Six hundred wartime veterans and their families gathered at The Wartime Service Medal Ceremony at Slade Middle School on Friday, June 24, 2011 in New Britain with their family and relatives as they receive their Connecticut Wartime Service Medal and Ribbon.
I was truly glad to be able to honor our New Britain wartime veterans with this important state medal stated Commissioner Linds S. Schwartz of the state Department of Veterans Affairs.
Although the Schedule of Events and Presentation of Awards Program stated that the Commissioner of Veterans' Affairs (Director Linda S.Schwartz) in conjunction with the Adjutant General (Major General Thaddeus Martin) shall award a ribbon and medal to Veterans' who served in time of war; the Adjutant General was not present at the Award Ceremony.
Director Linda Schwartz and Governor Dannel P. Malloy both signed each Vererans' Certificate of Award.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars also thanks Connecticut's Adjutant General Major General Thaddeus Martin for sending the NB High School Color Guard in the Presentation of Colors and the Retirement of Colors at the Ceremony.
We veterans' also thank the members of the Color Guard Sergeant Johnny Dumeny, Sergeant Jesse Stanley, Specialist Nichole Cy.and Private First Class Shaneka Ashman.
Only one Officer... the Junior vice-commander of the VFW Post 511, at 41 Veterans Drive in New Britain, CT signed up and attended the Veterans' Service Medal Award Ceremony.
At the New Britain Veterans' Wartime Service Medal Ceremony the folks listed below attended and sponsored the Ceremony but have no Certification of Veterans of Wars (VFW) military service and/or active service dates at the National Personnel records Center at St. Louis, Missouri:
State Rep. Tim O'Brien State Rep. Peter Tercyak State Rep. Betty Boukus State Rep. Robert Sanchez State Senator Terry Gerratana United States Senator Richard Blumenthal Stephanie Podewell, representing Congressman Chris Murphy's Office
I think that wacko was cracked long before!
