Channel 8 apparently didn't get the entire story. According to Channel 30 news, a supervisor in the Parks Department made a decision that the ice was thick enough, and instructed 2 Parks Dept employees to clear the snow off the ice. According to Channel 30, the 2 employees drove the tractors onto the ice, and the tractors fell through the ice--one after the other, because it was too thin to support the weight of these tractors.
Channel 30 showed footage of the fire department pulling the big blue tractors out of the water.
I wonder what supervisor at the Parks Department made the decision it would be safe to drive these huge tractors onto the ice?
I never saw anything so stupid in my life. What a waste of money too. I thought residents were supposed to ice skate downtown on the new man made rink where they keep the fire department bus running so skaters can keep warm? Another waste of taxpayer dollars.
That equipment is probably good for nothing now just like the Park & Rec supervisor. Remember the instructions on drilling a hole in the ice to measure for safety before going on the ice?
There definitely needs to be an investigation into this matter, and whoever is responsible should be disciplined, or even fired!
What really irks me is that the supervisor was quoted as saying this isn't the first time, and probably won't be the last time these snow blowers fall through the ice, and he was shown on TV laughing about it, like it was a big joke.
It was really irritating to hear that someone in a city position of supervisory authority could take the damage to such expensive equipment as a joke, and then there is the risk that these city workers could have been injured or even killed in this accident.
....I hope they put Cantanzaro up for Mayor at the next election just to get the drunkard out of city hall...
By then the radicals in Washington will have so destroyed the country, that there will be no one left willing to admit he is a Democrat and certainly no one anywhere willing to vote for one (How do you like your new Republican Senator sitting in Ted Kennedy's seat?)!!!
The latest poll shows only 30% of Americans will even admit voting for Obama. He is such an embarrassment to the country, no one is willing to take responsibility for electing such a radical!
So how's that hopey changy thing working out for you Democrats????
What a bunch of cowards, talking about others without signing your names. You should be ashamed, but then again you guys have no conscience.
Now there's a real brain surgeon! He attacks everyone for not signing his name, and then he leaves an anonymous posting. Now there's a real coward. Too ashamed to admit he supports Mr Ethics himself--Catanzaro.

Even Little Mack of the lesser party seems to have gone into hiding since his good friend from Massachusetts was replaced by a Republican and now another member of the clan withdrew from the race when the polls showed his dismal chances of winning!
Maybe Little Mack is coming around to the correct way of thinking, after all, wasn't he recently celebrating the memory of one of the greatest Republicans--Martin Luther King Jr.????
Posting of nasty comments about the mayor on the weekend that he and his family are mourning the loss of Mayor Stewart's father is the typical sleazy politics of the local Democratic Party.
That speaks volumes about a party that doesn't even have the decency to leave the man and his family alone during their time of loss.
Can you guess which member of the local Democratic Party might behind something so sleazy and childish?
I can think of at least 2 party insiders that have a past history of mischief with a computer, didn't one even involve the Mayor. Can you think of at least one?
Sounds like the mayor needs to investigate exactly how this was allowed to happen. Your talking damage to expensive city property and the potential for city employees to have been injured or even killed by someone's apparent negligence.
Mayor Stewart needs to make sure steps are taken to prevent such an incident from ever recurring.
People who use this medium to spew their hatred for others all need to get a life. I really don't care what anonymous people think of me they are too cowardly to say it to my face. It is probably just another person who can't understand normal thinking and needs this to validate their existence through negativity. I'd be wasting time to talk with a person of your ilk as I've grown accustomed to people like you over the years. What a nasty society we live in.
That is what I respect the most about Mayor Tim Stewart--you never have to wonder where you stand with him, as he will tell you to your face! More people should be man enough to speak their minds.
Maybe they will send Catanzaro into the water to get them???

It must not have been Catanzaro--there's no restaurant for miles!

If Catanzaro went into the water, it would drain the pond.

Ever hear of testing the waters, Isn't there some way they could test the thikness before sending out the machines.

"SO, WHERE IS YOUR NAME, MR ANONYMOUS?"
I don't blame you for being ashamed to admit you support someone like Catanzaro!
ReplyDeleteI would hide my face on that one too!
How's that "hope and change" thing working out for you as Republicans prepare to sweep into Congress?

ReplyDeleteCall me a coward all you want, coming from a bunch of punks such as yourselves honors me.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I have noticed not one of you dared to leave your names either.
If I left my name all you would do is leave your verbal diarrhea without your name.
None of you would dare say a thing to my face and only say things behind my back...who is the real coward?
I, time and time again, told you all to your face what I thought about you and all you did was run behind closed doors...some tough guys you are.
could someone be trying to detract from the real issue: who authorized these tractors to be driven onto the ice in the first place?
ReplyDeleteIf Paul C. was on one of the snow machines, maybe that explains the ice not holding?
