  2. Poor leadership from Tim Stewart. He has defended these officers right from day one instead of letting the process play itself out.

  3. to anonymous- YOU are talking about using established process? A few persons armed with their emotions (for whatever reason-real/perceived) elect to go to the press instead of using the city process to investigate / review? I think putting this all in the press (how else would it get there) says it all.

  4. How can you blame the mayor for the actions of the Board of Police Commissioners which by state law is solely responsible for all discipline, hiring, firing, promotions etc. within the police department? These decisions are not the mayor's to make, nor are they the chief's. The state law reserves these decisions exclusively to the BPC.

In fact, in accordance with the charter, doesn't the BPC maintain a Democratic majority as is the case on all boards and commissions?

Blaming the mayor for the BPC actions or inaction is like blaming George Bush for the activities of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

Once again, the local Democrats are behind a fiasco and trying to blame the mayor for their own incompetence.

  5. How is the Mayor to blame for the ineptness of the Board of Police Commissioners? HE APPOINTED THEM AND THEY SERVE AT HIS LEISURE!!!

  6. Hello. BOPC's, Mayor and Appointed Chief 15 yrs ago were all due to the Democrat "leadership" in NB. Also, BPOC does not all you claim due to city charter changes.

  7. A police captain can't keep his penis in his pants and it's the mayor's fault? I know that the mayor doesn't care for this captain and in fact has recommended him for discipline several times for his actions regarding overtime. How about the actions of these people who have been mistreated? Nobody says anything about the girl who has slept with half the department and now alledges inappropriate text messages to her? Not to defend Paventi but is she for real? Or the other officer that was fond of oral copulation and the city demotes and gets rid of the officer and now she wants money for performing these acts? Nothing will change until the arbitration process is gone and people cannot file grievances when to don't get what they want in their workplaces!
I don't think you will see statements from the mayor defending any of these action quite the contrary. And when did using the media against the city become an accepted practice or part of the process.

  8. " ... the ineptness of the Board of Police Commissioners? HE APPOINTED THEM AND THEY SERVE AT HIS LEISURE!!!" The correct term is, " ...they serve at his pleasure."

  9. ...but the fact remains that the majority of the commissioners are Democrats, so it goes without saying that they are incompetent.
