HEADLINE: 3 House Candidates Each Qualify For Nearly $20K In Public Financing - but....ONLY TWO CANDIDATES IN 24th DISTRICT QUALIFY...PETER STEELE & RICK LOPES?
So....Petition candidate Tom Bozek, 70, a former Democratic State Senator, did not apply for public financing because as a petition candidate he needed to gather at least 900 signatures by Dec. 5,2011 a threshold and deadline he wasn’t able to meet.
this article is not correct, as of this morning Rick Lopes has not been approved by the election enforcement commission, who's not doing their homework? Does Storace just write whatever people tell him?
The editor at The New Britain Herald Newspaper who writes headlines for a news story developed by Staff Reporter should review the copy in the story before writing the headline. This headline in this story "3 House Candidates Each Qualify For Nearly $20K In Public Financing" is not only misleading... It's incorrect.
In the interest of fairness to Mr Storace, he shouldn't be singled out, because all of the N.B. Herald scribes copy whatever the communications director put in front of them.
Some of the quotes attributed to Bozek in the article include “Section 8 housing is a cancer to the taxpayers,” “Habitat for Humanity sucks,” and that his campaign is “taking a stand against social programs, public housing, homes with more than three bedrooms, and any public policy that attracts poor people in New Britain.”
