  2. " This is not the first time Sherwood has acted this way. Every time he senses he is on the wrong side of an argument, he schemes to get publicity from The Herald, sadly, the Herald gives it to him. Rich Marzi? Have you heard him sling threats, insults and accusations at Council meetings? He's been sued and Sherwood wants the taxpayers to pay his legal bills! Does anyone remember that?
Sherwood is incorrigible, the most arrogant, abusive (kicking a door when Carlozzi didn't follow instructions), abusing other Council members, nasty, scheming, egotistical union serving goon New Britain has ever experienced.
President Obama threaten's to "[kick someone's [behind]", a physical threat if I ever heard one. Not one police report.
At a meeting (called by Sherwood) with the Board of Ed. prior to the final budget vote, Sherwood "threatens" the taxpayers of New Britain saying, -I paraphrase- I will not vote for any budget that doesn't include millions of dollars more for education! A threat to raise taxes if he doesn't get his way.
A woman once said to Winston Churchill, "if you were my husband, I'd poison your drink" to which Churchill replied, "if you were my wife, I'd drink it."

In a way, I fault the Herald for allowing this "kid" to bully New Britain, in another way, I thank them for exposing Sherwood for the troublemaker he really is. "

  3. This child will stop at nothing to tarnish this city and its mayor! Why do the people of NB elect such juveniles to their city council? Let me get this right, the infamous majority leader and the mayor pro tempore threaten to let the mayors budget go into effect creating a $12million revenue shortfall and the mayor tells them the "they should be shot for abdicating their responsibilities as alderman" and babyface Phil cries foul? Grow a set of nuts you crybaby! I know the mayor and he doesn't even own a gun stupid! How childish this has become because of this city's election of idiots to the common council! It is an embarassment for this entire city and its people to have to constantly deal with this behavior from someone who is supposed to be the democratic majority leader. Next thing his child will be threatened at school for his daddy's actions against Walmart.

  4. The democrats work at drawing out the mayor. They pick and pick and pick until they can get him to say something inappropriate. It's a standing joke behind their closed doors and none of them including Sherwood is actually "scared". Mayor Stewart has actually developed a longer "wick" over the years. He remains quiet, let's the idiots go on and on at council meetings and says very little. At the end of the day he simply conducts business as it should be, decisive and in the best interest of all the citizens of New Britain. These are tough times and these times call for tough decisions. We are seeing it all over the state in small towns and larger cities. Why would New Britain be any different. Where are the democrats finding all of this money to spend, that's right in our checkbooks. Get out your pen and get ready to start writing.
You can't change stupid, but you can vote them out, starting with this liberal so called do gooder
    Tim O'Brien.

  6. Did you all notice - they changed Sherwood's picture from the one they were using this morning.

I guess he didn't like the one they used and since he is an owner of the newspaper, he was able to call in and have them change it. It must be nice.

  7. Disgusted in New Britain says: Sherwood has in excess of Seventy adverse comments in today's Herald.

I trust that the voter of his district are now beginning to realize that they have voted for an child like idiot.

  8. How much more childish BS are the voters of his district going to take from this immature agitator before they wake up and elect a representative that puts the needs of the city before a radical socialist agenda?

  9. Sound like anyone we all know?

    Which side of the fence?
If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A Democrat wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Republican doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Democrats demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A Democrat demands that the rest of us pay for his.

  10. Sherwood must not have approved of the original version of this story, so his editorial board must have changed it to suit their master.

The original story was without a photo and the title was: "Sherwood ALLEGES threat by Stewart"

Now it has been hyped up as if Sherwood's version is a statement of fact and a nice new color photo was added.

The bias demonstrated by this so-called "newspaper" couldn't be more obvious.

  12. How often does the Herald use a photo that was clearly taken in a professional photo studio?

Are they that broke that they no longer have a photographer and are asking subjects to supply their own photos?

Maybe if they actually started to report the news, they would turn the paper into a profitable enterprise instead a public relations arm of the Democratic Party.

  13. Frank,
Have you noticed that the version that you have posted here has been changed by the Herald from allegations to a version that cites what Sherwood says more like gospel?

  14. I have siad it before and i will say it again. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE to this rag. You have the power to make changes, one at a time. Spread the word. I stopped years ago. Read it online. Watch Fox News. Who needs The Herald?

  15. If you need a fair and balanced newspaper to replace the Herald because you like reading the newspaper in the morning, I would suggest USA Today. You can even subscribe to home delivery. I do, and I also would never spend my hard earned money buying a rag like the Herald.

  16. Why would a man, who supposedly was threatened, be walking around Belvedere with his wife and two young children? Phil Sherwood is creating media hype and front page accusations, and yet, there he is, out strolling around the neighborhood with his family in tow. I did not get the sense, from observing him walking about, that he was concerned about his safety or that of his family. As a matter of fact, it was a leisurely stroll with the wife and kids.

To make such an outrageous accusation is to really twist around words to suit one’s own objectives. I have been around New Britain politics for a long time, but this incendiary accusation is among the worst that I have ever observed by someone in politics. This is what one would refer to as dirty politics ….at its worst!

If Mr. Sherwood was that concerned about his well-being then why did he wait a week to report the incident? That one fact speaks volumes regarding any credibility to Sherwood’s character and to the credence of him being trustworthy. Was it because the New Britain Republican Town Committee issued an FOI to Sherwood regarding the $20,000 of taxpayers money that he had appropriated to be used to hire a Lawyer that may be used to sue the city? Why didn’t the Herald report that? One just needs to think about that question. I also find it rather interesting that Sherwood was at the New Britain Herald’s office giving quotes to the editorial board on his accusations. Sounds like another famous “Sherwood Press Release” aimed at getting attention from a paper that will report on anything he has to say.

Did Mr. Sherwood ever consider the fact that he was threatening the people who work for the CBIA when he and a group of protestors donned hoods and pitch forks and demonstrated at the CBIA headquarters? This organization – (CBIA), is comprised of thousands of small and large Connecticut corporations working to make Connecticut more business friendly. Obviously something that Mr. Sherwood knows nothing about! What is Sherwood really up to? I can only hope that the voters of New Britain will truly see Mr. Sherwood for the person he is- a scheming Politian who will say and do anything to get notoriety.

  17. The fact that Sherwood would protest outside CBIA speaks volumes about his lack of any common knowledge. Why would anyone protest an organization whose membership is made up of the very businesses that are creating jobs and employing people throughout Connecticut, not to mention paying the majority of the taxes to fund all those social programs he and his fellow liberals seem to love so much? Makes no more sense than forming radical protests outside Walmart's New Britain store until you manage to run them and their 150 New Britain jobs right out of town. Now the world's largest employer has announced plans to hire as many as 700,000 new employees in the US, and I would be shocked if they ever opened a store again in New Britain thanks to Sherwood and his fellow agitators.

  18. If they have any common sense at all, the 2 children will grow up to be Republicans!

  19. Walmart will never open another store in New Britain because the local politicians will be demanding union control over it's employee's wages and benefits.

It's true Walmart provides low income earners with daily work, usually part-time to avoid paying health benefits. The alternative is people will sit home receiving welfare benefits instead of getting up and actually contributing to society. They have to start somewhere, we all did. There is nothing preventing a hard worker from getting ahead and advancing themselves in this country until socialism has completely taken us all over.
