Republican’s Nominate 30-Year-old Entrepreneur for 24th Assembly District

Republican Candidate for the 24 District Representative Seat Cris Carillo
Republicans recently nominated Cris Carillo as their candidate for the office of State Representative for the 24th district, which includes parts of both New Britain and Newington.

Carillo, 30, is a resident of New Britain and owner of KeystoneBankCard.com.

“I am honored and humbled to be the Republican nominee for the 24th District,” said Carillo. “I greatly appreciate the support I have received from both Newington and New Britain during this process and look forward to beginning a conversation with all the voters of the 24th. When people hear the common sense solutions I am offering to make our state more desirable for job-creating businesses and to lift our state out of this fiscal crisis, without tax increases, I believe they will want to join our campaign.”

Mayor Tim Stewart, who expressed his support for Carillo stated, “Cris’ election to the General Assembly in Hartford is extremely important to New Britain. Cris will work tirelessly to make Connecticut and New Britain more business friendly and to solve our current budget crisis. Cris is a principled fiscal-conservative that can be counted on to fight any efforts to increase taxes on our residents.”

Carillo also has the support of House Republican Leader Larry Cafero.

“Cris has the energy and ability to run a strong campaign. He understands the Common Sense Principles that our state needs to embrace as we face the state budget deficits that are in our future. As a small businessman, Cris has seen the devastating affects of the recession and will bring real-world experience to the Capitol,” said Cafero.

Carillo is a lifelong resident of Connecticut. His parents currently reside in Avon. He has been a property owner in New Britain for over four years.

Carillo worked for ESPN for several years. In 2008, he started KeystoneBankCard.com where he is self-employed. Carillo is currently a member of the New Britain Lions Club and has been a member of UNICO. He is an Eagle Scout. Carillo earned a Bachelors of Science in economics from the University of Connecticut in 2002, where he was the founder & president of the UConn Real Estate Society.

  1. Wouldn't that be something, to have a Congressman who actually knows what it is like to own a business and to have to meet a weekly payroll, instead of these elitists who have never even held a job in the private sector, always living off the government--you and me.

  2. Perfect, someone who will lock the door tight when the radicals from the extremist group Working Families Party come knocking!

  3. Now that the voters rejected a radical like O'Brien as mayor, they will hopefully be ready to throw him out of the statehouse too!

  4. Carilo seems like just the candidate we need to replace O'Brien...Republicans: Give him the strong support he needs.
