Lou Salvio said...As a Republican member of the NB Common Council, I have spent the better part of the past three years trying to battle the dirty tricks type of politics perpetrated by former Alderman Phil Sherwood, Mike Trueworthy and DTC Chair McNamara. It is reminiscent of the Watergate/Nixon scandal.
It is saddening to see that our two new Democratic aldermen, Sanchez and DeFronzo appear to have been sucked into that sewer of dirty tricks/shenanigans perpetrated by trouble making specialists of the NB DTC and other Democratic officers in City Hall.
While I agree generally with commenters, "Too little, too late" and RTC Chair, Dwight Blint, [Herald on Line, today,Our View, 3/11/11] I say a huge "THANK YOU" to the editorial staff of the Herald on behalf of all Herald Readers that are sick and tired of the New Britain Common Council Democrats that have been pulling tricks like this for the past seven plus years.
I also appreciate the efforts of the few Council Democrats who have, on occasion and with their votes, helped to limit the damage done by the Democratic trouble makers.
I wonder if Terry Gerratana is bothered at all by today's Herald Editorial. Kind of makes her campaign strategy - hatched by Sherwood - TAINTED to say the least. What do you all think?
While we don't think a sleazy radical like Gerrantana cares what underhanded tricks were pulled by Sherwood or anyone else in her campaign. I understand she is an extremist hell bent on winning no matter what the cost, all in the name of pushing her radical, socialist agenda!
Once again, John McNamara shows his ignorance by castigating the Herald for what is its First Amendment Right to free speech and for what McNamara and Aldewrman DeFronzo, say they want to preserve, namely, transparency and full disclosure in government.
First, a correction; Tim Stewart has been Mayor for seven-plus years. Second, stating in 2003, every Council member transgression, ethics violation, false complaints to Police of threats etc., has been made by a Democrat - some are still pending - From Lopes to Gerratana. Some even involved criminal offenses perpetrated by aides of our State Legislators, aides, incidentally, still working at the Capitol or LOB. To paraphrase, McNamara accuses Stewart of abusing his office and being ambitious, but McNamara (the lesser) is an "honorable man."
McNamara accuses the Herald of, " ... a blatant distortion..." Imagine, the pot calling the kettle, tarnished! McNamara easily forgets how the distortion, the specious/spurious issue that DeFronzo is trying to perpetuate was recently used by now Democratic State Senator, Gerratana in her campaign against Stewart last month.
No mention has been made of the fact that Carlo Carlozzi owns an insurance business. Is he excluded from selling insurance to fellow council members or other elected officials, or city employees?
Mr. McNamara: by your having a freshman alderman present an issue that has already been turned down with some of your Democratic aldermen support. With a change of language and repeating the same issue that was resolved appeared to be quacking duck.

John, you are a devious and inadequate person.
