Editorial: Connecticut should not be first state to impose mandatory sick leave: New Haven Register

  1. The editorial summed it up accurately:

"It only will increase the state’s reputation as a costly, unwelcoming place to do business."

In other words, driving businesses and jobs from Connecticut.

  2. The communists in our legislature are definitely going too far when an ultra-left wing newspaper like the Register calls it overreaching.

  3. I guess the Demos that control the state house want to send a message to the rest of the nation that we are the most radical, anti-business state in the nation.

  5. Why is it these Democrats normally only tell us half the story at best:

The legislation does more than require sick leave for workers. It allows sick leave to be carried over from one year to the next, and it allows workers to take sick leave not just for themselves, but for illnesses of their spouses, children and parents as well.

And, it requires employers to grant sick leave for workers to appear in civil and criminal cases involving family violence and sexual assault.

  6. Wisconsin's governor by far is sending a better message to the rest of the country, one that will attract businesses, while our governor appears to be doing everything in his power to drive businesses from this state in droves.

  7. With Malloy as governor, Working Families Party pushing paid sick days.

“It’s going to be a fight,” said Jon Green, the executive director of the Working Families Party--the ACORN front group.

  12. Corporations don't pay taxes...they collect them....the buyer gets to pay the taxes making 'buying' less appealing.....as far a taxing the rich we cannot condone class warfare as a means of balancing the budget.....If you really want to address the budget you must address 'SPENDING'.

Gov. Malloy...you can get another 1.5 million by cutting the following

    1. African-American Affairs Commission 358K up 129k from 2010

    2. Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission 222K

    3. Commission on Status of Women 605k up 80k from 2010

    4. Latino-Puerto Rican Affairs Commission 329K

By ridding the state of these unnecessary commissions that do not represent the majority of the taxpayers and voters of state you can save another 1.5 million...go to it Gov. Malloy.

  13. There are many other agencies that are just as worthless that could be eliminated and no one would even notice. You could cut the size of state government in half overnight.
