I’ve been reading the blog on Alderman Sanchez and find it interesting. That this kid is 22 and been appointed as an alderman says a lot more about him then what you guys are presenting on this blog. I know he went to Sacred Heart and now Tunix but why hasn’t he finish? I am surprised that that question is even being asked given the economy. Manny is a prep school graduate, Watkinson, and an honor student. He was accepted to Wesleyan and Trinity colleges on partial scholarship but still proved to expensive for him to be able to handle at the time. (If you are not aware these two schools are amongst the top ten small colleges in the country. I wonder how many writing on this blog were accepted to Ivy or small ivy schools or went to college at all?) He has gotten a year and a half of school under his belt which he has paid for unaided. Commendable is it not?. It must not be lost to you that college loans have to be supported by collateral because of the default rates by the middle class, mostly white, so are virtually unavailable to a young kid having to pay his own way.
When I went to school it was so small we sat in a circle around the teacher from the smartest to the dumbest and I sat next to the head of my class---and from what I am reading you guys blogging here did too. How could you pen this nonsense knowing nothing about Mr Sanchez and having done no research. Discounting the racists on this blog, (yes we still have people in this country whose minds have not evolutionarily surpassed an ape) those with some apparent education are not being fair and are making rash generalizations within the framework of liberal and conservative politics which are far too myopic to be of any use in the judgment of character.
Just consider this. The blogs pointing out that this alderman seat was reserved for someone of the Spanish population is probably correct. It is politics after all. I can remember when Obama was running and 95% of all blacks voted for him and the white voters indignation of that. I also can remember when John F Kennedy ran and 95% of the catholic and 100% of the Irish voted for him but this was interestingly overlooked in white criticism of blacks in this last election. For whatever reason when politics cross racial divides they take on a more harsh nasty tone usually flamed by those lesser minds who usually have bigger mouths. Should we not silence the racists and drop the hypocrisy it is unbecoming an intelligent people.
The questions about experience are engaging. How do you get experience without experience? The answer is you don’t. Every person makes mistakes and learns from those mistakes grows and gets better. There is a peculiar thing about politics that both the liberals and conservatives like to eat their young. There are no paternalistic or maternal instincts just savagery. Why does no one get involved in the political process? This is a common complaint heard on town committees. The answer is because when you put yourself forward you get mauled, just like Mr Sanchez is getting mauled in this blog. He hasn’t even had the time to sit in his chair and make one decision and the “mouth before brain” types start.
G.W.Bush had experience remember. His people appoint a 26 year old attorney to handle the district attorneys and she uses her power to politicize an institution that is the foundation of our democracy. A justice system can not be political or we become Russia. What about the incompetence of the weapons of mass destruction. I’m sure many of you still believe the Arabs have hidden the plutonium under the robes and burqas they wear. Guess that is why Arab women do that ahhahhhahhh thing they do –they have radiation poisoning. Mr Sanchez could have done a better job then these people.
I will do one other thing that cowards on this blog don’t do—sign it. Novel idea taking credit for ones own opinion.
Jack Carey—not resident of New Britian----friend of Mr Sanchez
Mr. Carey -
ReplyDeleteYour ignorance is frightening. I won't even attempt to argue with you point by point - there is too much there -such as 100% of the Irish voted for JFK - ridiculous.
I'm glad you don't live in New Britain. We have enough lemmings and kool aid drinkers as it is.
As for your friend Mr. Sanchez, you are judged by the company you keep. And you sir have unwittingly done your friend a disservice by associating your moronic views with this man.
And no I won't put my name down as that is always a thinly veiled attempt by McNamara the lesser and others to flush people out so they can be flogged for their opinions.
It appears that Mr. Carey had a ghost writer. Guess who??----
ReplyDeleteMcNamara????
With so many misspelled words and punctuation errors, don't criticize others for not yet completing their education.
ReplyDeleteWow! Mr.Carey why is it that you feel the need to defend this young puppy so vehemently? Is it because he has no experience in life that would qualify him to serve this city at that level? Or perhaps it is because he is just another wannabe democrat that thinks he can make a living on politics in NB?
ReplyDeleteA persons backgraound is certainly relevant to his appointment to the city council as their involvement within the community ususally dictates the type of person or politico that they will be. Where are his community involvements? Did he graduate from college or better yet is he a lifelong resident of NB? These are the questions Mr.Sanchez should have answered instead of saying thank you to his party when seated that night.
Just a thought.
I am an Irish Catholic. I was not old enough to vote in the Kennedy election, but would have never voted for the son of a criminal bootlegger because I do not ever vote for socialists.
ReplyDeleteAs a member of the Common Council who cast a vote for the replacement of Sylvia Cruz on the Council I can honestly say that Mr. Carey is all wet.
ReplyDeleteThere were ten Democrats on the Council that voted for Mr. Sanchez. Had the four Republicans voted against him he still would have been seated.
The only information about Mr. Sanchez given to the Council that night was, " ... he lives on Washington St. and is a good worker at election time."
Mr. Sanchez' selection to replace Sylvia Cruz was pro forma. No other name was submitted for consideration. Had there been another choice, so what? The choice had been prearranged. Republicans offered no other Democratic name - I hope you understand why. This whole situation was orchestrated as a "last minute" addition to the Council meeting agenda.
Mr. Carey, none of the nonsensical persiflage you spewed in your rant makes any sense and had nothing to do with the selection of Mr. Sanchez. Also, it was/is untimely.
I guess the New Britain radical socialists took the bible serious when it said "a little child shall lead them" (Isaiah 11:1-10), oh that's right, socialists are Godless.
ReplyDeleteLOU SALVIO SAID: This whole situation was orchestrated as a "last minute" addition to the Council meeting agenda........
ReplyDeleteSOUNDS LIKE AN ILLEGAL APPOINTMENT. FOI LAWS REQUIRE THERE TO BE A 48 HOUR PUBLISHING OF THE MINUTES. TO SNEAK IN A LAST MINUTE ITEM THAT THE PUBLIC IS NOT INFORMED OF APPEARS TO VIOLATE THE LAW. DOES THAT MEAN IF SOMEONE FILES A COMPLAINT, THIS APPOINTMENT TO THE COUNCIL WOULD BE VOIDED?
To: The Rule of Law said...
ReplyDeleteThere was nothing "illegal" about Mr. Sanchez' appointment.
Council meeting Agendas are received by members more than 48 hrs. in advance of the meeting.
While it is frustrating to some of the members - include me -, very often, agenda items are submitted, sometimes, minutes before the
meeting begins. I guess if you allow this to happen
for unavoidable and necessary additions, you must put up with those additions that are merely political "tricks."
My comments in my previous blog were not intended as a slight to Mr. Sanchez but rather to the pandering from Mr. Carey.
Mr. Salvio,
ReplyDeleteIf you can submit an agenda item just minutes before the meeting begins, then how can the council satisfy the 48 hour public notice???
The entire purpose of the notice requirement is to prevent the council from secretly ramming through items without the public being informed.
So much for transparency, and by the way, where was the Czar of FOI to make sure these secret measures weren't rammed through, or is he only the Czar of Republican ethics?
Jack Carey—not resident of New Britian----friend of Mr Sanchez
ReplyDeleteDon't your mean Master Sanchez?
To: Just wondering
ReplyDeleteAt the beginning of each meeting thr Council must approve the different parts of the agenda, including add ons. While Council members may vote no, especially for add ons, they seldom do and then voice their objections when the item comes up for discussion.
The worst part of add ons in my estimation is that they are rude to the people that attend the meeting. People are frustrated because those that come to speak at public participation on an item are not aware of add ons.
I agree that this is not the best way to do business.
Am I reading this correctly, a kid who never finished college and never held a meaningful job is secretly appointed to the council without any apparent qualifications other than he lives on Washington Street?
ReplyDeleteJust like Obama is the least experienced person ever to be elected president, I'd guess this is the least experienced person ever to hold the office of Alderman, but at least Obama was elected.
Lou Salvio said:

Isn't this the real problem Mr. Salvio?
Jack Carey—not resident of New Britian----friend of Mr Sanchez---Mr. Carey, does that mean you and the little boy play in the same sand box?
ReplyDeleteAs presidents go, JFK wasn't so bad even though he was a Democrat. He used the same tax cuts that Ronald Reagan and George Bush did to save the economy. JFK knew that the only way to turn the country around was through massive reductions in taxes and cutting the size of government, similar to what George Bush did.
ReplyDeletePrior to this current administration, it was probably a tie between FDR and Jimmy Carter for who was the worst president ever. Now that we have experienced 2 years of Obama, there is no question who the nation's worst president is, and probably will always be for the history of this nation.
Emmanuel Sanchez, a member of the Democratic Town Committee from Voting District 7, has filled the vacancy on the NB Common Council caused by the resignation of Alderwoman Silvia Cruz who stepped down for health reasons. The Ward 3 Democratic Town Committee unanimously endorsed Sanchez to fill the vacant seat. Ward 3 is also represented on the NB Council by Alderwoman Shirley Black.
ReplyDeleteAlderman Sanchez, 22, is a graduate of the Watkinson School and attended Sacred University. He is continuing his undergraduate studies at Tunxis Community College. Sanchez has been active in politics of New Britain since his senior year of high school.
Mr Carey is just teaching young Mr. Sanchez the first two rules of being a modern Democrat
ReplyDeleteRule # 1 Blame Bush
Rule # 2 Cry Racism when you have nothing to stand on
Just a piece of history: Then Town Chairman Paul Carver did file an FOI complaint against Mike Trueworthy over the issue of adding appointments to the agenda at the last minute. I think it was over Mattabassett appointments.
ReplyDeleteFOI ruled that as long as they had a 2/3 vote to add to the agenda, it was legal. Is it fair to the citizens? No, but that just proves what a joke FOI is.
So Mr. Salvio and company - I say vote no when they try to add things to the agenda. They do have the votes, but at least make a stand for the little guy.
At least Mr. Carey is smart enough to not live in New Britain.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet he lives in a good town run by Republicans.
(Yes it is true we have a Republican mayor, but his every effort is hampered by socialist Democrats on the council).
long time City Hall watcher ? Do you know what FOI is ? My guess is no. So here it is, Freedom Of Information (act)
ReplyDeleteHow can you have freedom of information if the democrooks ram through secret items that were not on the public agenda? Where is the openness in being able to pass secret appointments?
ReplyDeleteCommunist Russia would be proud of these Democrats.
What ever happened to Sherwood's zeal to publish every picayune little announcement in the herald?
ReplyDeleteThe city pays a fortune to the herald (thanks to Sherwood) to publish the purchase of a lawnmower, but appointing an alderman is a deep dark secret until after it happens?
Maybe if the public were made aware, someone qualified might have come forward with interest in serving instead of a little boy.
Wesleyan and Trinity do not give scholarships. They do have financial aid like other institutions. It helps to have a name like Sanchez. There is no way that he got into those shools. I have been there and paid handsomely for that education.
ReplyDeleteDon't give misinformation to make your case. Integrity is lacking in your comment.
Its extremely sad to see how people speak so negatively about a young man who has abilities to become a great leader(republican or democrat) in his community. To the individual’s who decided to use racism and bigotry to take a sh** on Alderman Sanchez or any person(s)for that matter should make themselves known. It is the way of the coward to hide behind their words and not take ownership. I’m sure many of you are the type (with the exception of Alderman Salvio has made his perspective clear about Sanchez) who will smile in the face of someone that you don’t agree with and when they turn their backs you stab them instead of voicing your TRUE thoughts and opinions about them. To the anonymous individual who said that there is no way Mr. Sanchez got into Wesleyan or Trinity. Hmmm...One can only wonder...could it be that he got into several good schools and may have fell on economic hardship trying to pay for his own education because his parents weren’t helping? (After all, he is just 22 and FAFSA requires parent income information from 18-24. I'm sure you all know what they make too) Wait! I’ve got it! Its because he received a great private school education and graduated with honors from Watkinson School!? Or maybe it’s because many of you know him so well? I’m almost positive that you saying that you were accepted and attended both Trinity and Wesleyan solidifies that you actually went there. That's amazing that you were able to "pay handsomely" for not one but two great schools. Boy! If we all had money like you. I wonder if those great institutions taught you to also place judgments on someone you don’t know and gave you the courage to not take ownership for what you feel. But again, I’m sure that you attended both schools; and because you said you did can only make it true right? I wonder why you basically said Mr. Sanchez doesn’t have the ability to get into such great schools?…hmmm… But I’m so glad that all of you know so much about him thank you for all the insights. Unfortunately it is the way of the world to live amongst people who just can't get along and pull their 'superior cards' out when in doubt.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous said...I’m sure many of you are the type (with the exception of Alderman Salvio has made his perspective clear about Sanchez) who will smile in the face of someone that you don’t agree with and when they turn their backs you stab them instead of voicing your TRUE thoughts and opinions about them....
ReplyDeleteYou are completely wrong! I would never smile to any of these commie's faces. I would tell any Democrat that I despise communists and I would gladly tell them to their faces. It is Democrats who are intentionally destroying this country and trying to convert it to a communist dictatorship.
What a hypocrite!
ReplyDeleteThis crack pot takes up all that space chastising everyone for criticizing the little child the radicals appointed to the council without signing their names to their criticisms of the little boy, then he doesn't have the cojones to sign his name to his own radical diatribe.
Only a Democrat could be so moronic!
Mr. Carey should get off of his rant about Manny Sanchez. Now he puts the ridiculous letter he wrote - to the blogs - in The Herald as a letter to the editor.
ReplyDeleteMr. Carey, except for people taking joking shots at Mr. Sanchez' youthfulness, what else has been said? Please let Mr. Sanchez fight his own battles - at this point I see nothing huge looming.
I guess Mr. Carey believes that Master Sanchez is too young to fight his own battles. At least that is what he is demonstrating by fighting them for the youngster.
ReplyDeleteDoes Carey sit next to Sanchez at the council meeting so he can speak for the lad there too?
ReplyDeleteThis Carey guy seems to be showing us that he apparently doesn't trust this youngster to speak for himself while at the same time he is trying to sell us on the idea that a little child shall lead us.

....or is he just another good for nothing Democrat looking to live his entire life off the teat of the taxpayers???
If Sanchez is as brilliant as Mr. Carey suggests, why does Carey need to speak for him, does Sanchez not speak any English?
ReplyDeletewhatsa matta mr. carey, cat got your tongue?
