THE BEEHIVE LIGHTS ISSUE RECONSIDERED!
Chairman Giantonio of the parks and Recreation in Support of reconsideration
After listening to nine speakers who addressed the council in support of replacement of the lights, the council voted to reconsider their vote, but a statement by President Pro Tempore Trueworthy blamed the press for erroneously reporting that the Beehive lights had been voted out at the last meeting, when in reality the council , he said, had voted for the Martha Hart baseball field improvements. It must be noted that Alderman Trueworthy did express, at the last council meeting, it was unfair for these LOCIP funds to go to one department of the city, The parks Department, without sharing them with the rest of the city departments--departments that didn't even bother to apply for the funds.
With all that being said, the council passed the reconsideration motion to approve the installation of new lights at Beehive.
What a bunch of fakes. I was there and all Trueworthy, Hermanowski, SHerwood and Centeno did was blame the newspaper reports because they were always going to vote or it anyway. Then why didn't they until the herald ran the story? A lot of people don't like the herald, but without it there wouldn't be any new lights at the beehive.

ReplyDeleteAll BS. The vote two weeks ago was to fix the lights at Beehive Field. PERIOD.
ReplyDeleteAld Shirley Black knew that. She sponsored the resolution and then didn't have the guts to stand up to her leaders.
Ald Sherwood and Trueworthy got their gang to vote AGAINST the lights and take the extra money and use it for non park use.
Then 50 people come out and they ALL cave.
What liars. What hypocrites.
I was for it before I was against it, now I am for it again!!

Even worse, when the four Democrats, Sherwood, Hermanowski, Trueworthy and Centeno gave their reasons for voting no, they were not positive but rather, chiding and almost blaming something or someone else.
Now, three weeks has been added to completion of the updates pushing the completion date to early June. We hope that Director DeMaio can entreat all involved to expedite the work.
