The liberal loons have already begun their attack against this development. Should the Dems lose their efforts to derail this and the store gets built, just wait to see all the radical protests Costco will no doubt have to put up with in front of their business. They will wish they never got involved with a radical city like New Britain. Costco officials simply need to ask Walmart why they pulled up stakes and abandoned New Britain as if the entire city had the plague.
This is a positive outcome. It is very important not to rush into anything, to honor the trust and have an independent review before steps are taken to move forward.
The Walmart issue has absolutely nothing to do with the Costco proposal and to the poster, there are democrats and republicans on both sides of this fence to be sure.
I don't recall ever seeing a Republican tree hugger. We are usually too busy working and paying our taxes to allow so many Democrats to never work a day in their lives.
The Walmart issue has absolutely nothing to do with the Costco proposal...
Sure it does, they are one in the same. Democrats will stop at nothing to destroy a business, since they are the evil empire.
How dare they expect to make money off their investment. That is simply un-American. They should give their profits away, preferably to people who don't work and who have never done a day's work in their entire lives.
That is the Democratic Party platform. Punish success and reward laziness!
This is simply another slap in the face to New Britain and the State. Why do something to help New Britain and CT when you can tax and spend our citizens to distraction. Somebody on the blogs, yesterday, threatened that there would be a lawsuit. Why, to spend more taxpayer money to satisfy a few naysayers that suddenly became experts on everything? Now, more of our taxes will be spent to have newly elected and/or appointed state attorneys judge whether New Britain atoorneys are competent. What makes George Jepsen and his staff any more competent than NB attorneys? Oh, I forgot, Jepsen won an election and someone appointed others to his staff. Many protesters are confused about A.W. Stanley Park. The Little League field, the Pool, the basketball courts the other ball field, etc.,will remain intact - will not be touched. Also anything that you see in that park was built by the City, is maintained by the city, using taxpayer dollars. Who contacted Jepsen's office? If that can be determined, we can have a more clear answer to all the games being played.
Dictator Dan's entire administration is apparently devoted to doing anything and everything in their power to destroy businesses in this state. It appears that they want the entire population to live off of some sort of government assistance, therefore needing to vote for Democrats to keep the free ride rolling.
You just wait and see the radicals coming out of the woodwork should this store be built and say they decide to hire an all white management staff. Just like at Walmart, you will have your local Democrats forming protests to picket the store demanding Puerto Rican managers.
In fact, Costco can expect Democrats to picket and protest any time little mack's disciples decide they don't like how Costco is running their business. Costco might as well accept that once the store is built, they will have to turn the management decisions over to the local Democratic Party, for they will never be allowed to make a management decision without interference from the local radical fringe group.
Obviously Costco knows very little about New Britain politics cause that last post was right on the money about the council Dems running their business for them whether they like it or not.
Only three members of The Common Council - all Democrats - voted against the SGC zone change at the Council's P,Z & H subcommittee on 6/7/11. The three were, Dave DeFronzo, Mike Trueworthy and Eva Magnuszewski. It is my opinion that one of these three, one with political connections in Hartford, either called or wrote to the A.G.'s office to ask for an investigation into the SGC zone change issue. That's the only issue about the SGC proposal from Costco that has had Council input thus far. No puchase and sale agreement, etc. Questions for the AG: what, in the name of all that is within the AG's purvue and in the realm of AG functions does your office have to do with a Municipal Zone Change issue that has yet to be finalized?, and, who made the request for you to get involved? (Of course, I think I know the answer already?) If my thinking turns out to be correct and this proposal is stifled, it will be yet another example of obstructionism by NB Council Democrats in the same vein as the lost $15 M sale of excess NB watershed property to Tilcon a few years ago; this sale was squashed in the state legislature by Don DeFronzo and Tim O'Brien. Losing $!5 here, $4 or $5 million there in property sales revenue means nothing to these folks as long as their election votes are secured. HOW DO THE CITIZEN TAXPAYERS OF NB FEEL ABOUT THEIR TAXES AND MILL RATE NOW?
Only a couple of steps in the "process" have been completed. WHAT WILL THE AG FIND OUT? When Alix Stanley "gave the land to NB, there was no golf course, no A.W.Stanley Park, no swimming pool no ball fields or anything else. The City, with a little help of the then, WPA, built most of these things. Do we have deeds for these? What documents are requested that mean anything?
More interestingly, what authority does the AG have to stick his nose into municipal affairs?
Anytime the City of New Britain would ask for his opinion on something, the AG's standard answer is that he only represents the State and has no authority over municipal affairs.
All of a sudden, because a fellow radical subversive asks him to, he is the perceived ultimate authority over a municipal board? Sounds like someone is abusing the authority (or imagined authority as the case may be) of his office?

ReplyDeleteMy second comment on this issue:
