Salvio comments on "City Looks to Finance $1M for Family Entertainment...":
\If it weren't so obvious, it would be funny but it's very sad! O'Brien has begun his second year in office so now he begins to try things, anythings, that he thinks will cover up the bonehead moves he has made thus far.
In my opinion, spending over $2 Million to plan, build and open an entertainment complex on Hartford Rd. on golf course land is dumb. It doesn't even venture a guess as to what it would cost to buy all the "toys" for the complex or the costs to staff and maintain the complex. And please, don't tell me that all these costs will be borne by revenue from the complex.
Also, it has yet to be determined what effects Costco will have on the total length of the Red Nine and what this will have on the ability of the golf course to attract tournaments. Bill DeMaio is a great guy but this is worst idea yet. Leave the golf course alone, enough damage has been done to it already. And has anybody considered having another idea that will cause a traffic nightmare on Hartford Rd.?
In the meantime, our schools must beg for pennies to try to maintain their status as the lowest performing schools in the state! We as a city need to decide that it is our greatest priority to remove O'Brien/Sherwood from office.
Over time the only "labor" (we use that term loosely) that will be left in State of CT will be the municipal and state union members (note we did not say workers) and politicians, since they will be the only ones with high enough income and the outrageous benefits to be able to afford to live and be employed and retire (did not say "work") here in CT by milking the tax payers for their $$$$$.
ReplyDeleteThere was news just today about a Torrington manufacturer moving to Alabama which is a "right to work" state, so I guess they will be leaving their union troubles behind as they flee this socialist empire.
