  1. Why is the Teacher's union involved in this "rally"?

More "in your face politics" by the self proclaimed "non-partisan" B.O.E. majority and its' leadership.

  2. First of all, let me establish that:
    - education is the most important service a municipality can provide its residents
    - the city must spend its education "WISELY". The city cannot get more money out of its TAXPAYERS. (Now we are providing 3 meals a day at the high schooll; what's next?)
    - We have an obligation as human beings to help those mired in poverty. That obligation does not extend - as far as I am concerned to deadbeats who won't work and care not for those of us trying to pay our way. Those surviving on entitlements and who refuse to do anything but ask for more get no sympathy from me.

The money well is dry and I'm not willing to give any more to deadbeats. If I come to the rally it will be only to say that I am not in favor of giving another penny in taxes to fund the failing education system in New Britain.

  3. I have a question for Mr. O'Brien. How can you promise huge increases for the Board of Ed and police budgets and yet also promise no tax increases?

Where is all that money you are promising everyone going to come from?

  4. Sounds like the occupy wing nuts--nobody including the people in the rally even seems to know why they are protesting other than to protest.

  6. There are 135 police officers and 137 firefighters that would not be affected by the planned layoffs in the city of Nw Britain. The Mayor is also “committed to moving forward” in hiring 30 more police officers. After police and fire are taken into consideration, there are 323 city employees, of which 130 could be facing the ax, the Mayor said.
