Phil Sherwood Has been promoted by Mayor O'Brien from being his Communications director to deputy Chief of Staff with the above aforementioned raise.
When the general public has been recommending the removal of the former Alderman, from the Mayor's Staff, the Mayor ignores the taxpayer's recommendation with a promotion.
Its no wonder why Mayor O'Brien added $180K to his office annual budget to former Mayor Stewart's budget.
This is who the majority of voters elected..
ReplyDeleteMaybe, hopefully, more people will get out to elect a responsible person next time!
It appears to me that Sherwood is actually O'Brien's boss. O'Brien is actually as if he is a puppet or should I say slave to Sherwood.
ReplyDeleteYes Frank the rumor is true, Sherwood got a $15k raise for shooting his mouth off to the press daily. I know that Stewart did not give his employees a raise of any substance in the 8 years they were employed as they embraced the concept of public service unlike these losers!
ReplyDeletePeople should be outraged as he talks of layoffs and gives his own people raises and they haven't even served a year in office yet????
Correction: Sherwood's new title is actually Director of The New Britain Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda.
ReplyDeletePhil Sherwood really needs to be called Mayor or Deputy Mayor of New Britain, because he seems to be running the city, not O'Brien, the current "Working Families Mayor". We thought that Sherwood's current position was Director of Communications and not Deputy Chief of Staff. Did O'Brien's Chief of Staff, Rosemary Klotz, get thrown under the bus when she asked four state agencies to investigate whether former Mayor Tim Stewart and his aides violated election law or ethics codes by using NB city computers to store hundreds of political campaign files.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure Sherwood didn't give himself the raise since he obviously does all the thinking for the guy who is apparently incapable of even the most basic of decisions?
ReplyDeleteO'Brien's chief of staff, Rosemary Koltz, asked four state agencies to investigate former Mayor Stewart's administration about allegations involving computer files- printed below are four state agencies comments.
ReplyDelete1.- The State Elections Enforcement Commission had no comment.
2.- The Office of State Ethics stated that the state code of ethics is limited to state and not municipal officials.
3.- Attorney General George Jepsen's office said that the conduct of municipal officials doesn't fall under its authority.
4.- The chief state's attorney's office confirmed that it received Klotz's complaint, but, as its practice, would say nothing more.

IN MY OPINION, SHERWOOD IS THE MAYOR AND O'BRIEN WOULD BE THE DEPUTY MAYOR!
Mayor O'brien's recommendation to the common council that they approve layoffs of l30 of the city's personnel should make them all happy to hear that Sherwood received the $15,000 dollar raise.
ReplyDeleteWTF!
ReplyDeleteIn an effort to generate millions of dollars in revenue for city of New Britain, Mayor O'Brien will initiate a fee that will target owners of properties to where Police & Fire Departments have to constantly be called. The top five abusers in NB for Police calls during year 2011 are listed below.
ReplyDeleteNew Britain High School with 222 calls.
The Hospital of Central Connecticut with 182 calls.
242 Main Street, New Britain with 138 calls.
NewBrite Plaza on East Main Street with 135 calls.
The Burritt House on West Main Street with 134 calls.

ONE QUESTION: HOW MUCH DOES THE MAYOR OWE THE CITY FOR THE TEAM OF DETECTIVES THAT EACH REPORTEDLY WORKED AN ENTIRE DAY OR MORE, ALL PART OF THE HUGE TASK FORCE TO SOLVE THE CASE OF THE BROKEN WINDOW AT THE MAYOR'S HOUSE?
How about all the man hours that were used to investigate Sherwood's complaint against the former mayor for the "unfounded" incident?
ReplyDeleteWell maybe when Tim O'Brien actually comes out of the closet he'll actually be able to standup for himself - sad!
ReplyDeleteI hope Sherwood is proud of himself cashing those bigger pay checks while 130 men and women trying to support their families are facing layoffs to support this out of control spending that he is part of.
ReplyDeleteWell---if the change of title brought with it a $15,000 raise it is unfortunate that the Mayor thought he could do this without it going public, thus making those facing layoffs and/or concessions saying "REALLY?????" You must lead by example, especially at a time when you are calling for 130 layoffs, and if you are not going to do this, then, as one of your previous articles stated, maybe picketing or a strike would make it quite interesting for the City of New Britain. It will be amazing if we see that number of layoffs on the City side and on the Education side, as well, as this City has not yet acted in a manner that coincides with the state of the economy that the rest of the Nation and the World finds themselves in. If there is not to be a raise in personal property taxes and no user fees that would include no increase in water/sewer usage or payment for our weekly trash pick-up, I see no alternative but to lay off some individuals on both sides.
ReplyDeleteHow much is Sherwoods salary??????? Before his raise and afer. How much was Tim Stewarts Chiefof Staff salary???????
ReplyDeleteNo word from White House & President Obama that the eleven Secret Service members and the five military members involved in the Colombia sex scandal has overshadowed his diplomatic mission in Latin American.

MAKES YOU WONDER WHO THEY MAY HAVE REALLY BEEN ARRANGING THE TRYSTS WITH THE PROSTITUTES FOR?
Maybe next year when Sherwood is elected mayor, he will hire O'Brien to be his Chief of Staff?
ReplyDeleteKnowing that a Democratic president can have illicit sex in the oval office (while on the phone discussing troop movements), makes these presidential bodyguards think what they did was no big deal. There is no such thing a private affair when a person is president. Everything they do while in office effects our country and sometimes others.
ReplyDeleteIf the First Lady wasn't planning on making this trip, she is now!
ReplyDeleteWho could blame anyone for not wanting an angry black woman when they could have a hot South American Latina babe?
ReplyDeleteI'll bet it was someone close to Sherwood turning this conversation away from his $15,000 raise after only a couple of months in office and while the city is planning to layoff 130 working people because the Democrats have already run the city into the ground. They want to cause a distraction from their dismal record and draw attention of the public away from this absurd promotion and raise while people trying to feed their families are going to get the boot from the same administration.
ReplyDeleteThey made a movie about Sherwood and his assistant Obrien, It was called Dumb and Dumber.
ReplyDeleteWhen asked if Curry was fired, Phil Sherwood of the mayor’s office said, “it’s a personnel matter and in the very near future the mayor will be appointing an acting finance director.”
ReplyDeleteRobert Curry, the NB Finance Director, was thrown under the bus and is no longer working for the City of New Britain.
ReplyDeleteToo bad most city employees live outside the city because they can afford to, otherwise I would suggest that O'Brien would be certain to lose 130 votes. Since they choose not to live in the city, they are not a concern since they have no vote!
ReplyDeleteThe scary part is the voters of New Britain (1) don't care and/or (2) don't want to care. Ignorance is bliss. As long as the D-suffix is firmly planted after the Mayor's and Councilman's names life is good in New Britain. Income makers and homeowners don't even bother to vote. Everyone is pissed but few actually care to do something about it. Wait. Young D-Fronzo will come up with "a plan" and will be coronated as the next coming of Christ.
ReplyDeleteAfter the Democrats finish collapsing the finances of the city by spending us into bankruptcy, I am certain that the dope in the governor's mansion will simply bail us out with a big check if for no other reason than to keep his fellow socialists from failing. I am convinced that the D next to all their names really stands for Dope!
