The New Britain Politicus is recommending mediation at city hall.

FRANKSMITHSAYSNB EDITORIAL:

It is not surprising to have the NBTC Chairman make such a wild recommendation.

The fact is that his minions serving on the city council are the real cause of the existing problems, the latest bizarre activity being the President Pro-Tempore attempting to place a moratorium on the city purchasing goods or services from New Britain businesses simply because they are owned by elected officials, therefore: forcing the city to purchase from out of town vendors who do not pay taxes or employ people here in New Britain.

Fortunately, three of the Democratic members of the council saw fit to break away from their leader's radical extremist accusations--causing a tie vote among the council and allowing the mayor to restore some common sense by breaking the tie with his vote.

Mediation as suggested by the DTC Chairman is absolutely ridiculous.

Obviously, it is the council President Pro-Tempore that needs remediation of some sort; however, as suggested by the council's Minority Leader, Trueworthy apparently did violate sections of the city charter with his false accusations being sufficient to cause his removal from serving on the City Council. The minority leader concluded his comments by saying that Trueworthy should never serve as the acting mayor in the event that the mayor should be out of town. This is the most sensible suggestion to come from the council in a very long time.

  1. The minority leader (Lou Salvio) is correct..The current mayor pro tem should not serve as mayor when the mayor is unavailable. With his temperament, Trueworthy doesn't have what it takes to deal with some of the situations that may arise.
    Trueworthy should resign.

  2. Alderman Lou Salvio is also correct in pointing out that the term "No Bid" could not be found in Black's Law Dictionary of legal words, hence M. Trueworthy's Resolution of "No Bid" Contracts was a sham action meant to deceive the public at the February 23, 2011 Common Council Meeting?

  3. CT Chief State's Attorney Kevin T. Kane found no laws were broken in his review of "allegations" that Bysiewicz used her office to create a state database with information on more than 35,000 state voters to help her politically.

It"s a strange omen that the middle initial of Attorney Kevin T. Kane, the letter "T" reminds us of the name Trueworthy? Because Trueworthy said that he wrote the Resolution because the head of the State Democratic Committee Nancy DiNardo , alleged that Mayor Stewart offered more than $240,000 in no-bid contracts to two city aldermen. When DiNardo sent her letter to the Chief State's Attorney Kevin T. Kane requesting an investigation , who /or whom spoon fed DiNardo the information about no- bid contracts?

  4. It is amusing that Chairman McNamara comes out with a statement calling for "mediation" to eliminate "deadlock" after members of his own party broke ranks to vote against the politically motivated resolution put forward by Alderman Trueworthy. I don't see how he say there are intractable differences between the parties when the resolution was clearly able to move forward to a vote, which failed when three members of the Democrat's party sided with Republican arguments.

Rather than the "breech" growing worse within the past few months it seems to have improved in many ways since the resignation of Alderman Sherwood. Perhaps if a few of the other rabble-rousers decide to leave the council we can finally have a legislative body that values the good of the city and the voters above scoring personal political points and victories.

  5. Regardless of whether the term exists or not, the mayor has nothing to do with purchasing, and it should be sufficient that the purchasing director testified that price quotes were solicited from 16 vendors, and that the lowest price was offered by the businesses owned by these elected officials.

Did anyone ever consider that someone who is willing to dedicate so much of his/her personal time in service to the city just might be willing to offer products at a lower profit margin than normal, out of a sense of civic pride?

So instead of punishing these men for doing what they can to help the city, these loons should be thanking them for saving the city money--especially during such tough economic times.

Of course if Trueworthy understood this concept, his business might still be around.

  9. The New Britain Politicus is recommending mediation at city hall Should New Britain Follow Tulsa And Consider Mediation at City Hall- the Politicus degree is printed below?

"The NB Mayor and City Council majority are facing a big divide over budgets, policies and ethics?

The verbal disputes get heated with name calling and over the top rhetoric that pit one branch of government against another. All of this is occurring weeks ahead of what will be a very difficult municipal budget process?

The situation sounds a lot like New Britain and the continuing breech between the Mayor, his Republican allies on the Council and the Democratic majority on the Council -- a breech that grew worse when the Mayor lost a special election for state Senate this week and the Council leadership moved for a moratorium on city work for elected officials because of charges of favoritism towards them.

As much as it sounds like New Britain, similar conflicts are occurring in Tulsa, Oklahoma where the idea of mediation has surfaced as a way to get the city's business done"?

  11. HARTFORD – The United States Supreme Court has granted a petition supported by the Yankee Institute of Hartford CT, and will review the free speech case in the month of March 2001 challenging the constitutionality of giving taxpayer money to political candidates . The U.S. Supreme Court accepts less than two percent of cases appealed to it, so the Court’s decision to take this case for review is a big deal for the Yankee Institute.

My guess is that the Supreme Court will outlaw this practice similar to the way Obamacare will be overturned for forcing people to buy products as a condition of your citizenship.

This practice amounts to forcible seizing my money against my will and then forking it over to a political candidate I do not support and could never support because he/she is a lunatic socialist Democrat!

The quote above was posted on 2/26/11 on Frank Smith's blog.

What should be brought out also is that Corp. Counsel Attorney Bizzarro brought out the same point.

So, Black's Law Dictionary and the Corp. Counsel point to this egregious act by Trueworthy and all this notwithstanding, 7 (seven) Council Democrats vote yes to pass it (Trueworthy, Hermanowski, Centeno, Sanchez, DeFronzo, Platosz and Catanzaro ; 3 Democrats (Collins, Black and Eva M.) voted, NO with the 4 Council Republicans to force a tie. Mayor Stewart broke the tie, motion defeated.

A very reliable source cooroborated that the sham vote was "arranged" in the Democrats' caucus before the 02/23/11 Common Council meeting. Trueworthy was therefore allowed to save face but all seven Dems looked like fools.
