The State of Connecticut has a structural, long term financial problem. Selling assets ONE TIME will only (a) prolong the pain of structural, long term financial problems and (b) LOSE a valuable LONG TERM asset.
No one is addressing the cost of government, the high cost of doing business here, the high cost of utilities, the high cost of property taxes, unfunded mandates, and unfunded employee contract "deals". The government can give but why, in tough economic times, can't government take away?
Mr. Bernacki raises valid issues. The only way to fix the state's problem is to slash the size of government. Elimination of services, reduction of staffing and selling of assets all need to be done to forever cut the bloat in our state government.
If only the Democrats in New Britain would realize that there is a faction of Democrats who are liberal and prefer to spend money that the state does not have. It comes down hard on business and they move out of state. They are not serving you, the Democrats or anyone else well, except themselves. Unfortunately, those liberal Democrats are the ones that you have elected and they have been in power for several years causing the problems in our state.
We need to throw them out at the next election and vote in people who will put our state on a steady course.
