Citizens of New Britain, you have no one to blame but yourself. You have elected officials who have said they are for new business but have a record for blocking new business from coming in (Example Costco) to NB?
Yes, you have elected officials that say they are against blighted buildings but have voted against doing something about it (voted to leave blighted old Aquinas building the way it is)
Not to mention the fact that many who did vote were led by the nose. If you voted, you probably saw the many vans with Massachusetts plates busing in people. You may have seen the union people or the guys from Massachusetts handing out cards at various voting districts in NB?
This mayor was not elected by the people of New Britain. This city only has itself to blame. Less than a 20% turn out. What reward will Lucian Pawlak receive from the new mayor?
We hope that Lucian Pawlak is happy with the 903 votes that he got. Sorry that he still does not have a job, but why did he have to ruin it for the whole city? He could have stayed out of it and helped Mark Bernacki.
It is great the Mayor's Stewart's daughter won a seat on the Board of education. She should be a great asset to the BOE !
Since Tim O'Brien has never had a real job, he has lived off the tax payer's all his life. He will raise your taxes as promised and won't cut spending because it's not his money to lose - IT'S OURS - THE TAX PAYERS of New Britain.
No new businesses will come into NB because he does not want them or he would have welcomed Costco to the city instead he is fighting to keep them out.
So we thank him very very much, and we hope you NB Taxpayers all enjoy the screwing you are about to get with more and more higher O'Brien Taxes-on the way - $$$$$$$$$.
President Obama’s Agriculture Department today 11/09/2011 announced that it will impose a new 15-cent charge on all fresh Christmas trees—the Christmas Tree Tax—to support a new Federal program to improve the image and marketing of Christmas trees.
We've love to see how O'Brien plans to cut taxes and raise the education budget. Since public education is our biggest expense, we believe that's actually impossible...but we will let him solve the tax problem?.
How about we stop coddling these kids who don't want to learn? Our test scores are horrendous. If you don't want to learn and want to be disruptive so no one else can learn, then you're out. We shouldn't have to pay for education for these kids anymore.
Better yet, hold their parents accountable. If their children can't behave then they should sign a contract that they will home-school their children or pay for a private education.
Someone quoted 'Patriot's" comments from the New Britain Herald and left out the rest of the sentence. She, meaning the mayor's daughter, should be a great asset to the BOE. The rest of the sentence was,"if she shows up and does her homework, wink, wink!" Sounds like another Leslie Jacobs to me.
Regarding Lucian Pawlak -- if ALL of Pawlak & Mayo's votes went to Bernacki, O'Brien still wins... and we know that not all of them would have gone to Mark.
Our Republican campaign operation in town this year was absolutely pathetic. And those Bernacki fundraising numbers were dismal compared to the Democrats. We are supposed to be the party of the business world...the party of the wealthy. In 2009, Stewart raised just as much as O'Brien did this year. How were we unable to even come close to the Democrats in that category this year?
Go back in history. You will learn that the Republican Towm Committee does very little for their Republican candidates. One won ders why they agree to be on the committee. They all seem to be interested in getting jobs for themselves or their families from the PUC. Now that Blint got a job for his spouse as a spokesman from the CL&P, he will soon be out of there. He was a RINO at best. he certainly did not get out the vote. But, then, he was Stewart's buddy. Enough said....
Now that O'Brien is our new mayor, will Costco back off on building a store in New Britain? He was negative in his opinion on their opening in New Britain, as well as being partly responsible for WalMart closing it's New Britain store. Hopefully, he won't negate Mayor Stewart's efforts to improve New Britain's business environment.

A loss of Salvio and Marroccio will be very hard for the new Administration to overcome the loss of expertise they brought to the common council
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU TO THE VOTERS THAT VOTED IN FOR MY EIGTH TERM.
ReplyDeleteAS I STATED IN MY RESUME - - I VOW TO DO MY BEST TO SAFEGUARD THE WELL BEING OF THE STUDENTS, TAXPAYERS, PARENTS AND OUR GREAT CITY.

ReplyDeleteBlint's wife was working for CL&P long before he became chairman. Where does all this fiction come from?

ReplyDeleteCostco will be history?
ReplyDeleteWhy?
Because Tim O'Brien is the (politician) as stated by WIKIPEDIA, the free encyclopedia.
