The current mayor Mr, Tim O'Brien feels beleaguered by his lack of confidence in his miss-management style - about spending taxpayers $100,000 for his 2013 re-election political campaign for a second term.
It seems that mayor found $100,000 sum in legal services budget and began using money to hire a Democratic public relations firm at Global Strategies Group to combat the NB landlords position, who have also hired a former local television reporter to track O'Brien spending spree.
Why the cash resources and authority of the City exceed those of the landlords, there is never enough revenue when opposition breaks out in this one-party town controlled by the Democratic Party.
O'Brien must have known he'd stumbled into quick sand, when a couple of fellow Democrats on the city council told Hartford Courant, they would have opposed the $100,000 contract if they'd been given a chance to vote on it.
Global Strategy Group Roy Occhiogrosso helped launch Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s first campaign for governor in 2006 and was Malloy’s chief strategist in year 2010,
But don’t look for Occhiogrosso to disappear from the political scene. Politics is in my blood, said Occhiogrosso, who was a Democratic strategist and operative at the state Capitol in Hartford.
Occhiogrosso for the last two years has been the governor’s top political adviser and chief of communications - with the title of senior adviser and a salary of $160,000. Mayor O'Brien has also hired Roy Occhiogrosso for the sum of $ 100,000 to help him in his 2013 reelection campaign.
Hmmm looks like NO'Brien 2013 in Nov will be one big party. And moving day for him too, ha ha ha. Tim, Phil, Chris, John (mini mac) you went to far so now its falling apart for you. Just be happy if you get to walk out on your own and not in cuffs like back in the 80's.
Thank you Nick Mercier and all the good work you do for the tax paying residents of the city of New Britain. It is our belief that the city has not realized or generated anything in terms of dollars from blight fines or liens. If there was revenue generated from blight fines the city would herald this achievement and it would appear as a headline in New Britain Herald news paper. Again Nick - Thank you.
To date (as of January 3, 2013) the Anti Blight - Poor Condition revenue line sits at $8,350 out of $425,000 (less than 2 %), a $416,650 deficit. There is a revenue line for "Transition Revenue" for $10.4M that has not had a single cent collected. Further more there are many other alarming revenue likes that have little to no funds collected.
Mr. Sherwood like to claim how these NB ordinance have generated hundreds of thousands of dollars, but it doesn't really matter if it is liens that don't show up on the books and aren't collected. What the city needs is money in the bank. More revenue?
To quote an overly arrogant former member of the common council: Where's the beef ?
Don't count O'Brien out. Unless the residents of New Britain understand that the Republicans will not take their checks away or force them out of their rent. The Republican need to educated all of the residents home owners or renters. It is the O'Brien team that is forcing the landlords to increase fees. Many do not realize that car tax will remain the same. We need a stronger Republican party and support in this city. The council was elected by the people , for the people not for O'Brien and Sherwood
It is hard to believe that one man could be so extremely arrogant that with one statement like "where's the beef" he could drive a developer into taking his $5 million and investing it someplace else--any place other than New Britain.
Thank you again Nick Mercier. We tax payers don't know why Phil Sherwood feels like he has to always lie to residents of New Britain. The truth eventually comes out in the wash ...so thanks again to YOU...Nick.
And Nick, please consider running for mayor. We sure could use someone who is honest running New Britain.
Considering that my Congressman is John Larson, I fully understand the latest poll saying that most Americans prefer cockroaches over their Congressman.
So when Global Strategies works for Malloy who pays him? Is it Malloy or the state? We know taxpayers pay for his work on the O'Brien campaign.

No offense to Nick, but after these dumbbells, it is hard to imagine that anyone else wouldn't be an improvement.

ReplyDeleteWait until the bond rating agencies take a look at the current budget. Numbers don't lie and downgrades are a given. Higher taxes ahead
