THE NEW BRITAIN DEMOCRATIC TOWN COMMITTEE NOMINATES REP. TIM O'BRIEN FOR MAYOR.

With 34 votes for O'Brien and 6 for Paul Catanzaro the conclave selected O'Brien for his second try for the Mayoral Seat.

A Democratic Primary is a certainty with the other two Mayoral candidates in the mix former Mayor Lucian Pawlak and former Alderwoman Barbara Kirejczk.

  1. Look at that. The dirty hands of the Dem's show. John Mc say Tim O and they vote him. Paul had the votes earlier. Now that master speaks the puppets vote. Very sad

  4. So much for being the top vote getter, election after election.

Paul has just been royally shafted by his own party. I doubt he will be able to sit for weeks.

  5. O'Brien is a slob. He is always unkept. It makes me cringe to think he could have the awesome task of managing this city.

  6. Are the taxpayers going to have to pay for baby sitters if he gets elected [God forbid]? Does this poor child have a mother or does she live out of town?

  7. Someone has to file a complaint about the CHILD ABUSE on poor little Olivia

It is absolutely unacceptable. If ??? God forbid Tim got elected would he have a PLAY PEN in the Mayors offfice ??

  10. Regarding the issue of Tim O'Brien dragging his daughter all around the political scene. As a woman, a mother and businesswoman I am offended that in 2011 we continue to face double standards in the business enviroment. If Mr. O'Brien thinks his actions will bring him the female vote by having his child with him, he is making a mistake. Just this week there is an article about women running for office and the disparity between the numbers of men vs. women. Child rearing is sited as one of the major reasons women hold off or stay out of politics. Of course, women are not permitted to drag their young children into meetings and professional situations, we would be thrown out on our asses. But Tim O'Brien he just plows on with baby on hip. No respect for others, his child or the political process. The situation has grown grossly obnoxious.

  11. WHEN are the DEMS going to learn ??

TIM has no class. I might not have not agreed wih Belly Mac or Don DeFronza but at leasy they had some class, They were college educatid and years of experoemce.

Tim has none of these attributes.

WHO WOULD BE RUNNING THE CITY ????
CCAG OR THE WORKING FAMALIES PARTY ??

  13. There had to be a few members of the DTC who knew that they were getting really lousy candidates who would have been laughed out of town in NB's peak years.

Why do you settle for slobs with no common sense, not to mention any resume. Did they even graduate from High School?

It does not say much for the DTC members and certainly not for their leader, McNamara.

  14. Maybe it is time for Catanzaro to switch parties and become a Republican?

What have the Dems done for him besides shaft him time and again?

  15. How anyone in thier mind can even think about voting for Tim is betond me. Last night most of what he talked about is the NATIONALnproblems. He said nothing (that makes sense) about what he has planned for the cities future. He just waved his arms and said BLAH _ BLAH _ BLAF.

A ten year old would made more sense. It is BERY obvious he is just a puppet of the workong Fami;ies Party.

And worse of all YOU PEOPLE SQUEAL AND CLAP its SAAAAD.

  16. Frank:

A quote from O'Brien; “We don’t need a chief executive who says you have to live with blighted buildings in our city,” O’Brien said. “We don’t need a chief executive that shows discontent when it comes to education.”

Here's a guy who doesn't have an education to speak of talking about Mayor Stewart who has a university degree in Electrical Engineering.

Re blight. If Stewart's administration had not "foreclosed" on O'Brien's "Anti blight ordinance" and redone the whole thing, the whole city would be a bigger mess than it now is.

  17. In many ways, the year of 2011 is going to be a turning point in New Britain politics, Tim O'Brien told a cheering crowd of more than 60 at city hall. We don't have to have a chief executive who sows discontent and division. We don't have to have a chief executive who tells the people they just have to live with blighted buildings, stated Mr. O'Brien.

Dear Mr. O'Brien, you are not running against Mayor Tim Stewart. You are running against Mark Bernacki and many others. You sound like Barack Obama running against John McCain, arguing that voting for the opposition will result in yet another term of the same man and policies.

What are YOUR ideas? How will you improve our city? That's what people want to know. For over a decade you have represented our city, and what do we have to show for it?

No property tax reform, no increase in state aid for our schools (beyond inflation), blight ordinances that had all the holes of a pound of Swiss, and yet plenty of rhetoric. People are sick of rhetoric and politics, Mr. O'Brien.

They are sick of career politicians like yourself, who have done nothing with their lives except make a living off of the taxpayer's dime, all the while championing yourself as an outsider from Manchester, CT.

All you know how to do is fear-monger and lie about your opponents, Mr. O'Brien. We are so disappointed in your lack of vision and leadership. We hope and pray residents of NB see you for what you are: a carpet-bagging EX- politician from the town of Manchester, CT.

  18. As someone who was involved with New Britain politics for years, I am astonished at this outcome. Out of the five declared candidates, in my mind-O'Brien is the least impressive and least qualified to run the City. Thank goodness the ultimate outcome will be in the hands of the voters, not the DTC.

    ANSWER:

Bertha Lewis will be the de facto mayor!

  20. I guess Timmy carries the baby around because it is the baby who will really be making all the decisions?

  21. Maybe word of mouth can defeat O'Brien. If he is a Socialist, aren't the members of the DTC all socialists as well.

Most people don't know the truth. They just go and vote along part lines. It is up to the informed to spread the word about Mark Bernacki's exceptional attributes and how really bad his opponent is...

But then,if O'Brien loses, what have we got??? Not much!

  22. For those of you that are ot familar with the bane Bertha Lewis she is the CEO ABD CHUEF ORGANIZER OF ACORN.

  23. Make no mistake about it, if a radical extremist like O'Brien gets into City Hall, you might as well turn the keys to the city over to Big Bertha!

  24. Not only has OBrian done nothing for the City of New Britain at the state level, he doesn't even support local business here in New Britain!!!! He is having a fund raiser at a HARTFORD resturant. Makes me sick!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. If a State Representative from one of New Britain's districts can live in Hartford, then why can't Slimy Tim run for Mayor of New Britain while supporting Hartford businesses with his fundraisers?

  26. Is Baby Olivia O'Brien running as co-mayor with her father?

  27. is that Deputy Mayor Olivia, but in reality Olivia would be the brains of the operation.

Following up on the quote above, it appears that O'brien has initiated a new fashion trend; look at his tie, he knotted it so that the back of it shows!
Maybe Olivia tied it for him.

  29. I would expect O'Brien to use clip ons--not intelligent enough to tie a knot.

  30. Judging by the look on her face, that child is unhappy. How could anyone vote for a candidate who places his own political ambitions above his young child's happiness.
