This is simply another example of the Democrat controlled Council using its super majority vote to thwart anything good that is put forward by the Stewart Administration. Just as the Trueworthy/Sherwood led Democrats have done with federal funds (CDBG Funds), they once again deny funding for projects that benefit the youth of New Britain. The upgrading of the lighting at Beehive Stadium would not have jeopardized any other program in New Britain.
If Parks Director William DeMaio is aggressive enough to ask for LOCIP funds and other departments are not denied why should Trueworthy care? Why? Because he has the votes!
In addition to lights there are other items at Beehive that need attention, e.g., collapsing bleachers.
There were 2 Dems who joined the 4 Republicans (Salvio, Bernacki, Marrocco, Pabon) in voting in favor of this project. Trueworthy, Sherwood and 5 other Dems (Hermanowski, Centeno, Cruz, Black, Platosz) voted against. The Dem who introduced the motion, moved to approve and then voted against it along with an alderman who benefitted from youth baseball in New Britain.
If anyone can make any sense out of this irresponsible act by the Trueworthy/Sherwood led Dems, let us all know!

  2. Is there a way to terminate the appointments of Sherwood and Trueworthy to continue to represent on the Common Council ?
I can't rationalize their thinking by turning down free money. That includes the other negative votes by the dumb followers. How many of them would do the same thing if it wasn't for stupid politics.
DeMaio should be appluded for his managerial efforts.
