Letter To the Editor

The Truth Hurts.

State Senator Don DeFronzo recently took to these pages to “deplore the negative attack on Tim O’Brien.” It’s unfortunate that the Senator has decided that the same Democrat incumbents who have been failing New Britain shouldn’t have their record presented to the voters.

I have been closely following the election and have not seen one personal attack on Mr. O’Brien. Rather, I am glad that someone is finally showing me what my “representative” has been voting for in Hartford. His voting record is filled with raising taxes, expanding state spending, and then borrowing to pay for the spending. Each of the mailers cited specific legislation that Mr. O’Brien voted for. These are the facts of his record.

Upon reviewing the bills in the mailers, I noticed that Sen. DeFronzo also voted for these same failed laws that have made our state one of the least business friendly states in the country.

Even more shocking is that Mr. O’Brien voted to repeal the death penalty – which would make Stephen Hayes ineligible for the death penalty! Thankfully even Sen. DeFronzo knew this was wrong and voted against the repeal.

The election before us is one of the most important in our state in a generation. Unemployment is at 9% and our state budget is projected to be $3 billion short next year. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Sending Sen. DeFronzo and Mr. O’Brien back to Hartford will give us more of the same. If you are looking to change your state government – vote Henry Zembko for State Senate and Cris Carillo for State Representative on Nov. 2nd.

  1. One point Mr. Csrillo, the state unemployment rate is 9%, but unemployment in New Britain is over 15%, and instead of working as our state representative to help create jobs, Mr. O'Brien was organizing protests made up of radicals who were demanding that Wal-Mart promote Hispanic managers at its New Britain store.

Instead, Wal-Mart chose to close their store and took their 150 jobs with them. Now they are planning to spend $500 million expanding their business in the US, but thanks to O'Brien, Sherwood, Catanzaro, Blumenthal, and the rest of the radicals, they are not spending a dime here in New Britain.

Isn't it time we had representatives in Hartford that support our businesses, instead of driving them away?

  2. Alright "parent" O'Brien enough with the baby thing?

Its bad enough that "parent" O'Brien drags that baby all over town while he's knocking on doors, he actually took her to a funeral on Monday. Enough, if you were really such a good father you would stop using your daughter as a prop and have her at home at a decent hour, put her in bed and read her a bedtime story (and no the Communist Manifesto is not age appropriate material)

And now he's got a mailing out with an anonymous letter saying how great he is that he got someone Medicare and they just love the baby. First of all, Medicare is a federal program and what the heck has O'Brien got to do with it. Answer: He could not find a real person that he's helped to sign their name, so he made the letter up, creative writing.

Second all the people that endorsed him on the other side of this mailer are Democratic politicians - Carlozzi, Black, Horowitz and Sanchez. Once again, could not get any "real" people to speak on his behalf.

Lastly, shame on you for using your child like that. OK all politicians do the family photo thing, but you have gone way too far.

Voters - Vote O'Brien out of office so he can go home and this poor kid can have a life instead of being a piece of political propaganda machine.

  3. While it's wonderful that fathers of babies take an active part in taking care of their children, this does not include using the child as a political prop. We all love our children with all our hearts, and think our babies are the most beautiful ones in existence. But, what would it be like at the legislature if all reps with children brought the children to the sessions in Hartford?

  4. I have seen that a couple of times, and I haven't figured it out. It is like he is shoving his baby into everyone's face and saying "vote for me, I have a baby!"

Someone else on here suggested it was his way of proving he has cojones. I'm not sure if that is the reason, but whatever it is about, it sure is weird.

  5. The day of the primary it must have been almost 100 degrees and O'Brien had the baby out at the polls shoving the kid in everybody's face most of the day. I guess he doesn't understand it is the politician that is supposed to kiss other people's babies, and not the other way around.

  6. If Defronzo doesn't like the truth being spread, then maybe he shouldn't surround himself with such characters?

Defronzo has been awfully silent about the Tercyak arrest situation, the Gerratana computer deal, the Gerratana living in a Berlin pool house while he was on the New Britain City Council deal, the entire Rick Lopes fiasco, the unfounded Sherwood police complaint, the Catanzaro ethics violations, etc, etc, etc.

Whatever happened to being judged by the company you keep?

  7. Isn't Defronzo the same person who refused to serve his country when he was drafted, and if my memory serves me correctly, whenever he marched past veterans in a parade, the veterans would turn their backs to him?

And you are asking about a person like this surrounding himself with characters?

  8. If you ask me, Defronzo is more like the puppet master pulling the strings for all these crazies in his party.

  9. I've been a Democrat all my life but I haven't voted that way for almost 25 yrs., especially locally.

The crop of Democrats we've had in NB since DeFronzo came on the scene as Mayor is the worst, the most corrupt group of cretins ever.

Go ahead, look at our state legislators, the Democrats on our Common Council, Congresman Murphy, Senators Dodd and Lieberman.
Would you buy a udes car from any of them? NOT A PUBLIC SERVANT AMONG THEM, NOT ONE!

Do you suppose it's about time you switched to being a Republican? By remaining a registered Democrat, you are, in effect, endorsing their principles.
