I was forced to belong to a union as a condition of my employment because Connecticut is a "forced" union state. You have no choice but to belong to the union or quit your job.
All they did was forcibly take money from my paycheck so that the union could funnel my money to candidates that I would never support nor would I ever vote for because they were all socialist Democrats. It was like living under a dictatorship.
Union thugs will tell you that you are not required to belong to the union, but in Connecticut, whether you belong or not, you must pay the same dues through payroll deduction whether you want to or not--even if you do not want the union thugs negotiating for you--the money is forcibly taken by your employer. It is what Governor Christie of New Jersey described as "Hotel California" because you can check out, but you can never leave.
I believe if you gave employees the choice of whether to belong or not, like in the 26 "right-to-work" states in the US, even the majority of public sector employees would choose not to belong to a union if they would not be forced to pay the dues whether they wanted to or not.
I would never again belong to a union and I would never consider going to work for a company that was unionized. I should never have that problem again because I am in the process of moving out of Connecticut to a "free state" where no one may ever be forced to belong to a union because it is a "right to work" state and it is illegal to force anyone to belong to a union and union dues may never ever be deducted from a paycheck even if you wanted them to.
Unions are destroying this country and I am glad to be moving where I don't have to put up with them anymore!
I guess people like me refusing to spend my hard earned money at any business that employs union help is having its impact. If I am responsible for even one union slug losing their job, then it was worth it!

I'll bet you save loads of money because non-union usually means a much better deal for the customer because they aren't paying someone $48 per hour plus free health care and a pension plan for a part time job bagging groceries!
Union members built the pyramids. It was originally designed as a cube. Each shift did a little less 'til the steward said 'throw a rock on top and lets go home'.
