City officials “gagged” By Phil Sherwood

10 comments:

  1. A malicious gag order, which was ordered by Phil Sherwood, locking out the New Britain City Journal from answering its editors inquiries by all department heads including the Mayor's office.

This action should be investigated by the city council and Mr. Sherwood be placed on leave until completion and findings.

  2. In was the year of October 2008 when Mr. Sherwood step forward before Editor Ada Seman and donated his services to her as Layout Editor and Word-Smith for " New Britain Area Bulletin- Keeping Up".

The "Keeping Up" October Bulletin issue was about the New Britain Area League of Women Voters and Candidate Forums for the 5th District Congressional Debates and Get Out The Vote Signs.

  4. As reported in Editor Ada Seman's - Oct 2008 "Keeping Up Bulletin" her story of gathering at Sept 22, 2008 NB Area League of Women Voters Pot Luck meeting and Mr. Sherwood's (Layout Editor) story about the new FOI ordinance that allows any member of the public to have access to public documents in a timely manner and without paying $.50 a page. He also reported about the proposals for property tax credits for seniors and the anti-blight ordinances.

  5. CITY of NB October 10, 2012 – At a regular meeting of the Common Council CPOA President Nicholas Mercier informed the Council that Sherwood had failed to respond to an FOI Request Mercier had issued. He came to the meeting to ask Acting Finance Director Salerni to answer his questions. Despite her being present in the building Communications Director Sherwood told her not to communicate with Mercier, claiming the FOI Report would be forth coming.

October 21, 2012 – The FOI request made by Mercier reveals that the city has several revenue lines that have not generated any funds to date. If the trend continues Mercier warns of a possible deficit.

November 20, 2012 – After an editorial critical of the Mayor’s use of Phil Sherwood as a mouthpiece appeared in the New Britain City Journal several city hall employees reported that they were told not to answer any questions or emails from Robin Vinci or the New Britain City Journal staff.

So this is what the O’Brien - Sherwood administration considers open government?

  6. open government to liberal radical extremists means that you are free to speak only if liberals agree with your message, otherwise you must be silenced at any cost.

  7. Robin Vinci, Editor and Owner of the New Britain City Journal stated that NB residents need to know what is really happening in our City. In a time when news papers are falling by the wayside, the NB City Journal paper is growing and expanding, as we have hired several new correspondents to give you more City news.

We believe that this is a good sign for our City. If local advertising has helped us grow, it means the City is growing as well. Thank you New Britain for all your support......of NB City Journal weekly paper.

  8. Sam Zherka/People Love Him/ Politicians Hate Him!

Residents here in New Britain may find themselves hearing more and more about a certain New Yorker man as Sam Zherka, ramps up his battle against what he sees as the injustices that are occurring in City of New Britain.

Sam Zherka was recently appointed as the Mayors Liaison to the Mount Vernon, NY Police Board by Democratic Mayor Ernest Davis, and to the Charter revision commission for Mount Vernon and Westchester County New York, by members of the legislature. He’s an honorary member of the Fraternal Order of New State Troopers Inc. and a registered member of the Independence party.

Born and raised in Bronx, NY, Zherka obtained his high school education there. He never went to college because he didn’t need to. He’s a self proclaimed graduate of the Bronx’s gritty “sidewalk university”. The “school of hard knocks” is the best education anyone can get, according to Zherka.

Our government officials & politicans believe the law does not apply to them, but they are wrong said Zherka. Zherka filed lawsuits on behalf of the tax payers against the Westchester DA and her Chief of Investigations for stealing taxpayer funds. Zherka also publishes the Westchester Guardian weekly newspaper, the largest weekly in Westchester County NY.

  10. Perhaps, Mr. Sam Zherka, is just the man that can help the citizens of New Britain to fight Mr. Phjl Sherwood's City Hall, by helping to rid the city of the 11 alderman who voted for the ill-conceived ordinances, and also for referring to Mr. Sam Zherka as an absentee slumlord.
