Alderman Paul Catanzarro opposed his employer's recommendations for the purchase of dump trucks during last Wednesday's council meeting.
Claiming that the DEP has established new regulations requiring a second tank for an additional fluid that mixes with the diesel fuel which would increase millage by at least 5%. Additionally, he also claimed that this mixture lessens the carbon exhaust.
His department head was at a loss for words for this revelation but the Alderman's persistence was successful in getting the matter tabled. His side kick, Alderman Sherwood, agreeing with Mr. DeMaio's comments 100% by stating he is not trying to micromanage with his negative vote.
As you may recall this Alderman was found by the New Britain Ethics Commission that he had violated the city's policies and ordered that he be sanctioned or removed from the council.
We all know what happened subsequently, with the Democratic side of the Council isle refusing to take any action, claiming the commission's action was merely political.
What did the voting public do at the last election? They reelected making him the high vote getter and rumors have it that he is planning to run for Mayor.

ReplyDeleteIf Alderman Paul Catanzarro is throwing his hat in to the ring for Mayor of New Britain he must make public his education background - his New Britain High School course of studies and New Britain High School Year Book and his college studies and grades?
New Britain residents may recall that Alderman Paul Catanazarro (D) was found by the New Britain Ethics Commission that he had violated the city's policies and ordered that he be sanctioned or removed from the common council as stated in the City Charter.

It appears that the State of Connecticut actually has something correct by barring all existing state employees from serving in the legislature.
ReplyDeleteSuch a prohibition protects the state against employees having power over their supervisors as witnessed here in this ridiculous exchange between the head of the Parks Dept and his subordinate on the council.
Lord have mercy on New Britain, what with the Dems on the Council!!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to All,and to all a good future!!
The item that was tabled had nothing to do with Director DeMaio but rather, Public Works Director Mark Moriarty.
ReplyDeleteCatanzaro made sure that Director DeMaio's (Catanzaro's boss) requests were approved
Catanzaro is not the only Council member with a conflict of interest when it comes to City business; Catanzaro works for the Parks Dept; Alderwoman Collins works for the Water Dept.; Alderwoman Black is a school Crossing Guard; Alderman Centeno works for the Board of Ed.; Alderman Sherwood's wife works for AFSCME (union); Alderman Trueworthy's wife works for the NB HRA.
ReplyDeleteAll have some financial conflict of interest concerns with the City. That's 50+% of the Council Democrats.
Conflicts Catanzaro strikes again!
ReplyDeleteWe desperately need to go back to the at large system and get rid of these dumbies who have no clue as to their responsibilities. Better yet, do not pay them. They will all
ReplyDeleteleave! Good riddance.

ReplyDeleteleave!
...As I recall the Republican Aldermen took voluntary pay cuts to help the city with the budget, while the Democrats demanded every dime that was coming to them, since we all know Democrats are only out for what they can get for themselves.
under the at large system, didn't we just have different Democratic dumbies?
ReplyDeletecould it be he gets all the votes of the owners of the many restaurants he frequents.
ReplyDeleteever wonder why no one ever shows a picture that includes more than just his face?

As for this comment, it depends on how far back you wish to go. Recently especially under Mayor Pawlak, you had folks like Art Helfgott, Barbara Yesierski, Suzanne Bielinski, Mark Bernacki, Aime Brochu and others, hardly "dumbies" of the sort you have on today's Democrat Council contingent.
Weren't Tim Stewart, Mark Biernacki and Lou Salvio all Demcorats at one time, until they didn't like the socialist direction the local party was headed in under the direction of their head socialist, little mack, the, lesser one?
ReplyDeleteThis speaks volumes about the local party that their poster boy has a record of one ethics violation after another. I guess you can call the local Democratic Party the party of unethical behavior, while the local Republicans are the party of ethics. I'm sure Macnamara must be proud of his unethical minions.
ReplyDeleteDemocrats:
ReplyDeleteethics violations,
living outside the city they are elected to represent while still in office,
abusing state computers to post slanderous statements against political rivals,
arrested in radical protests termed "civil disorders"
participating in radical protests that drive at least one large employer out of the city,
and the list goes on!
THE QUESTION? If the Reelected Alderman Paul Catanzarro becomes a candidate for the seat of Mayor of New Britain in 2011...he might need a resume like Tim Stewart...
ReplyDeleteMayor Tim Stewart has lived in New Britain all his life. He is a graduate from New Britain High School in 1979 and began working his way through the University of Hartford on an academic scholarship while working as an electronics technician in the nuclear power industry at Electro Mechanics in New Britain.
Tim eventually earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Hartford in 2003. Along the way, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Badolato and had two children, Erin and Kevin.
Tim graduated with honors and is a member of the electrical engineering honors society at the University of Hartford. While working at Electro Mechanics, Stewart took the New Britain firefighters exam. In 1985 he was hired at the age of 23 to work for the New Britain Fire Department. He served 19 years as a member of the fire department and as an fire inspector. #30
Is it true that Stewart was a Democrat until the socialist likes of McNamara seized control of the party?
