Gerratana For Senate: How Can The Public Trust Her?
FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:
Gerratana For Senate: How Can The Public Trust Her?
To read the bio published by the local Democrats, one would have a picture of Ms. Gerratana being a champion of ethics, but let’s take a closer look:
Public records indicate that Ms. Gerratana served as a member of the State Elections Enforcement Commission from January 2007 until June 30, 2010. This is a commission that by its own description was created in the wake of the Watergate scandal to ensure the integrity of the state’s electoral process with the specific authority to investigate possible violations of election laws. Didn’t Commissioner Gerratana even swear an oath to uphold and to enforce the election laws of Connecticut?
In April 2009, it became public that Ms. Gerratana’s son Greg was serving as a New Britain Alderman while living in the Berlin pool house owned by her husband, and at the time the younger Gerratana was using the New Britain mailing address of Dr. & Mrs. Gerratana’s main house as his official address while he was living in the Berlin pool house. To believe that then Commissioner Gerratana was not complicit in this egregious conduct by her son, one would have to believe that Commissioner Gerratana did not know that her son was a New Britain Alderman at the time, or that she was completely ignorant to the fact that the pool house was actually located in the Town of Berlin—you decide. In either case, soon after this information became public, while declaring that he had done nothing wrong, the younger Gerratana suddenly moved to another address in New Britain, but what, if anything, did the State Elections Enforcement Commissioner residing in this household do about this apparent violation?
Fast forward to the fall 2009 election cycle. A series of vicious and slanderous attacks were posted against Mayor Tim Stewart on local blogs. After a New Britain Herald Investigative report, these attacks were determined to have originated from state computers in the Legislative Office Building. The investigation led to Greg Gerratana admitting responsibility to abusing state computers to launch these attacks. At the time, the younger Gerratana was working at the LOB as an aide to Representative Tim O’Brien, who was at the time challenging Mayor Tim Stewart in the November election. Greg Gerratana was also still serving as an Alderman while himself running for New Britain Tax Collector.
As a result of this scandal, Greg Gerratana was suspended from his job at the LOB, and withdrew from his campaign for Tax Collector. While all this scandalous activity was occurring during the election process, why was the Elections Enforcement Commission nowhere to be found? Could it have anything to do with the fact that the “Admitted Serial Poster” as he became known in local blogs, had a mother on the commission?
Now it is this former State Elections Enforcement Commissioner who apparently stood by and did nothing while all this was occurring in and around her own household during the last election who is challenging Mayor Stewart on his bid for State Senate.
In any event, hasn’t the public had enough of Gerratana style politics?
You always tell it like it is. I wrote a similar letter to the editor, but of course The Herald refuses to print it.

Frank is correct on all points and what is the greatest irony, voters in this city pay no attention at all.
ReplyDeleteFrank, there they go again. The truth emerges about one of their radical comrades, so the Democrats have nothing to offer but name calling against the person with the integrity to expose their comrade for what she really is.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
NEW BRITAIN: Why The Absence of The Working Families Candidates In The NB Electoral Process ?
ReplyDeleteYes, the New Britain Democrats have made their pick of a candidate for the General Assembly seat that has been vacated by state Rep. John Geragosian.
The winner of Geragosian seat is candidate Robert "Bobby" Sanchez, who has worked the past 30 years for the local Head Start program and Human Resources Agency. Sanchez announced on Monday, 1/17/11 that he would run for the 25th District State Representative seat .
On Friday, 1/21/11 the Republican Town Committee said it would not field a challenger against Mr. Sanchez, and that seat also went uncontested in the November election of Democrat John Geragosian.
One finds it hard to believe that, no where in the 25th District, there’s a living Republican worthy of RTC support and someone foolish to spend time and money to run as “a sacrificial lamb” for the GOP party and still lose?.
But, the NB Republicans say they’ve made a strategic decision to concentrate their efforts on the Sixth District State Senate race between New Britain Mayor Tim Stewart and former state Rep. Terry Gerratana.
And where is the Working Families candidates and other third-party candidates who sought recognition during the past November elections. This current race with no incumbents would seem to be an excellent opportunity for them to try to gain a greater foothold in the NB electoral process.
And as for the winner Bobby Sanchez in the 25th District, one man, one vote, one race, one election, we wish him success in his new endeavor up in Hartford.

MS. JOLENE: ASININE STATEMENTS LIKE YOURS MAKES THE WORLD GO AROUND.
After reading all the ethics violations surrounding the local Democrats (read all the articles about Catanzaro, Lopes, Gerratana etc to understand) it appears to me that ethics, oaths, charters and even laws seem to mean very little to Democrats.
ReplyDeleteImagine the Hue and Cry if a Republican dared do half this stuff?
I like it! Sleazy politics are now known as "Gerratana style" That is a phrase that could stick!
ReplyDeleteadefeTo top itoff Young Gerrayana is still employed at the state office building for $35,000 plus.
ReplyDeleteAlso Lopes is employed for $45,00 plus.
This must be the reward for being a sleeeze.
According to CT Sunlight, Rick Lopes made $46,718 in 2009, son Greg made $32.452 that year, and more interestingly, mother Theresa collected a state pension for $3,512 in 2009.
ReplyDeleteFrank:
ReplyDeleteOne of your commenters must have read the Herald Editorial today as well as the delayed posting of yesterday's front page article (Herald))
And where is the Working Families and other third-party candidates who sought recognition during the November elections. This race, with no incumbent, would seem to be an excellent opportunity for them to try to gain a foothold in the electoral process--of course they would simply "rubber stamp" a liberal loon like Sanchez!
ReplyDeleteGreat article Frank way to tell it like it is. Gerratana should run and hide.
ReplyDeletemother Theresa collected a state pension for $3,512 in 2009.
ReplyDeleteSounds like Terry wants to be a double dipper following the example of triple dipper DeFronzo!
mother Theresa collected a state pension for $3,512 in 2009.
ReplyDelete...Does Mother Theresa get state health care too?
Apparently just another self-serving Demorat looking to juice up her pension DeFronzo style.
ReplyDeleteJust like with DeFronzo now getting himself an extra $1.8 million at taxpayer expense (according to the Courant) someone should look at how much this loon stands to get by juicing up her already fat pension by getting elected to this position.
ReplyDeleteIs there any Democrat who isn't double dipping, and now even triple dipping?
Am I the only one who thinks she resembles a witch from the Wizard of Oz?
ReplyDeleteJust use her son as an example of the ethics, or lack thereof, in this family!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the democraps couldn't come up with someone better to run for such a high offic, AND THEN THEY HAD TO DUST OFF A DINOSAUR LIKE JOE HARPER TO BE HER MOUTHPIECE.
ReplyDeleteAnd to muddy the waters even more lets look at Sanchez.
ReplyDeleteHe works for the Head Start program. Head Start receives federal monies. Therefore Sanchez is in VIOLATION of the Hatch Act which prohibits any employee who receives federal money from running for public office.

Too bad that Jolene doesn't know the difference between your and you're. Typical, uneducated dufuscrat.

ReplyDeleteCLEARLY JOLENE ATTENDED AN INFERIOR UNIONIZED PUBLIC SCHOOL. HAD SHE BEEN GIVEN THE AVAILABILITY OF A SCHOOL VOUCHER SO SHE COULD HAVE ATTENDED A BETTER PRIVATE SCHOOL, SHE WOULD KNOW HOW TO SPELL, OR AT LEAST HAVE THE BRAINS TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE RED LINE UNDER THE MISPELLED WORD INDICATES.
TYPICAL DUMBOCRAP!
People seem to look at the Sanchez sutyatuin, memtioned ear;ier, as not a big deal. The man is breaking the law and no one cares. Is it because a Ouert Rican?
ReplyDeleteAfter hearing that his little nephew was appointed to the council with the only qualification they could cite being that he lives on Washington Street (everybody lives someplace), makes you really wonder what political hook they might have to be able to demand such appointments without the slightest resistance.
ReplyDeleteHeard Sanchez was transferred to another departmeng at HRA. Does that make a difference?
ReplyDeleteIt does not make a difference. He still gets paid by HRA and they get federal money.
ReplyDeletetypical democraps--smoke and mirrors!

When Bob Sanchez wins the uncontested 25th District seat in the State House, will he then resign his federally funded position at the NB HRA ? Fat chance! He will keep both government funded jobs. But of course, since he's a Democrat it won't be referred to as "double dipping."
Sounds like Sanchez will begin a longstanding tradition with Democrats building multiple government pensions and multiple free insurance coverages all at taxpayer expense ala Defronzo syle.
ReplyDeletePlease tell me that if people know Sanchez is in violation of the Hatch Act that ehye are going to do something about it insead of just sounding off in this column!

WHY DON'T YOU CONTACT THE INSPECTOR GENERAL'S OFFICE YOURSELF AND MAKE A COMPLAINT, SINCE YOU SEEM TO WANT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT SANCHEZ APPARENTLY VIOLATING THE FEDERAL HATCH ACT?
Hey, I had no idea who toconact. If the first or second persons kne, then they should have done it.. Maybe they did.
ReplyDeleteHow could any normal thinking person vote for this nutjob?
ReplyDeleteWhat a loon!
At least the pool house is still in the same Senate District!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the ACORN type radicals and socialists are all out in force trying to get the queen of the liberals every last possible vote to enable her to ink up that rubber stamp for Malloy's radical programs.
ReplyDeleteIf only she had a mind of her own?
All that matters is that she will answer the door when Bertha Lewis "comes a knockin"
