounding Towns must think that NB is funnier than a three stooges movie. Is it no wonder that people hesitate to say they live in NB.
If this group worked for a private company (of which none d0), the company would go broke.

    Hurry up 11/3/09

  3. Do people get the sense that these jerks will be voted out November 3rd? Please tell me that most people around town understand what's going on!! I'd hate to think what would happen if they gained more power!

  4. worried citizen, the best thing you can do to avoid that, is to talk about it with all your friends and neighbors to make sure they are as informed as possible about the games currently being played at city hall.

talk about it at the barber shop, the diner of coffee shop, or anywhere else people are willing to listen

  6. They were all in an all fired hurry to re-appoint a crook to look
after our money for three more years! And they were down right proud of it too last night!

They need to go.... or if not... I need to go....

  7. Even the goodbye to Garrantano was staged. Everybody that spoke kept going on and on about how smart he is with "technology" just to twist the knife into the mayor on the way out the door.

The one positive last night was the recognition of the CPOA. This city has the oldest CPOA, 85 years!
Ann Mikulak was honored and recognized for her dedication to the organization. Ann has been president for 18 years.

It should also be mentioned that Ann has given her political support
to our incumbent Mayor Timothy Stewart. Ann has been a very dedicated watch dog for the taxpayers of New Britain and all should follow her lead when voting on Tuesday.

Tim O'Brien has very kindly informed me that my property taxes have gone up a whopping $129.00 over the past 6 years under Mayor Stewart. Thank you Mr. O'Brien for
re-confirming why our house will be voting for Mayor Stewart on Tuesday. My cable bill has increased more than my property taxes.

“Because there are too many... democrats in this city who cannot see beyond the blinders....

The Democratic Party has been high jacked by radicals such as Pelosi, Reid and their minions. They have used a campaign well crafted by Rahm Emanual. The socialist wing of the party marketed themselves as middle of the road by playing to people’s fears after 9-11. They used a yet to be taken advantage of media (the internet) to paint President Bush as an extreme far right radical thus giving the illusion that they were middle of the road. Truth is President Bush was a steady hand when a stunned and shocked nation needed it most.

Hopefully people have begun to see through these folks and realize that the "NEW" democrats do not have the same values as them.

  10. Thanks to Mayor Stewart for recognizing Ann Mikulak for her hard work and diligence regarding the CPOA.
As long as I've been involved in CPOA (over 10 years) and at least as long as he's been Mayor, Mayor Stewart has attended most membership meetings, keeping members abreast on what his administration is working to accomplish. To my recollection, Tim O'Brien and his fellow local legislators, and John MacNamera have never attended meetings in the same 10+ years. So much for their concern about New Britain's Tax situation!!

  11. Ann Mikulak and her long time patriots deserve all the credit that they can get. Since they are mostly in their eighties, they are 'holding on" for younger people to dispell them. They are afraid that if they quit, the CPOA will die.

Their problem is that they keep putting Paul Carver in as nominating chairman. Paul works well when he or his family will benefit. Otherwise, forget it.
