Has anyone been hired yet to fill Jakubowski's position as Asst. Super.? If yes, is former H.S. Princ., Paul Salina still being paid about $85K? If the answers to these two questions are yes and yes, where is this money coming from?
These jokers at the BOE, most of whom live out of town must be out of their minds.
We need to stop the cradle to grave - now the city is providing 3 meals a day to some - largesse being doled out by out of towners who care nothing about the strapped taxpayers of New Britain.
Can someone explain why such an increase when less then 60% go on to futher their education. The Hearld stated a few weeks ago that somewhere in the 50% tile pursure a career. How many fines were collected from the Blight Oridinance? The Mayor stated that this money was going to education.
The last commenter needs to take a class in spelling or typing for that matter. Yes it is our money stupid! So what if it is from a grant from the feds it is still all of our money! Grants inflate the budget by more than 20% above what they actually request and where does all of that money show on the proposal???? It doesn't only the big ones show up as presented to the public, Title 1, ECS,Transporation Grants and the smaller ones get buried. Same old tactics same old baloney! Get ready taxpayers your next tax bill is going to send many into shock!
This could all be avoided with a voucher system where we could send these children to much better private schools for one third of the cost, but Democrats will not hear of it because they protect the seriously inferior public schools all in the name of keeping the money flowing into those unions so the unions can in turn give some of it back to these elected officials in the way of campaign contributions.
Basically, the children are being screwed by these Democrats all in the name of lining their pockets with campaign money from unions.
Who was it that just two months ago instituted a hiring freeze for all NB City departments? Who was it that just two months ago said he would "fight" to see that the NB School District would be adequately funded? Who was it that said that his refined blight ordinance would collect fines for blight that would go to education - instead is giving a day of overtime to our "blight officer?" Who is it that has yet to appoint the Board of Finance & Taxation that is Charter bound to examine all proposed City budgets and suggest a City budget to the Mayor? Who is it that continues appointing committees and gives them "wide powers" not granted by Charter or State statutes? If you can't answer these questions you must be one of the thousands in NB living off of entitlements doled out by by the NB Democratic Party and the Democrat Working Families Party.
Taxpayers of New Britain can't handle the exorbitant budgets requested by the School District; and then they get to read the bad news that our kids are one of the lowest if not the lowest performing student groups in the state. Those that have the wherewithal should leave while they can. You will get no reprieve from this bunch of incompetents.
$11 million in the hole-$12 million more for the schools - 26 more people hired ($2.6 million). Damn just how many blighted properties is OBrien going after?
The union bitches cannot and will not think for themselves. They are mindless automatons following the idiotic propaganda of the corrupt, jobs-killing union bosses that has been indoctrinated into their feeble minds.
We could cut the budget by 2/3 and the children would get a much better education if we simply contracted out the entire school system to the Archdiocese. Their tuition at their schools is roughly $3,500 per year per student while the City of New Britain is currently spending roughly $13,000 per student to deliver an inferior education.

...once again unions are at the root of all evils!
ReplyDeleteAnd Mayor-Sherwood will have an excuse for raising the TAXES because of the educational cost that Tim promised to allow in the first place.

ReplyDeleteAnd let's not forget, he doesn't need new revenue either. Wishes Costco would go away.
