Sherwood Promises More To Come?

Sherwood shows on his web site a photo of himself partaking in a radical protest in front of Walmart that led to Walmart leaving New Britain.

The high and mighty Sherwood then proclaims "more to come"

Does that mean that Sherwood, if elected state representative, is promising to drive even more employers out of the city?

Isn't that the central message of the Democratic party:

Punish those evil rich employers?

Nancy Pelosi, their party spokesperson, recently said that the country would be better off if everyone in the country was on unemployment and food stamps.

Maybe Sherwood is simply following the lead of his soon to be former Speaker of the House who now thankfully represents the minority party in America.

U.S. Supreme Court Case and Tim O'Brien (politician)

The Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. in the spring of 2011 has agreed to hear McCornish v. Bennett. the state of Arizona free speech case challenging the constitutionality of giving taxpayer money to political candidates.

As Vice-Chair of the state of CT Government Administration and Elections Committee, Rep.Tim O'Brien (and Senator Don DeFronzo) worked actively for approval of Connecticut's sweeping 2005 campaign finance reform legislation based on the state of Arizona's legal language.

The Arizona and Connecticut campaign finance reform law provides for public financing of candidates for statewide and state legislative offices who agree not to accept large amounts of private campaign contributions and agree to limit their overall campaign expenditures.

The CT Yankee Institute for Public Policy, plus Goldwater Institute have joined Arizona Supreme Court case on an amicus basis challenging the constitutionality of giving taxpayer money to political candidates.

So, Yankee Institute will get their hour in court in Washington next spring in 2011.

Will the motion to provide tricycle parking at city hall for Junior Achievement's member on the council be a hidden secret agenda item similar to the juvenile's appointment?

Anonymous said...

I'm confused, is this a picture of the kid who rides his tricycle to the meetings, or the alderman who resigned because of his personal problems? From the picture, he doesn't look old enough to shave.

Sherwood's major accomplishment as Alderman:

In 2010, Walmart did $410 billion in sales. They posted a 2010 profit of $24 billion from their 8416 stores.

Thanks to the radicals who joined this alderman in forming protests at their store, not one of these 8416 stores is located in New Britain anymore.

As you may recall, the company's response to their elected officials picketing in front of their store was to pick up and leave this city led by radicals and fanatics.

Thank you Mr. Alderman.

NB Town Committee Chairman Dwight Blint is correct - about Connecticut's sweeping 2005 campaign finance reform legislation in that the State of Connecticut has no 'compelling interest' in level playing field for candidates in determining election winners and losers. The CT Yankee Institute for Public Policy, plus Goldwater Institute are moving on Arizona case - on an amicus basis - as a friend of the court - the U.S. Supreme Court Case - challenging the constitutionality of giving taxpayer money to political candidates.

Sherwood is still "bush league" as far as the rules for radicals is concerned.

At least Representative Tercyak of Hartford got himself arrested in his radical protest!

The Arizona State Senator McComish lawsuit and the Goldwater Institute - the Arizona think-tank that's handling the legal challenge of Arizona's Clean Election Act - heading to U.S. Supreme Court - say it violates the First Amendment rights of privately funded candidates by "having government" put its thumb on the scale for their opponents in an election.

We're ecstatic that we have a chance to put an end to the worst feature of taxpayer subsidies for politicians, said Clint Bolick, the Goldwater Institute's Litigation Director. Oral arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court are expected to commence in March with a ruling available by summer 2011.

Run to your windows and check out the singing and dancing in the streets in celebration that Sherwood is no longer an Alderman!

FCTO - The Federation of Connecticut Taxpayer Organizations - Contact Susan Kniep, President

Connecticut property owners pay one of the highest property taxes in the country, second to New Jersey. Many in our state are struggling now to pay their property taxes. An added property tax will drive many Connecticut residents from their homes through Tax Lien sales.

Yet, all Connecticut taxpayers are victims of the inability of our State elected officials to control spending while giving into union demands where many pensions exceed $100,000, $150,000 and more.

The State Bond Commission just approved another $20 million in bonding. The latest Fiscal Accountability Report highlights CONNECTICUT DEBT - 72 BILLION DOLLARS.

BREAKDOWN OF CONNECTICUT’S $72 BILLION DOLLAR DEBT....
1) Debt Outstanding $19.3
2a) State Employee Pensions – Unfunded $11.8
2b) Teachers’ Pensions – Unfunded $9.1
3a) State Post Retirement Health and Life – Unfunded $26.6
3b) Teachers’ Post Retirement Health and Life $2.9
4) Generally Accepted Accounting Principles Deficit $2.3
Total $72 BILLION
The Question is - Is CT Going Broke $$$$$$$$$-?

Susan Kniep is correct about this state going broke in the hands of Democrats. Now that the socialist mayor of East Hartford is leaving to become Motor Vehicle Commissioner, maybe it is time Ms. Kniep was returned to the mayor's office of that town to return some sense to that city's government?

WILL THE MAYOR BE SENDING PUBLIC WORKS AROUND TO CLEAN UP ALL THE PARTY FAVORS FROM THE STREETS? MY STREET IS COVERED WITH THE REMAINS OF THE TICKER TAPE STYLE PARADE CELEBRATING SHERWOOD'S DEPARTURE.

Happy days are here again for New Britain!

Sherwood is no longer on the council!

I guess there is a God after all.

Phil Sherwood, Timothy O'Brien, Donald DeFronzo, Blumenthal et al should all be ashamed of themselves. Because of them, WalMart has left New Britain, leaving a big vacant building that at one time offered merchandise at very affordable prices to residents of lower and middle incomes, not to mention offering jobs to some with little marketable skills. I for one miss WalMart's presence in New Britain. This is a major reason why I would never vote for any of them for any political office. Get a grip!!

Didn't Sherwood say he was protesting because he wanted Walmart to make more Puerto Ricans managers? I guess he could care less about the Polish, Italian, Ukrainian etc, etc residents of New Britain so long as the Puerto Ricans got their managers.

Who is managing that store now, Phil?

WHERE'S THE BEEF? said...

Did Sherwood return to his New Hampshire village in search of the beef?

Besides employing New Britain residents jobs, and offering merchandise very affordable prices, New
Britain lost taxes that WalMart was paying for doing business in town. Who will take their place?

JUST ANOTHER EMPTY BUILDING AS A DIRECT RESULT OF DEMOCRATS:

SHERWOOD, CATANZARO, O'BRIEN, BLUMENTHAL ETC.

Just another example of how these radicals will stop at nothing to destroy businesses owned by those evil rich people who deserve to be punished for having more wealth than someone who lives off the taxpayers their entire life collecting welfare.

Isn't it funny that the so-called star of the Democratic Party in New Britain doesn't seem to have one person who is disappointed to see him leave the council???

Sherwood should be considered a hero among his peers.

I was told that this is the first time that Walmart has ever closed a store in the US.

As Newt Gingrich recently said:

Republicans are the party of paychecks and Democrats are the party of unemployment checks.

Which do you want?

Anonymous said...

Let's be fair to Mr. Sherwood. I believe that he really does care very much. Unfortunately, he cares only about himself and his political future. It is sad that he chose to move to New Britain to grow his political career and to undermine progress in our community.
It would be better for everyone if he moved somewhere else to enhance his ego and his pocketbook at taxpayers' expense.

Anonymous said...

Apparently Sherwood agrees with his FORMER speaker of the house that we would all be better off if the entire country were on unemployment and food stamps, otherwise, why would he have worked so hard to run a major employer out of the city?

Anonymous said...

Don't forget Sherwood's infamous "WHERE'S THE BEEF" insult directed at a developer who was planning to invest $5 million of his own money into Pinnacle Heights.

After the rude, insulting treatment this investor received by the so-called "majority leader" of the city council, he picked up his $5 million and moved on.

Do you blame him after the childish treatment he was subjected to by Sherwood?

maybe Sherwood could use that as his campaign slogan for state rep, that he has a record of discouraging businesses from locating in New Britain?

Word is Sherwood has been boxed out by Robert Sanchez for the 25th District House seat. Acted a little too quickly huh Phil? Now lets see if he crawls back to Trueworthy and company for his council seat back.
Good riddance Phil!

PHIL SHOULD BE OVERJOYED BECAUSE HE HAS PREVIOUSLY BEEN REPORTED TO SAY THAT CERTAIN SEATS ON THE COUNCIL RIGHTFULLY BELONG TO PUERTO RICANS, SO WHY SHOULDN'T THIS HOUSE SEAT TOO, RIGHT PHIL?

Unless this commenter is talking about young , new alderman, Emanuel Sanchez he is wrong. Robert Sanchez cannot run for elective office unless he resigns his position from the Head Statr Program at HRA.
