Reader Questions Tim O'Brien

In recent publications of the local newspapers State representative O'Brien, in his quest to become New Britain's new mayor, has made claims that he helped the elderly and the poor, which is directly opposite to his actions made with his state representative voting record.

Primarily, he voted in support to the Malloy's sales tax increase to 6.35% that included a tax on food, clothing, and medicines.

The Poor and the Seniors are facing enough hardships without having to pay sale taxes for the above mentioned items but, adding insult to injury, when a senior attempts to purchase a clothing gift for his/her grandchild this O'Brien tax applies.

For this very reason I recommend all the voters of New Britain to support Alderman Mark Bernacki to become our next Mayor.

  1. WHEN are the voters going to understand that O'Brirn talks out of both sides of his mouth at the same time.

It like him saying that he has been responsible for bringing over $100,000,000 into this city for education.HO WAY NO HOW!!!!!

He is most definately voted to give the State the LARGEST TAX INCREASE IN THE HISTORY OF THIS STATE.

You're an idiot. The majority of the taxes raised by O'Brien/Malloy places the burden almost entirely on folks making over $100K a year in Fairfield County, while Mark Bernacki raised property taxes on all homeowners in new Britain along with his crony Lucian Pawlak by 40% in 2003 and by 8% in 2002.

DEMOCRATS SURE KNOW HOW TO LIE TO COVER THEIR DISMAL RECORDS! SOMEHOW DOUBLING THE FEE WE ALL PAY FOR OUR DRIVER'S LICENSES AND DOUBLING THE LICENSE FEES EVERY OCCUPATION LIKE PLUMBERS AND ELECTRICIANS HAVE TO PAY ONLY AFFECTS THOSE EVIL RICH PEOPLE WHO MUST BE PUNISHED BY THE DEMOCRATS!

  4. Let the wage earning folks weigh in.

How many of us have more taken out of our paychecks? Pay more sales tax on ALL things we buy? Pay any fees for anything the state got its claws into? Yup. All of us $100,000+ wage earners. Right. Give us a break. Quit the lies.

Property revaluation coming up to 2013. More flat funding from Obrien? Oh right. He's taking credit for a predetermined funding formula that the legislature capped for New Britain. The democrats want more education money but want local taxpayers to pay. That way liberals can blame everyone but themselves and the cronies they elect in Hartford.

  5. TEA PARTY & OCCUPY WALL STREET MEDIA MESSAGE...

At first the Main Street Media mock them, seems we read disparaging remarks about the Tea Party (TP) movement way back, when they began to look at OBama in White House and his tele-prompter speeches on sharing your wealth.

The two main gatherings of the Tea Party (TP) in Washington ,DC numbered 300/500K and Boston, Mass. was 200K. The parks were clean when TP Folks arrived and clean when they left. The Act of shitting on Police cars, the public nudity and the public sex were not at TEA rallies, you can decide for yourself if that's a good thing or not...public shitting, really?

TEA had one message, Small Gov. responsible Finance and Regulation. Occupy Wall Street (OWS) uhmm, no coherent message and much glomming on by Big Labor, Soros, and the DNC, including your OBama Presidency.

That said, the TEA movement was widely regarded as the main reason for the 2010 Blood bath elections.

And, the main Constituency of the Occupy Wall Street crowd are one of the lowest voting segments of society, and their one of many messages amongst or wacky ones; (free college, free housing, debt forgiveness) of class warfare is not going to garner votes. Sorry, but some folks are in for a huge fall if your taking a ride on this Wall Street Train Wreck.

Of course the side show of watching one lose the Senate and the Presidency, is going to be epic!

The commenter above has a selective memory. Tim O'Brien was also on the Council in 2002 & 2003. He voted with Lucian on everything!
