NB Politicus: Mayor's Blame Game Makes Getting To Yes On Downtown Development Difficult

16 comments:

  1. This story assumes that the mayor is to blame when virtually everyone knows that it is the constant showboating and childish games of Sherwood and Trueworthy that are responsible for screwing up anything positive the mayor attempts to accomplish for the city.

It is as if these 2 have devoted their offices to derailing anything that would give the mayor any positive credit for accomplishment and they don't seem to care who else gets screwed in the process so long as they are able to discredit any accomplishments of the mayor.

  2. At the November NB Council meeting Alderman Phil Sherwood and Michael Trueworthy advocated for clarity on the details of the NB Police Building Project and asked Mayor Steward for a budget on said 32 Million Dollar Building.

Yet the two Aldermen reported that they have yet to see a complete budget on the police station while both Alderman agreed that the Police Station Bonds are of a great benefit to the city and taxpayers.

    Congrats Mr. Frank!

You finally found a site that seems to be even more left--leaning than the "Pravda" style herald, and I didn't think that was possible.

  4. This post from NB Politicus is filled with misinformation; first of all, no decisions on the design of the building have been made to the "exclusion of all other ideas." That is puely, B.S. A police building committee has been formed, it meets regularly. The committee has two Council Reps., one Republican (Pabon) and one Democrat (Centeno). Both representatives are "supposed" to attend the committee meetings and bring back information to their relative caucuses. Of course that means that the reps. must attend the meetings. Meetings are open to all Council members.

Any accusations - such as those from NB Politicus - that the process lacks transparency are vacuous. Two different Councils have worked on and approved all steps in the process. After more than three years of plaaning, the process is under way. Most of the people coming forward with objections now are plants from the major originator of the supposed opposition.

This is a design-build project. The Council has approved the construction company chosen and the construction management firm for the project.
If any of the naysayers has ever done a personal, design-build project they probably understand that it is difficult to predict an exact budget for a project. Yet, that's what the DTC Chair and some Council Dems say they have never seen. These folks make the same assertions and ask the same questions time after time, meeting after meeting.

The delays may make the cost of the project escalate and may result in the loss of construction jobs. This City and this State can afford neither.

The DTC Chair and the Democrat Council "leaders" should try cooperation for a change.

  5. This post from NB Politicus is filled with misinformation;

Misinformation is the central platform of the local Democratic Party.

How many of us have made "unfounded" complaints to the New Britain Police Dept?

What are you talking about? None of the first four posts said anything about unfounded complaints to the Police Dept. They are concerned with the antics of the DTC Chair and the two childish brats that "lead" the Council Dems.

  7. In my opinion, Sherwood is doing all this with blocking the purchase of new police cars and stopping the construction of the police station simply as pay back for the police defying his wishes, unless he simply hates the police in general, but either way, he and Trueworthy are clearly demonstrating a dislike for the police department.

  8. No matter how you look at it, Sherwood sure seems to hate the cops, doesn't he???

  9. Doesn't the NB Politcus have something to do with that former New Britain Herald reporter, his name fails me at the moment, he was arrested and homeless etc. and likes to blame Mayor Stewart for his lifes failures.

  10. I was always led to believe that the Politicus was supportive of the local socialist agenda--at least from the editorial content it would appear that way to a right thinking person. There are a number of other local sites that seem to share an admiration for the cradle to grave government ruling of our lives, but none so nasty as the site you are describing.

That radical reporter you are referring to that used to work for the NB Herald has his own site that appears dedicated to spewing hatred of the mayor. If you visit that former Herald reporter's site, you will find off the wall nasty comments reminiscent of the left's unhinged attacks against George W. Bush. You won't need to look very far to find stories loaded with 4 letter words. The level of hatred the left keeps showing towards the mayor assures me that he is doing an excellent job moving the city in the correct direction. I think you can actually measure the mayor's success by the level of nastiness spewed by local radicals--especially the extremists on the council.

  11. All I can say is that things are looking good for conservatives in 2012.

  12. Left wing kooks attack the mayor.

Now there's a new story for NB!

Where were the kooks to criticize Lucian when he was mismanaging the city to the point that he caused record increases in our property taxes. And didn't I read on here at some point that he didn't even pay the taxes he worked so hard to increase for everyone else?

That was all OK, wasn't it?

Frank, maybe you can add a new feature to your site? A nasty meter that measures the viciousness of the local Democrats. It could double as a "mayor's approval rating meter!

  14. Liberals and their complainingNovember 28, 2010 at 5:31 PM

Why is it that liberal networks seem to have nothing more than endless bitching and complaining. When did NBC, NY Times, or even our own Herald have something good to say about anyone? Then they wonder why no one wants to watch, or listen to their daily diatribes.

This Politicus blog you are featuring doesn't seem much different. I'll bet you have 10 times the readers they do, so why even give them the recognition?

...It is common knowledge that one of those childish brats made a complaint to the police that was later determined to be "unfouned." Where have you been hiding?

...I wouldn't be surprised if you have more readers than the Herald too!
