Wait til you see what happens with your electric rates once comrade Dan succeeds in driving our only nuclear plant into shutdown with his radical communist tax plan.
Dominion, the owner of the plant, has already promised to shut down the plant and lay off all their employees if Danno gets his tax plan passed.
Dan Weekley, Vice President of Government Affairs for the Dominion Corporation which owns Millstone, explained that there is a bill currently being considered by the Connecticut Senate, Senate Bill 1176, that would impose a production tax of $.02kw/hr on the electricity produced by Millstone. The company estimated cost of that tax would be $335 million in the first year.
This will amount to our socialist Democrats once again being penny wise and pound foolish. Just like raising taxes on the rich and forcing them to flee the state, this is $335 million the state will never see because the company promises to decommission the reactor and lay off the thousands of employees.
Not only will you not collect the $335 million, you will pay about 3,000 employees unemployment benefits, and you will be forced to pay much higher electric rates by having to buy your power from out of state suppliers who will be free to charge a desperate state like Connecticut whatever they want for their power.
At the hands of socialist Democrats, it is like this state is being run by a bunch of 2 year old morons.
Since Dominion is from a right to work state run by conservatives (Virginia) I guess they are just not used to dealing with radical socialists taxing businesses out of existence. After all, don't they deserve to be punished severely because of their evil profits?

One of the biggest hindrances to job growth in CT is the cost of power, even sited often as a competitive disadvantage by those running for office.
ReplyDeleteWe guess this distinguishes those who say what to do, and those who do.
