FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:
Mayor Stewart has his choice to veto all or a portion of the proposed Democratic budget that increases the city budget with their denying the Mayor’s proposal to reduce his proposed budget from a seven percent tax increase to an approximate increase of five percent. But the socialistic tactics of the Democratic side of the aisle insist on sending more money to the Board of Education.
Stewart has championed by keeping our taxes down in spite of the Democratic tax and spend policies, however, the Majority leader of the common council expressing in past printed comments that he favors giving the funding request to the board of education. Based on that commitment he apparently made up his mind before listening to all the public input and from the common council membership, which would raise questions about what type of representation we are getting from these Democratic elected officials who under oath promised to represent us all--and not just the unions.
Now this very same Majority leader is quoted in today’s Herald, after he and Alderman Trueworthy added $1.5 million for the school budget Monday night, has the nerve to say if the mayor vetoes the Democratic budget that they have the votes to override his veto. That is in effect forcing the tax burden onto fixed income seniors, unemployed residents, and already overtaxed property owners.
These Alderman are living up to what democrats are known for ---“tax and spend”.
You forgot to mention that the democrats budget lowers has a lower tax increase than the Mayors proposed budget...and it reduces spending by over $1 million dollars!!!
ReplyDeletePeople in my neigborhood are really upset about this. I tell them Kurtz is lying about the schools but they don't listen. They say it is the Mayors fault. What is wrong with people. If the mayor gives them the money maybe they will see he really is not anti school.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot to mention that the democrats budget lowers has a lower tax increase than the Mayors proposed budget...and it reduces spending by over $1 million dollars!!!
ReplyDeleteYOU MUST BE A SOCIALIST BECUASE YOU MAU HAVE APPROVED A LOWER COST IN YOUR PROPSED BUDGET THAN THE MAYOR'S ORIGINAL BURGET BUT YOU SPENT MORE THAT THE 5% THE SECOND PROPOSAL BY THE MAYOR.
SO DO NOT TRY TO PLAY MR. GOOD SHOES SINCE YOU SCREWED THE TAXPAYERS IN THEIR HAVING TO PAY MORE OUT OF POCKET.
YES FOR ARE A TAX AND SPEND SOCIALIST AND THE TAXPAYERS ARE NOT BUYING YOUR SPIN AT ALL.
The Democrats calim they save money against the mayor's proposed budget but neglected to point out that their spending exceeded the Mayor's 5% tax counter proposal which was lower then his original 7% proposal.
ReplyDeleteTry to spin this one around with your BS Mr. Alderman.....
socialists or even communists would be more appropriate than simply "tax and spend"
ReplyDeleteI'm sure these zealots have made their whacked out leader, little mack the lesser one very proud with their increased redistribution of our income!
ReplyDeleteApparently Sherwood didn't get everything he wanted, because he reportedly got so mad that he kicked the door, and then when he realized people were watching, tried to make it appear he walked into the door? At least that is what one reporter reported about the meeting.
ReplyDeleteMore theatrics?
ReplyDeleteSherwood kicked the door or an objecrt by the door that made the door resonate throughout council chambers just before the last caucus.
But he caught himself and acted as if he had just bumped into the thing.
Your editorial needs a good teacher. The run-on sentences and rambling writing wouldn't get a passing grade in freshman English.
ReplyDeleteOh. I forgot. That's what you and Stewie like. Let's kill public education. It saves a lot of money.

OBVIOUSLY A LIBERAL LOON DEMOCRAT, BECAUSE HE CAN'T DEBATE THE ISSUES BECAUSE HE KNOWS HIS LUNATIC OPINION WOULD LOSE IN ANY LEGITIMATE DEBATE, SO THE ONLY THING HE CAN DO IS LAUNCH PERSONAL ATTACKS. OBVIOUSLY FRANK ATTENDED A UNION RUN PUBLIC SCHOOL, SO I AM AMAZED HE CAN EVEN READ AT ALL!
If I had my way, the government run school system would be completely eliminated. Parents would be given a voucher to use at the private school of their choice. Since the private sector always outperforms anything the government can run, and certainly anything a union can accomplish, the students would get a better education and for about half the cost. The taxpayers would save millions, and everyone would prosper except the whacked out unions.
ReplyDeleteO'Reilly has the perfect name for these Dems. He calls people like them FAR LEFT KOOKS and sometimes just LOONS, depending on how loony and radical they get!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, whenever O'Reilly describes a far left kook, I get a mental image of little mack!
School to Provide Condoms for 11-Year-Olds
ReplyDeleteA New England school district has approved a measure that will provide free condoms to elementary school students and direct teachers not to comply with parental wishes to the contrary.
How much of this budget is going to pay for condoms, birth control pills and free abortions?

Seems like the same kind of lunatic that would vote for a piece of garbage like Tercyak.
The schools should not get a dime until they can produce a line item budget for all to see so we know where this money is going. And hats of to Alderman Carlozzi for voting NO instead of sticking with party lines, at least there is one Dem with some individuality that is looking out for the tax payers.

What the commenter above failed to mention is this; yes, in April, the Mayor had proposed a 2.55 mill rate increase while on June 14, the Dems proposal was a 2.31 mill rate increase, a .24 difference; the Dems did this by artificially inflating revenues from tax collections and property sales and cutting things like funds for the New Britain Public Library. If you did that with your home budget, you and your family would be out on the streets.
Since when does anything the dems do have to do with reality?
ReplyDeleteWhere's the Beef Mr. Sherwood?
