The Sherwood Saga

Is Mayor O'Brien going to defend or ignore the many complaints voice by the citizens of our city over Mr. Sherwood's adverse activities over the selection of the new Superintendent of New Britain Schools?

  1. Through his silence, O'Brien has condoned everything Sherwood has done and will have to wear it around his neck like an albatross.

  2. The mayor will do nothing unless he is forced to by the Democratic controlled Board of Ed.

The Board leaders should take the following steps.

1)Ask themselves the question: "how would we handle this matter if we were dealing with the Stewart Administration?" 2)answer the question honestly. 3)Proceed accordingly.

Let's see what they do, if anything. Time will tell.

  3. Sherwood could do the entire city a favor and return to New Hampshire, that is if they don't stop him at the border.

  4. Sweeping Sherwood's actions under the rug is like placing an albatross around Superintendent Coopers' neck. The B.O.E. is setting him up for failure before he even begins his work.

  5. Sharon Beloin Saavedra should take the lead here. I suspect that she hesitates because Mcnamara is very vindictive. What does she have to lose? The DTC should have supported her instead of Lopes for state rep. She does not owe them a thing. Do the right thing, Sharon.

  6. While Sherwood was a city Alderman he was vindictive to all he dealt with which leaves wonderment as to why Mayor O'Brien hired this much hated individual

  7. The good ol'e boy network at the DTC rarely chooses female candidates over male. They keep their female politicians so completely blinded by their LIB Dem ideology that they fail to even notice. The Boy's just keep these women hanging around, and tap them on the shoulder when they need them.

  9. Frank:

Although there is no recall provision in the NB Charter for recall of an elected official, there is no such provision for an appointed official. I believe a petition drive should be instituted to have Phil Sherwood removed from any position associated with the Mayor's Office, NB Politics or anything/position associated with City government!. Sherwood is a cancer/oncological disaster, a toxin, a parasite, a pernicious infectious bacterium, a defiency disease, a fungus, a trouble maker par excellence!!

He is evil and exists in politics only to spark trouble even where there is none to be found. Mr. O'Brien, GET RID OF HIM!

Eavesdropping or NOT- the fact that someone who works for the mayor would THREATEN the BOE president into doing what THEY (not he people- Phoney Phil did not walk in there on his own) want- is a total and utter abuse of power and should not go unaddressed. Can you imagine the sh!tstorm that this would be if it was last year and this was one of mayor Stewarts aids?

  15. The fact is; if this alleged private conversation between the chair and an uninvited guest (Sherwood), took place during an executive session, then it was completely out of order, and should never have been allowed in the first place! Board member Carver had more than a right to listen in; he had a duty to!

It is well known that The Board President is an avid supporter of the Mayor, and was heavily involved in his campaign. She was also one of his biggest financial contributors. It may be time to hold off on the accolades, and demand that she confirm whether or not, a private conversation did take place, and if so, that she reveal exactly what was said during it. Her continued request for the public's trust is inconsistent with her secrecy.

  16. To Mr. Salvio:

I fear you may have missed my point regarding women and The D.T.C.

Simply put, Lib Dem women candidates are consistently treated as 3rd class citizens by the male dominated D.T.C., yet most of them appear to be completely unaware of. Those who are aware are never heard from.

  17. Printed below a section of Melissa del Bosque magazine article on the NACLA Report on the Americas / North America Congress on Latin America.

In May 2008, Media Matters, a web-based, progressive research center, released Fear and Loathing in Prime Time, a report that analyzed the immigration rhetoric heard on cable news.

The report focused on commentators who often discussed the issue of illegal immigration on their programs, such as CNN’s Lou Dobbs and Fox’s Bill O’Reilly and Glenn Beck. The report found that these hosts provided an extremely high amount of information. For example, despite studies that show that immigrants are less likely to commit crimes, O’Reilly and Beck particularly promoted the idea that “illegal aliens” were responsible for a crime wave sweeping the country.

Lou Dobbs and Glenn Beck lost their individual TV cable programs dealing with issue of "illegal aliens" (Latino students trends, etc.) on the Mexican border.

  22. Ms Saavedras claim that the BOE is transparent is a crock. Its dealings with the public as only transparent when she ( and only she ) wants it to be.

    ReplyDelete
  23. For years now, under, its' Democratic leadership, the B.O.E. has practiced selective transparency at best, complete cover-up at worst. Mr. Carver should be upset, but not surprised, that his Democratic colleagues refuse to support him against Sherwood's attacks. He should recall the incident back in 08' when Board Member Kraczkowsky was attacked. They didn't support her either.
Sadly, to them, only their party and Ideology matters, regardles of who gets hurt.
