I thought this property was on target for private development that would provide tax revenue for years to come?
The school sounds great but what does it do for city taxpayers into the future?
Could this possibly present expenses for New Britain?
The sale of the property, a one time financial sale, is that being budgeted into this year's budget for the no tax increase? If so, that is financially irresponsible.
Unfortunately, we cannot continue to fund grant programs and associated employee positions as the grants run out for example, Parks & Rec. We cannot afford to set ourselves up for new grant programs that ultimately will represent an expense down the road ie: 7 police officers.
We will also recognize the loss of the NBGH parking garage revenue shortly.
Mayor Stewart understands this complex budget had Mayor Stewart been afforded a common council that would have worked with him the past 6 years, without doubt, we would not be in this situation today. That is water under the bridge now as we look to the future.

Pinnacle Heights property was zoned to NOT have big box stores (WalMart, KMart, Target) built there, primarily due to it's proximity to a highly residential area. It is preferred that an executive park type situation be developed, with small businesses such as banks, etc., with a natural buffer zone, to keep it a low traffic area.

It is preferred that an executive park type situation be developed, with small businesses such as banks, etc., with a natural buffer zone, to keep it a low traffic area.
